First off I want to link to an article concerning the truth behind the bread crumb, written by those who aren't interested in sensationalizing negative thing about the LHC.
Now a link to two videos (one embedded youtube, the other is going to be a link to CERN's better quality version), concerning the sexy ass detector known as ATLAS.
For all you weightlifting fans! ( I think I am the only one) It started from Nov 19 and ends Nov 29. This year its being held in Goyang, South Korea. I would like to see team USA win a medal which is very very unlikely. :D China is dominating as expected and will probably win most of the medals.
The results so far is: Men 56 kg winner Long Qingquan (130kg snatch silver) (162 kg clean and jerk Gold)
Men 62 kg winner Ding Jianjun (146 kg snatch Gold) (170kg clean and jerk 4th place)
Women's 48 kg winner Wang Mingjuan (93 snatch Gold) (115 clean and jerk bronze)
They are going to air in a couple hours too. Im gonna try to find a stream so I can watch. If anyone can find one, post it here please.
Well, after getting steamrolled on iCCup on a couple times a cpl days ago on HBR, I thought to myself "isn't there some 4 gate crazy goon rush that will run this right over (early 1 fact timing push)?"
well I was wrong I was thinking about the 4 gate goon rush in PvP. But the more I think about it, on the D/D+ RANKS this would be a wild build to throw at someone. It has like 11 range goons and 2 lots at 6 minutes, which i a time when T normally has 2-4 Vultures, 1-2 Tanks, and 4-6 marines he can push/defend with.
My new goal is to win a game with this same build in PvT on HBR. Imagine the reaction a D player will do when I throw down my 2nd pylon on 12.... and build gas on 16.
I think I can make it work if I send my scouting probe to mine out the 0 min in the 3rd base right after he does his initial scout.
So I will keep you updated, I might try it in a bit!
Edit: Messed up title. Can a mod change this to "A Little Gay...For Stork"?
Best day of my life, as far as I can tell. Was the end of the Incruit OSL... Oh, how I'll never forget that day, When the Dino toss microed and macroed away.
I squirmed and cried so passionately... When he dropped to games to fantasy... But on Chupung Ryeong he did his thing.... And that's the reason, why I sing...
*chorus*
He's King of Silver, but he'll always win, He just got ripped and kinda thin... I want inside the Samsung house, I want his fingers on my mouse....
Don't get me wrong, my love ain't stray, It's not often I feel this way. But from my heart I want to say.. I think I might be a little gayyy... For Stork.....
I stayed up late and and got online, World Cyber Games two thousand nine... 2-0'ed Kolll in Caller's stream, A better set, I'd never seen..
But when he 1-2'd against Jaedong, I feared my allegiance could be wrong. Then I realized it's not about winning, It's about true love, that's why I sing...
His shuttle micro that earned my love, His carriers that rained above, His templars storming all the land, I'd beat up Bisu to hold his hand..
We'd play some WoW, or read TL, Maybe hope he can win an MSL, We'd Slow Dance all over Return of the King... But that's a dream, so I'll just sing...
This is the band i love much more than led zeppelin and pink floyd
the reason is simple, first time i met with one of their songs was when i was a young blue boy, midnight, and the feeling it got just did penetrate into my soul and estabilished a nest inside me
many of u will not be able to feel what i felt
thats the way life is~
im gonna write a guitar piece called miss Tomiko to this awesome girl she is
I just hate this matchup. It really isn't that fun at all. Between the manner pylons and proxy gates every game to cannnon expands and storm/dt drops it is probably my least favorite matchup to play. This is a problem because I can't go not playing through 1/3 of my matches.
Maybe it's because I'm not that great at the matchup. Maybe it's because almost every protoss I play happens to be better than me. Fuck pvp -_-
I can't believe it hasn't crashed yet. (the figure is 3821 if you didn't right-click and view, and it's rising by the second).
I think the highest I've seen on the Solinren channel was 15k for UFC 100, but I think it was some guy with a script. The highest of all-time on Livestream IIRC is Foo Fighters with 20k+ or so.
For Starcraft? No idea. I remember 1.5k for Boxer vs Killer though.
Yesterday night i almost checked myself into the mental ward down town. Thoughts of hopelessness, losing faith in mankind (hard to find anyone that's a decent human being.) I almost gave up, but i remembered all the times i use to be depressed, i always found a solution to live life to the fullest (i remembered the good days when i was able to solve any problem by careful thought and rationale.) Then a moment of inspiration struck, everything made sense again for a brief moment, everything was significant, all of this hardship i went through while in this depression seemed so insignificant and i came to the realization that i've been stationary, wasting my life due to neurotic thoughts based on ignorant speculation and misunderstanding.A new day will bring happiness and further knowledge, and i'll be able to enjoy life how i use to.
Anyway, i had to write this out somewhere, hopefully people will understand why i wrote this and won't think im doing this for attention or anything.
So... lately I've taken more and more of an interest in my roots and who my ancestors were.
