| Minor update: I got the stream verified so no need to worry about the 50 viewer limit anymore! Also, I'm looking for advice on commentating, particularly with multiple people. Does anyone have any tips regarding what software is ideal? (i.e., Skype, Vent) |

Update: So this week was probably the most confusing match ever and I figured it was worth explaining since I'm pretty sure no one watching the stream exclusively figured out what happened haha. Because their Set 4 guy (Joel) had to leave early for a SC2 tournament or something we agreed to play that set first, and so the game on Destination began. However, apparently Chris thought he was playing as Random, since that's what he was listed as on our UM CSL team roster. However, because his main is Terran from what I can tell, that's what race I submitted him as. As such, he technically played a race different from that as listed and so arguably a regame was in order, or in the worst case scenario a forfeit on our side. What's interesting though is that Chris actually won that game in what turned out to be Chris (P) vs Joel (T). I was pretty certain we'd have to regame but Joel apparently decided to take the loss and logged off. Probably SC2 taking up all his free time or something
And so after all that confusion, we played set 1 which was fairly uneventful from what I can tell save for lag which persisted even after all the observers left, so I guess it was an issue of their internets failing. At any rate, Matt won. Then we moved on to set 2 which was a TvT between John (OSU) and Kevin (UM). Now because Kevin had actually lost a bunch of his practice TvTs on that map, he was feeling a bit nervous. However, John actually attempted to use the *same* TvT proxy factory build that he used on Match Point in a previous week, which was promptly scouted by Kevin who had studied said replay, and John gave up right there, conceding the game in less than 5 minutes.
Finally it was time for set 3. Rob had been practicing a one-base PvZ tech build which happened to work well in UM's favor because the OSU player was cross positions on Fighting Spirit and went for a 5 pool, going for the quick Zerglings. Rob didn't block his ramp with his first zealot, choosing instead to send it out towards Bob's base, and so the Zerglings made their way into Rob's base and started killing probes. After some fail zealot micro it appeared that the Zerg had done a fair amount of damage, until the observer panned back to the Zerg base and noticed that Rob's hero scouting probe had killed TWO drones. And so... any advantage gained by killing the probes was negated ^_^; As Rob then moved out with two zealots and a dragoon while starting his Stargate, the OSU player disconnected. According to their coordinator, Skype crashed his computer. After much confusion, he decided to concede though either way he was pretty dead anyway. Like, definitely more dead then Flash vs Jaedong dead.
And so... the mess in set 4 thankfully never came to a head since we just ended it 3-0. Yeah, confusing.Last edit: 2010-03-29 16:31:07 |
