| You might try to buy batteries from external sources for cheaper. I think those go for around $100. |

| Buy an imitation-brand replacement battery, they are cheaper - you can usually buy them @ authorized dell service centers, or online. |

Laptop batteries are a pain in the ass to replace because they are all different sizes and are usually way expensive.
I'd definitely buy from one of the 3rd party imitators. Same thing only $100 to $200 less sometimes.Last edit: 2008-12-11 11:57:06 |

| I recommend not buying Dell. Seriously, like half the people I know who got Dells (including me) have had problems with them. |

That's interesting. I've had mine for over 2 years at this point and no real troubles. Same goes for all the dell-using people that I know |

| Same with mine. I got a new laptop for a better graphics card but the laptop itself remained in top condition (other than the battery which wore out after 2+years). |

100% of the time when you call companies and yell at them they do something about it.
So call dell, tell them this is some motherfucking bullshit and you won't be buying dell again, they puss out = you win. |

I'm not sure if I understand your question but about 90-95% of the time when it's on it's plugged in...

Try reading Dell's reviews on their website (submitted by users) for the battery that your current laptop uses. It might have a better reputation than mine. |

He's trying to say something like do you keep the adapter plugged into your laptop even after its done charging. Because if that's what you're doing, it fucks the battery over time. Overcharge and all that nonsense. |

the only real thing that you can do at this point is to buy a new battery, or a new laptop.
Your current battery obviously isn't going to last you any longer, and there really isn't a fix for it at this point. |

Typical laptop batteries have a shelf life. This means:
The battery do not last forever. Typical life time of a laptop battery is 3 years +/-, However:
This includes the time that it sits in the warehouse not being sold.
And:
Battery have a separate warranty and is typically shorter than the unit warranty.
Tough luck?
Yeah... what can you do, you decided to go al cheapo and got ripped off.
You can sent your battery to some battery refurbishment business who can restore your battery.
I work in a computer retailer that sells dell and this shits happens all the time and no we don't care how hard you scream, in the end it all finishes with you buying another battery. Last edit: 2008-12-11 16:56:35 |
