Does anyone know how to get rid of mouse acceleration on Windows Vista? I just installed StarCraft on my new laptop, but failed to find any information on how to do this. Searched TeamLiquid and Google without much help. I own a Diamondback 3G if that matters at all. (I am not running the Razer Mouse software, though.)
Playing StarCraft with acceleration is a serious pain in the ass. Thanks in advance!

Go to control panel->mouse->pointer options->uncheck enhance pointer precision.

mouse acceleration aids pointer precision...you can make smaller more precise movements, but it'll accelerate if you have to span long distances, etc.
It's actually great if you don't play BW...lol. |

What is it actually doing differently across smaller distances? How are your movements more precise? |

I don't know how you play WITHOUT mouse acceleration. Mouse acceleration makes everything so much simpler and easier to control :/ |

| Windows's implementation of mouse accel is TERRIBLE. Try moving the cursor relatively slow (in a diagonal, especially), and the cursor gets "stuck" easily. |

| Isn't Enhance Pointer Precision about lowering the amount of distance the mouse pointer travels if you move your mouse(in short: sensitivty) to achieve better precision for low dpi mice? That's what the Razer support guy told me when I asked if it should be turned on, and he told me my mouse doesn't need it. Last edit: 2009-09-05 17:14:33 |
