Foreign maps that I like.

Due to the competitive nature of Starcraft, most people only play KeSPA maps. There are hardly or no leagues out there that incorporate foreignerr maps into their map pool and so they are mostly left out and long forgotten.

But today, I want to showcase some of my favourite maps here from Broodwarmaps.net. There are many maps in here that I feel are really nice and IMO, I think the deco on foreigner maps is much nicer and more appealing that KeSPA maps. Just take note that these are just my own opinions and I can noob up sometimes so just take it easy.

Sick blog post. I dig map recommendations because, like you said most people do, I just follow the Kespa maps. This means two things. 1) I don't have anything really to offer here. I wish I knew of more foreigner maps that I could show off to everyone. 2) I really hope that other folks post some more sick maps here. I want to expand my collection and try out some sweet new shit in the causal games that dominate my StarCraft play time.

EDIT: Hamlet looks particularly sweet. In general, I'm not good enough to care about balance if it's not really horrendous.

There are ramps that lead out of the natural, if my eyes don't deceive me.

Thanks for this blog post, it's really neat to see the ideas non-kespa mapmakers come up with.

Nice blog post. I like it when people write on topics like these since it's a nice change from all the regular stuff going on.

Anything But This looks cool, but I guess that it will suffer greatly from rush all-ins seeing how it's a two player map with short rush distances and two entrances into the main. Too me it just feels like 4pooling would be too good to make any matchup including Zerg interesting.

Venom also looks cool but the fact that so much of the map is unbuildable will make quite a few terrans pull their hair since pushing will be difficult.

Hamlet then. While I dislike playing on island maps and semi-island maps (this one is a semi), this one does seem interesting. Island maps have traditionally suffered due to the fact that Zerg had such a hard time expanding and being effective early on due to, in part, the lack of gas. That is why Paradoxxx had two geysers in the main after all; to help Zerg.

This map, however looks more balanced in that way, but with five very easy-to-get gases, this might be reversed. Think of what five-gas-Zerg mutalisk would mean, concidering the fact that early agression is nonexistant. I think that TvZ could be a nightmare due to this.

However, the terran could of course float a barrack or a factory out of his base, land it and send a bunch of marines or vultures to the mineral line of the natural of the Zerg player, shutting that expansion down for a while, but that would mean less marines in the main when the mutalisks come, so I don't know...

Oro Lala 1.2 looks sweet. In many ways it resembles Ride of Valkyries, but turned 90 degrees. I fear that the third gas might be a little too easy to get though, which would make Zerg a powerhouse on this map. I would remove the top and bottom ramp, making the distance to the third gas just a bit longer and thus making defending it harder.

Tho terran has auto 14 cc on hamlet which makes up for that (at least a bit). I don't have any experience so I can't say anything about that map tho.

I really like Anything But This, but how the hell are you supposed to FE in PvZ?

Anyway, i think ICCUP should start including more foreing maps, some of this look really fun to play on.
