Showering Strategy

Have you ever taken a shower where you felt really cold after you finished? Depending on your region, how your household sets the thermostat, etc, you might experience this all the time like I do. I've spent years coming up with strategies to prevent this.

An early strategy I devised was to keep the shower door closed, and dry off from inside the shower. This helps a little, as I once read in a conceptual physics textbook. However, if you have a cold house and/or a big bathroom, it probably is sufficient in making you feel like crap (cold crap at that) after a shower (amplified if you have a decent amount of hair I suppose).

Once or twice I tried cranking up the temperature on the water to maximum and leaving it on just as I exited the shower. This produced additional steam to help keep the bathroom warm, but proved to be less useful than my current strategy.

The bigger the bathroom, the better this will work (but also the more necessary it is). You need a power outlet with one of those reset buttons because you are going to be plugging something into a wall outlet in a steamy room, and something could possibly go wrong.

Plug an electric space heater into the outlet, and place the space heater on the floor, facing away from anything flammable (if the floor is carpeted you shouldn't do it, but I doubt anyone has a carpeted bathroom). Turn it on before you shower. Depending on the brevity of the shower and the size of the bathroom, you might want to turn it on well before you enter the bathroom to begin with.

If leaving a space heater in the bathroom is a bad idea, then just bring it in with you, and back out when you are done (that's what I do).
