How to spread your SC2 Songs.

So, yesterday someone at work asked me how I spread my songs on the internet. I don't know why he actually would ask me that, because with 13k views top (and that one went kind of a bit viral), I don't think I am the "I know how to get e-fame" kind of person. So I just told him the following:

I don't effin' know how to spread SC2 songs.
Now click here and listen to my songs!

The point is: I work in E-Commerce, we have people here (including me) who create successful online campaigns and our websites are frequented pretty good. Of course I cannot use my company's websites to advertise my SC2 related music, but people would guess that it should be no problem for me to get that stuff out on the internet.

But there is a problem with that: Yeah, I could start online campaigns and post my shit all over the internets, but I just don't feel comfortable doing so. I don't want to constantly rub it in peoples faces. I don't feel fine telling people everywhere in the internet to go listen to my songs because I think they are great. Every single time I did that, I had bad feelings afterwards. I even deleted some of my reddit posts I created because of that. Yes, I think my songs are great, I mean, I wouldn't make music that I don't like. If my songs turn out wrong for myself and I wouldn't like to listen to them, they get buried in the sands of time. But still, if I tell people "Come on, give it a chance, just listen to my songs. I think they turned out great" I feel like I am a cocky little bastard. And I don't wanna feel like that.

Yes, there is the chance that stuff gets viral. But that chance is as big as winning in a lottery and get struck by lightning at the same exact time. So I can't count on that.

So, I know I have some fans and I know some of them are here:
I could use some help. I really would like to keep it up and I already wrote 2 new songs that I am going to record soon, but even if that sounds cocky too, it is hard to keep up your motivation and put real effort into something, if nobody ever sees it.

So if you get the time and really really like my songs, get them out there. I think they are great (bad feelings again) and there were even some people that told me that my songs motivated them to play more and even someone who took courage out of my songs to talk to his parents that he can be a part of the scene again.

Gratefully,
blAke

Easiest way would be to include footage and quotes and lyrics about famous e-sports personalities like Day9, Tastosis, etc.

But I like your songs especially A Terrans Story

I really like day9, tastosis, husky and co. and I thought about making songs about them, but it's kinda not my way of making music. I just really like to tell a story or try being inspiring Thanks anyway I still consider writing something about esports personalities

Oh I like your style better also in general, it's just ... if all you want is views, making a video which will then automatically be promoted by said personalities, equals automatic promotion in the intended audience And if you rip off a well known song and call it a parody as well, it's something even non-gamers can easily relate to ...

Not saying it's better, just saying, if you ignore quality, it's an easy way to get promotion.

(and I say that while I enjoy the songs like 'Thank God for Day9' etc, I see nothing wrong with it).

i wrote a collumn about this the other day. Im in the same situation, trying to win a remix competition. But just posting a link on facebook, even to my close friends, doesnt generate shit. I need to just act up as that cocky idiot everyone hates and start spamming and tbh, even though it sucks, it works. Im currently in a 3rd spot (constantly top 5) out of 120 entries which is fine since the top 10 advances.

As long as you know why you do it, atleast you can justify it to yourself.
