Stewie is gay. Nobody cares, if viewers don't get it by now they never will.
When the writers have little to no material so they use Meg a joke to get things rolling. We get it.
Brian is an Atheist, and George Bush was the worst person alive.
Chris is just there.
The fact that I can guess when the "remember when/this is like" means others can as well. And what the fuck is up with all the rape jokes, seriously? Is this what the show has come to just rape, drugs, and domestic abuse jokes?
I miss Futurama.

If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.
Family guy is bad and repetitive. I don't want to have to deal with the generaiton of idiots who think there stupid repetitive joke is XD SO FUNNY because it was on Family Guy.

Compared to American Dad.
But still pretty bad.
I honestly think American Dad has surpassed Family Guy. The characters are weak (paranoid, right wing father, laid back daughter, geeky son, unremarkable wife, with some wacky shit like talking fish and aliens thrown in for good measure), but it's much lighter on the flashback humor, doesn't feature as many extended musical numbers, and there are more fresh plot lines to build on.
My opinion of popular animated shows:
The Simpsons
10 in their prime, 2 several seaons ago, 5 now
Futurama
Pretty steady 7/8
South Park
2 early seasons, 6 mid seasons, 4 now
Family Guy
5 early seasons, 3 now
American Dad
6
Cleveland Show

I liked Family Guy when it originally aired, and I was 12-13. Episodes were okay when the show came back, but nothing spectacular. I watched the first few episodes of American Dad when it premiered, and I thought it was the biggest hunk of shit ever. I've heard from pretty much everyone that its gotten better since then, but I haven't been willing to give it another chance.
As for the Cleveland Show, with the way I feel about Family Guy and American Dad now, I wouldn't even bother watching a spin off of a show that's only okay.
I heard they canceled King of the Hill for it though, which is sad, granted I haven't watched King of the Hill in a few years.

Also {CC}StealthBlue, you are angry AGAIN. WE GET IT.
Fuck that. Terran is the race of big dicked Vikings who rampage across the galaxies in huge battleships, rip up the ground with artillery spawned from the forges of hell, and send waves of valiant warriors to fight the freaks of science.

Coming to the defense of Family Guy here, for the simple reason that the show is NOT predictable. The whole deal with Family Guy is the randomness of the jokes, often completely surprising you. Yes, we know that some of the characters behave like they do. Great analysis. It's their character.
But then all of a sudden Peter, dressed as Mary Poppins, falls ontop of two kids, vomiting and crying as he realizes he's killed them both before using his umbrella to slide them under the bed and escaping out the window. I mean you can laugh or cry, but you did not see that coming.

Lockdown several Dragoons and Reavers, and ride the Vultures up to drop spider mines adjacent to them. Such harassment works until Siege Tanks become available.

The point isn't that we didn't know they were about to make a joke involving Mary Poppins. The point is that you know exactly when they're about to cut to one of their "omg sooooo random" sketches, and you know exactly what to expect. Fans say it's fantastic how random and unpredictable they are, but honestly i just think it's dumb, unimaginative and repetitive.
Making the same joke strictly following the "Remember the time i did X with X?" template, inserting two random pop culture references that will make college students squeal with delight isn't creative in the slightest. I've also never seen any subtlety that apparently exists. I've been told it's there, but never been shown an example.
IMO, at their absolute best
simpsons > south park > futurama > family guy

Family guy should be considered as easy watching, you can work on something and have FG playing in corner. But that's pretty much all it's useful though.
Every episode has this scene: Peter says: remember the time when I ...
American dad is junk, I can't understand how anyone can watch such junk

Uh what you described as 'what fans like about family guy' is not what's actually good about family guy. The best parts of family guy also have nothing to do with that format southpark made fun of. If you do not realize this you are too ignorant on what family guy offers to make any kind of a fair judgment.

No it is not easy watching at all and this shows you don't get family guy at all. It's all satire, parody, and other things that you have to actually pay attention for. If I was doing work while watdching 'when you wish upon a weinstein' for example, I would not have realized that they were parodying the graduate when louis tried to prevent chris from getting bar-mitzvah'd, and I wouldn't have laughed at the technically accurate hebrew either. You can't appreciate family guy without giving it your full attention and I think that's why so many people think it's bleh... they are just taking it at face value and not stopping to try to appreciate it (to their great loss).
Anyone who says they don't see the subtlety needs to stop and watch it carefully... although many people won't get it either way I guess if you lack the life experience to see what they are referencing (little kids like the silly crap they do (the childish humor thrown in for contrast) and don't realize there is a deeper level)
