Well, it's not just yet, I have about 3 months before I fly back to Jersey to see kids I graduated with back in 1999. However, I realize that I no longer have my 18 year old body and have taken initiative to get it back: got myself a personal trainer for the next 3 months.

Currently, as of 8/26/2009, I'm a little pudgeball at around 62kg (136lbs) and standing at 162cm (5'3)

Yes, I know, I'm pretty gross.

But I figure I'll post my stats here so that I can humble myself, (embarrass myself?) to keep motivation to do this.

Target goal: to lose at least 12kg (26lbs) of fat and gain some muscle. I can't do much about the height, I'm afraid.

I want to be about 52kg (115lbs) with more muscle weight. According to my trainer, my arms strength is just about average but my legs are weaker than the rest of my body, possibly why my knees always pop and hurt.

Since the exercise part is gonna be taken care of, now I need to change my eating habits. Anyone have any advice as to what kinds of foods I should eat? What can I make for dinner that would be good for after my workout? (Jamie's doing this with me too - so it'll be good for me to cook for the two of us) I'm looking for something that's pretty easy to make.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated ^^

The atkins diet is the most effective in terms of weight loss.

I became a vegetarian 2 months ago (a bet) and lost like 10kg in those 2 months just because of that (although i'm afraid its equally distributed between muscle loss and fat loss cause I haven't been getting much exercise during those 2).

I guess your best bet is cutting on meat/snack consumption while exercising at least a little bit so your muscles don't fade away.

Oh and apparently a portion of that sweet/sour sauce that's common in some asian dishes is equal to eating about 30 hamburgers. So dont eat that.
Heaven's in the backseat of my Cadillac, let me take you back.

I don't wanna be thin then die of a clogged artery... I mean, I know I should be eating more protein and stuff but don't really wanna eat chicken all the time... nor wanna drink protein shakes.

You so are not gross, but good luck with the training and i know you have the determination to reach your goal weight given the right motivation. I'm trying to get down to a lower weight too as you know and I've just been stuffing my face with vegetables and tofu. My mum says making your own soups using a blender is very nutritional - especially if you use lots of leafy veggies (and you know there aren't any scary chemicals going into the food then if you buy organic.)

I've been told time and again the first step is cutting out your bad habit junk foods (which for me is soda, ice cream, hamburgers and cookies etc.) All of which have been dumped for wholemeal cereal and low fat yoghurt plus some fruits.

Saracen you unabashed ass kisser! ;P

And as for foods to eat... well, you can eat anything you want, really - just less of it. Strict diets tend to fail after a while as they're hard to maintain. If you want to maintain dietary consistency, just eat gradually less.

i read somewhere that ppl on atkins do lose more weight initially over a month/2months/3months i forget what, but then after about a year, the weight loss is about the same as ppl on other 'normal' diets

but, since susie is looking for some relatively quick weight loss i guess atkins would prbly work...

be careful if you're actually going to try it~!

yes, but it's a lot of exercise help as well, I just want people to tell me some good things to make for dinner here already I don't eat much - in fact, I don't snack either. I have a bowl of cereal in the morning, almost always miss lunch cuz of work (that'll change) and then dinner (either Korean food, Indian, steak, pasta etc... whatever we feel like eating...)

I know I should eat small amounts all throughout the day... and once Sept comes along I'll be able to go out for lunch more often... but even then I usually eat out since all I can pack with me are sandwiches. HALP.

28......I actually thought you were just 21 or something..

on topic: don't go the radical diet way, like don't eat then work out to death. Try to eat less over time while doing some exercise.:D well if eating less is not really a problem for you then just go exercise.:D

Oooh! Do Competitive Ballroom!^^ It's my PE for this semester and it's really tiring but fun.

Ive met 16 year olds who look 25 and 25 year olds who look 16.

its not right.

if you can, would be great to have a light dinner, with lotta veggies, and a normal lunch, so you can spend that energy in the afternoon (cause i dont think you would run joggings or work at night), but seems your work prevents you from eating regular lunches
then i suggest avoiding meals with sauces, cause as said earlier, sauces such as sweet/sour are usually the fattest things in meals
also try getting more chicken and fish/seafood instead of pork/beef/lamb
hope you can succeed, wish you best of courage

I'm not trying to radically diet. I just want to know what foods are healthy to eat, etc. I'm not gonna starve myself or just eat greens and work out 24 hours. I just got a trainer, gonna see him 4 times a week, and I just wanna eat healthy.