On my mothers side, both my grandparents immigrated from the Netherlands in the 1950's. My opa served in WW2 in the Dutch navy and both lived under the Nazi regime. Although very close to each other geographically they lived much different lives under Nazi control. My opa barely scraped by, while my oma lived in relative luxury. As the oldest son in 9 children, he stole, begged, and fought for food to feed the family. He says that there is never a time when survival is so present in your mind when there's nothing in your stomach. My mother and her brothers and sisters also tell stories of how it affected them growing up. My opa, having survived a famine in his childhood and forever scarred by the experience, would hoard food like a frightened squirrel. My mother would find stashes of rotten fruit hidden in the house, because they weren't allowed to eat such a luxury. It's better though, than it was... he had 8 children and retired before 60, largely due to his ability to hoard money like he would hoard food. His strength is something that still inspires me.
My oma on the other hand lived a different life because her father, my great-opa was an ingenius man who made a fortune through the purchase and sale of land in the early 1900's. His fortune was largely taken from him during Nazi control, but he retained a large portion of luxury in his life simply by his ability to take a shitty situation and make the best out of it. He was always very generous with his things, something he passed along to his daughter, my oma, and something my opa still cringes at. There were certain limitations imposed by the Germans during their control, for example you were only allowed a certain number of chickens. As the Nazi soldiers would come to check that people were within their limits, and confiscate the supplies of those who weren't, my Oma remembers binding the beaks of their extra chickens, putting them into a sack and tossing the poor mute chickens over the fence and into the neighbours waiting hands. Once the soldiers were finished searching their house, the sacks of chickens would come flying back. Similar limitations would be imposed on things like corn meal, and my great uncles would climb trees to tie camouflaged sacks of corn meal away from prying soldiers eyes. Stories like these make me really proud of where I came from.
Started at 12:55 am, ended at 6:38 am (not playing constantly). Got approximately 8 hours sleep and woke at approximately 4 am, so I'd been up for 21 hours by the time I started laddering. Consumed 40 oz code red mountain dew. Listened to a playlist containing the soundtrack from Wipeout 64 and GunZ.
Lost to EG.iNkA (TSL-iNkA) on hbr; had a really messy start, did gas trick before ovy and scouted on 9 and proceeded to do overpool speed. Went 5hatch muta -> hydra, did more or less zero damage with mutas. He made a lot of sair. My hydra and drone counts were too low from bad macro and so I did little damage to his army and couldn't get any breathing room. I probably should've gotten lurker before hydra range and tried to turtle on the ridges.
Lost to Rym[Rush] zvp on hbr, went lurker first, had late nat gas, and didn't turtle on ridges. Tried to attack for some reason when it made no sense to and lost a lot of units.
Lost to TSL-Slider zvp on fighting spirit; he went 9/9 2gate in his nat when I went 12hatch, and I was unable to place any sunks, probably shouldn't have made my 3rd hatch before sunks (it also tightened my nat up, which was bad for me at the time (better later on presumably)).
Lost to Xiaozi zvz on fighting spirit; I went overgas drones/sunk before lings with hatch before spire, he went 12pool 11gas 10 or 11hatch, speed first. I made a 3rd hatch at my nat after muta were out, don't remember timing and don't care to look it up. I had the advantage until he attacked with muta/scourge and I reacted very badly, allowing his scourge to hit my muta weakening them for his muta, and taking hits from his muta. Had I killed all of his scourge I would have been ahead or even. The massive gas advantage I had gotten from my build order was still in effect, though waning out as he had his nat gas, but I was getting my nat gas before the final battle. I think it mostly came down to I wasn't scouting with lings at all while he was, so he knew where my muta were and I had no clue where his muta or scourge were and was out of place/not prepared for the final attack.
Lost to TSL-Evil zvz on hbr. Dumb game. Overgas drones/sunk vs 9pool speed -> lair. I was waaaaaaay ahead, and decided it was a good time to attack (like me he had no expo, but I was ahead in every way). Attacked his main choke with lings and lost all of my lings without getting through, moved toward his gas with my muta (his ovy saw this) and somehow got myself flanked between scourge and muta. Awful scouting and decision making on my part. His scourge hit muta weakening them so his muta could kill mine and he quickly got better muta count. I threw the game in an instant =/
Lost to TSL-Closer zvz on hbr. I went overgas drones/sunk again, hatch before spire, he went 12/12/11. He was completely ahead at all points of time in the game.
I have concluded that making a hatch before spire is the wrong way to go vs 12/12/11, that it'd be better to capitalize on spire advantage, getting as high a drone count as possible, coasting on gas advantage while ideally getting an expo and getting nat gas up at or before he catches up on gas with his nat gas. Also think that it would be beneficial to get spores at this time, allowing me to make more drones and get a faster 3rd hatch than him, ideally with more larvae and equal gas.
Before I lost 4 games in a row I was in the top50 (#46 I think) at 2070.
