I have had an awesome day of laddering today, all thanks to Colosseum 2. I just don't lose on this map very much. At C+ rank, there are very few players who can outmatch me on colo2. Colosseum 2 propelled my awesome Flash build and awesome greedy TvZ bio builds from behind a wall all the way from 5082 pts to 6136 pts. That's right, I am finally a blue ranker, and went 1-1 after I hit B- also. After a long, hard season going 154-210, I have finally reached my goal. :D
I don't think I'm a true B-, since pretty much Colo2 is the only map where I have a good chance against B- players (especially protosses), but hey it's map of the week so I just mass played it today. My router gayed me earlier in the week taking away 5 of my wins (admins called all my complaints "server crash" fucking bullshit). but it still feels awesome. been raping protosses all day~!
My colo game plan is basically be greedy as fuck early game in TvP and TvZ due to the map and go 2 fac tank/gol TvT and rape them from their cliff with a rax to see their nat cliff. It's really easy to just win games this way if you can efficiently pull off a competent build order every game. Occasionally you run into someone who's actually good and lose, but that doesn't happen all that much at C+.
Overall my matchup stats ended up as:
TvZ 49-60 45%
TvP 78-113 40.8%
TvT 24-33 42.1%
TvZ : this is what I'm most comfortable with. I suck against cheese in this matchup due to my greedy builds and subpar reaction time to allins and slow playing, but once it gets to midgame I'm very comfortable microing bio and pushing vs lurkers (and even defilers). My macro needs some work though.
TvP : I sorta suck. This is the matchup where I'm just really bad anywhere but colo. I never win macro games against decent tosses, whenever I beat a toss above like C/C+ high it's either colo 2 abusing flash build or some random 2fac/lucky shit. Overall my TvP blows but mostly because my macro really sucks and so does my harass... flash style suits me best but it really doesn't work on a lot of maps.
TvT : I'm getting a TON better at this matchup. My TvT has been like 20% win for 3 seasons, and I never knew wtf to do. I'm getting a lot more comfortable with vulture play, usually going 2 fac vult and sometimes 1 fac vulture FE. I think my unit positioning is pretty good, I'm good at stopping opponents from sneaking up on me and advancing and I can usually hold map control. The one thing that rapes me in this matchup is DROPS. Once the game starts to be a maneuvering drop war I pretty much autolose. I suck at defending drops and my drops rarely do anything... I guess more turrets, or maybe even incorporate some wraiths or something. Dropship play definitely my biggest problem TvT.
I'm so happy :D:D:D didn't think I'd reach B- this season but thx to +2 weeks on season I was able to do it. Hopefully everyone else reached their goals too :D cheersLast edit: 2009-12-13 09:43:19

I like playing colo2 PvT. Terran can't get super greedy because you can 10/15 or 12 nexus and negate it. And every Terran does the same 3 base mass upgrade turtling which means I can pretty much get away with double expo, tech arbs, make 15 gateways before making an army.
If they don't invest heavily in recall protection, you kill them easily. Otherwise you save a huge amount of stasis and take the whole map. |

Yep, totally. Colo2 TvP is basically who plays the map better. the way you described is basically how you beat flash build on colo, but most tosses don't adapt properly and either get outmacroed or don't have enough arbiters/are not greedy enough. |
