ZvT D- (nah not really but I feel D- now lawl)

I'm so much raged right now, ugh. I bought a new keyboard that seemed pretty good but looks like the R.Ctrl key is too far on the right which makes it hard to hotkey 0/9/8/7, and the keys don't press quite as well as I first thought. As a result my play feels very sloppy and I can't control my stuff properly, so I returned to my old keyboard. Meh~

I wanted to give the new keyboard a try anyway and try to get used to it so I went to play some lowlevel iccup, but I lost a game to some skilless newbie Terran on C-. It pisses me off because I practically won the game all along but I wasn't able to capitalize on my advantage since my hands were so sloppy on the keyboard, my apm was like 140 according to bwchart D:

Anyway I figure I had some flaws in my game other than poor unit control (it is amazingly difficult to control Zerg units without being able to hotkey quickly omfg). Usually I go over replays and analyze my play but I'm too tired after a 37 minute game on an uncomfortable pad so if someone wants to be nice check out the game and point out strategic flaws.

Don't go "you controlled your units bad at point X and Y which is why you lost those battles and lost the game" or "you reached to X too late and got into a disadvantage due to that" since those are basically results of this highly uncomfortable keyboard :/

The game: 0060 BoSoMyT AqoZ.rep

Related to that, I'm pretty sure I read something by Nick Plott (maybe someone else?) talking about getting good equipment that you'll be comfortable with when playing, so, anyone has any recommendations for good SC keyboards? I know there already were threads about that, but technology keeps advancing and new stuff always comes out so I'd like to hear the latest opinions.

Oh man I feel your pain. I bought a new ''gaming'' mouse from Razer. It was horrible. Way too big for my hand, way too clumsy overall and the ''pads'' that you click on had so huge gaps to the sensor compared from my old mouse, making it very hard to do fast clicking that I'm comfortable with. I felt so sloppy, and I forced myself trying to play with it, but in the end it was in vain.

Mouses that come with PC > Razer.

So I'm now using my old mouse, which is way better imo. I've been hearing that numerous progamers use small Logitech type mouses, prolly gonna try one of those next.

I'd suggest getting a keyboard that costs around $10 USD. The cheapo ones are actually really really good for Starcraft, and other games. (Tasteless said this himself as well, i believe) Don't get one of those super expensive ones with a zillion features, you don't need all that, and don't get a wireless one because they're not as reliable as a wired keyboard. Also make sure to get one with the right travel (key depth), whatever your preference is. Laptop keyboards have really small travel and it's kind of a annoying sometimes. Something like this is probably really good. What kind of new keyboard did you get?

Ugh people complaining about equipment and losing games that they have won need to realize that there is no one to blame but themselves and that blogging about this is pointless. Fix the shit you know you did wrong, both physically and in-game, and don't do it again. Easy?

yeah most "gaming" mice are quite heavy because they're supposedly better for fps, i dont know if i even agree with that though. there's no question that lighter mice are better for starcraft, since it's lots of smaller and rapid movements, and the mouse won't weigh you down

I did say I played imperfect and posted a replay & asked for advice. If you're so clever look at the game and give me pointers for what I should have done different.
I think my main problem/s (other than poor unit control and losing tons of units for nothing, that could've been easily avoided because I know I can micro better than that) were: 1. that my expansion planning was bad and I didn't defend my 7, and as a result I wasn't able to maintain my marginal advantage and 2. late defilers. I'd appreciate it a lot if better players looked and maybe gave me some other advice.

The new keyboard I bought is A4Tech, this one:

Notice how the R.Ctrl is like 45 degrees from 0? I can't believe I missed that :/ at least this keyboard is good for fighting games (yeah, FG on keyboard, sue me).

Oh and 3. I didn't put on good music during this game. That's a key mistake. I play way better when I got music playing this is your fucking captain speaking

You were getting owned by nearing nothing because you didnt make enough medics ALL GAME.

You need about 3 medics for every group of marines. He ran over your army with pure ling a couple times, thats just retarded. If you would make more medics you'd see just how strong mnm really is.

The thing I don't get about this post is:

Isn't he taking steps to make sure he fixes the problem, including asking for advice on the best way to fix it?

Or don't you believe anyone should ever ask for advice?

Go rant to somebody who actually needs your words of wisdom.

Yes tasteless recommended to get those really really cheap keyboard in the guide the OP mentioned, and he recommmended to remove the keys you don't need and might hit instead of the ones you actually want to hit.
like this [image loading]

Another alternative is to get two of those keyboards (which still wont cost more than 20$), one white one black and make certain buttons black so they stand out and you dont accidentally hit them or wahtever.

Jangbi made his keyboard like that, except he made half the keys white and half black, looks kinda cool =)

as you can see this standard keyboard also has a 45° from ctrl to 0, but I don't really see the problem, should still be easy to go ctrl+7-0 unless you have freakishly small hands ?

It's nice that this thread developed a discussion about keyboards but maybe I worded it poorly, I was more aiming for focus on the /game played/ ya'know?

The thing I don't get about this post is:

How can someone be so self-righteous that they would respond to a post that is NOT directed at them, not directly or subliminally or by associative property, in order to berate my posting quality and capabilities when it is you that goes on private vendettas, against me for example?

Why are you compelled to respond to me when the OP already responded, in his own defense? Did you offer something insightful that he didn't say?

Looks like you didn't. Go blow hot air somewhere else, no one needs to waste their time reading your irrelevant banter.
