You'd be amazed on how many multi-million dollar deals I've seen on the basis of just emotion or just ego, at least with drinking you can figure out the guy's true character...in Asia, this takes the place of due dilligence for deal sizes less than a couple of million and is required for any deal to be closed even after proper due dilligence.

I actually totally agree, I always treat them as if its is their job and they are simply doing it to get by, so I'm always polite and try to be as charming as possible. There are a lot of guys I've seen whether they are old or young that go into these situations treating the girls as less than human and usually in Korea and Japan, it makes you look like you are from a low class social background. But keeping in mind that I'm going for business and the places we are going are usually the most expensive place so the women there are for 'ambiance' and not for other reasons. But in Japan, the girls are paid extremely well and the hours are very short because of laws in place by the gov't to limit the hours of such places, it wasn't like this in 90's, but about 10 years ago, there were a number of curfews put into place.
This isn't the case in Korea where it is all night to morning, and it wasn't the case with our place, not because it isn't under curfew, it was because the investors were such important clients that the mama-san couldn't kick them out. But I think in the case with these girls, they will save up enough to pay for their entire 4 years in one year of work and they are not servicing the 2nd part of the night. But they are the more fortuante ones because they are so tall and pretty, the ones that aren't well they work at places where it is a lot less desirable and nothing like what I'm relating here. |