Fortunately, I’ll help you take this apart. The idea of the above is called Lagrangian multipliers. It’s a way to optimize problems while avoiding as much butthurt as possible, unless you’re good at math, in which case you can probably derive an easier way to do this. Of course, if you’re good at math, you wouldn’t need my help to do this either, so good luck For those of us who aren’t gods among men, here’s an easier way to do this.
The first statement is this:
Maximize U(x1, x2) s.t. M = p1x1 + p2x2
This is simply stating that this is an optimization problem. It says the following in a sentence: Find the maximum utility that somebody could get from purchasing a certain amount of two items (x1 and x2). However, they have a certain budget (M) that they can spend, and that each item has a price (p1, p2).
This is pretty obvious without the jargon: basically, what’s the most useful combination of things that you can buy with your money and their prices? You can pick how much you want of each kind-namely, you choose x1 and x2. These are what we call endogenous variables, because we are trying to figure those out. We don’t control p1, p2, and M (as those are external to our choice) so we call those exogenous variables.
The second statement is what we call the Lagrangian function. This is basically one of the easiest, most reliable ways to solve this problem. There is no such thing as a real life Lagrangian function-this is just us playing with the math in order to get a solution.
L = U(x1, x2) + λ(M-p1x1 - p2x2)
Now you may be wondering why the hell there is a lambda in our equation all of a sudden. The answer is that it is also a trick of math. Some people that are a lot smarter than I am and a lot better at math figured this out as a shortcut. I’m not going to bother doing the proof because I suck at proofs and I’m a lazy shit. Just pretend that it’s a formula or something.
In any case, we don’t know what lambda is, so we consider it a variable. However, we are trying to find our what we need for our two values, x1 and x2. To solve for them from this equation, we need to find a way to get them all together.
One very easy way is to simply take the partial derivatives of the Lagrangian function with respect to each endogenous variable. So…
The first expressions are us taking the Lagrangian function with the derivative. This is just mathematical trickery here. They are what we call First Order Conditions, or FOC, or FUUUUUUUUU~
However, we can figure out a little bit of what the hell is going on. We have two equations up there-namely, these two:
dL/dx1 = du/dx1 – λp1 dL/dx2 = du/dx2 – λp2
We want to figure out what x1 and x2 are, but we can’t really isolate them with the lambda present. Instead, we will do a little trick of math. Because this is an optimization problem, we can set the left side of the equation to be zero, so we get:
0 = du/dx1 – λp1 0 = du/dx2 – λp2
Now we set the two equations like this:
λp1= du/dx1 λp2 = du/dx2
Now how do we get rid of the lambda? Easy: we divide one equation by another.
λp1/ λp2= (du/dx1)/(du/dx2) = p1/p2
This happens to be the Marginal Rate of Substitution, or MRS, for those of you paying attention.
So what does this tell us? It tells us that it is possible to figure out what the best amount of x1 and x2 is, in terms of p1, p2, and M. This is called Marshallian Demand. For instance, suppose our Utility function was U = (x1)(x2). Then our first order conditions would be:
Now you may be suspicious here. There’s an x1 on the right side, which doesn’t seem to help us here. However, we can abuse math again (don’t try this with women) to get another expression. This time, we use the third equation, and set it to zero, and substitute for x2:
0 = M – p1x1 - p2(p1x1/p2)
And now we do basic math to get:
2p2x1 = M X1 = M/(2p2)
And we plug this back in for x1 to solve x2,
X2 = p1(M/2p2)/p2, or p1M/(2p2^2)
And thus we have solved our Marshallian demand. If you want to get what those guys call the indirect utility function, simply plug x1 and x2 back into the original utility function. This gives us:
U = (x1)(x2) U = (M/2p2)(p1M/2p2^2) = (p1M^2)/(4p2^3)

絶対領域 (zettairyouiki) or, 'Absolute territory' for a rough translation. Is a word that describes the territory of exposed skin between a short skirt and long socks.
Music blog! this time with a specific artist I discovered not so long ago. I'm not that much into hard electro, but this guy just makes dark and wickedly good tunes. It's understandable though cuz he's from one of the darkest places on earth: Finland. Just staying alive there proves you're pretty much a goddamn badass. Cheers to y'all up there for such a fine export. Oh and one little detail: he uses a gameboy for livesets.
Here's a little description by last.fm-
Huoratron is the musical solo project of Aku Raski, a bearded powerplant of a man. With his harsh and hardly danceable sounds he has tried to rock dancefloors for years already.
Behind the name (“Whore-a-tron”) is Aku Raski, who was involved in the retro electro group Nu Science around the turn of the century, and released his solo debut “Koottava” MCD in 2000. In year 2002 Huoratron was born, first as a project, where Raski very effectively used two Game Boy consoles to produce experimental electro.
Other than that I can only tell you he's tagged by keywords/phrases such as: 8bit beast big rave dark electro gameboy grindcore not emo out there but still enjoyable psytronic totally fucking awesome music ... and last but not least a honey-glazed cock ramming into your ears multiple times
