It just hit me the other day how not once in over 500 games have I been able to stop that build from killing me. It just gets worse and worse the higher up the ladder you get as well. I'd just rage a lot but lately it sort of hit me how bad I really am at this game. I fail vs practically every cheese you could think of lol. I gotta admit, I was a lot better at broodwar than I am at starcraft 2.

So anyway how do you stop korean 4wg? You know with the early gate/core, constant chrono on wg research and then 3-4 inbase pylons. Then they usually get pure zealot and will almost inevitably be getting a lot of probe kills. From my experience you don't have a stalker in time to kill the probe unless you 10 gated and chrono'd one out. You also need to make pure zealot it seems or they'll reach very superior numbers.

I just started playing again and went like 3-20 after about a month away from sc2. I'm #3 in my diamond division but I have like 500 games played so I'm probably far away from getting into master anyways. ^^ Good times.

4-gate yourself and take it to a micro battle...thats really about it unless you can keep the probe from building in your base and can forcefield the ramp to buy time for colossus or whatever but your best bet is to 4-gate yourself

make zealots as zealots are better at taking down buildings. just know the timing of when the warp will be done and dont be too hasty and send probes way too early. try going 3 gate and slower warpgate as you get more units and should still be able to defend a traditional 4gate

So I guess I should stop probe production, chrono out as many zealots as I can from 3-4 gates and try to catch him warping in for extra damage. That is similar to what I've been doing but I feel like I tend to get overpowered once his reinforcements starts warping in continously. It's hard to pinpoint what I'm doing wrong and sadly I don't have any replays here.

I know it's probably asking for too much but I'd kill for some replays of someone fairly high ranked executing the defense.

Which one is that? I have less problems defending the ones that get double gas and skips in base pylons, unless I have 2 ramps in which case my opponent gets a free win.

i always go 10 gate now in pvp. it really shuts down greedy 4 gate builds.
When they see MC Probe, all the ladies disrobe.

Interesting. Do you transition into 2 or 3 gate robo or something else? If you're up against a mirrored build, aren't you fairly behind in econ?

i have trouble vs this as well. i usually 9 pyl scout and 12 gate, and my WG tech is just slightly too late . so frustrating losing to something that you see coming a mile away but there's just no hard counter too other than to micro probes perfectly..

Why is it called korean 4wg anyway? koreans made it up or use it often?

it's just a 4wg where u cut probes and save chrono for the wg tech... people must call this korean 4wg to make it sound scarier or something.

You can 2 gate. It CAN become ugly if you allow his probe to live/get a pylon in your base, but generally your 2 gate will hit his base with 3-4 zealots right before warp finishes. Meanwhile, at home you'll have 2 stalkers being chronoboosted out. At that point you go for his probes with your zealots and you micro the stalkers/your probes to kill him in your base.

It just happens to originate from the korean server during beta afaik. It's just a very early 4wg with a lot of proxy pylons and hardly any gas.

If it's a 2 player map or you scout him early, I usually transition into 2-gate with one of them/both being proxied. A lot of the people i versus don't know how to react and just die before their warpgate kicks in.

korean 4 wg is a 10 gate, fully chrono boost on wg tech, and they take probes off gas after 50 gas for wg tech and build a bunch of pylons in your base and warp in zealots

lol what? Today I was thinking nobody's using this strategy anymore and everyone completely forgot about it so it would be good idea to start using it again because they most likely won't understand what's going on haha

right when u scout the k4g, if you can't get 3 gates up and pumping, lay down a forge and build 2 cannons. 2 cannons+1 gate will hold off a k4g.

Hm that's something I've never tried. Going to experiment with that.
