Changes since last time: Messed around with the drums. Tried to make them a little more standout / powerful. Did some work with the kick / snare especially.
Messed around with the bass EQ. Made a cut around the high lows to remove some of the muddiness / boom.
No opinions on the riff / songwriting / playing needed. Opinions and feedback on the mix / sounds / tones desired.
If you want to be ESPECIALLY helpful compare this tone to bands such as: Unearth, Killswitch Engage, and As I Lay Dying because that's the sound I'm going for in a nutshell.
Thank you!

| I like it a lot. Unfortunately I have like the Jaedong of headaches right now so I can't give my full in-depth opinion. (headache has nothing to do with your music) |

I think you hit the sound your going for very nicely. It sounds very nice. It reminds me of those bands you listed in fact... (imo that's a bad thing, whahahahahahhaahhahaah)

No that was Mydnyte CrownRoyal.
Haha thanks Motiva, this isn't my song . It's a tune from my old old band's album that never came to pass, but will now come to pass :D |

I really like the way the bass kicks sound now. They sound a lot fuller and less clicky. However, the mix overall sounds very bass heavy. The guitars seem kind of pushed into the background.
I do like how you can actually differentiate the bass from the guitars very easily, though.
I think the snare is a bit too loud as well.
Otherwise, it sounds good.
Keep 'em coming! (: |

| Might just turn the guitars up. That will address all the problems you've pointed out I think PH haha. Hopefully it's that simple, will update with a new mix soon! |

Ok turned the guitars up a fraction and cut some more low end from the guitars so I didn't turn up the "boominess" along with the "attack". Turned the snare top mic down a hair also.

Also thanks for all the feedback guys! You've all been very helpful (even the "it sounds awesome" comments are helpful to keep me going :D) |

Yeah, that sounds a lot better. It sounds a lot more balanced, now. In particular, I think turning down the snare really made a big difference.
God, I really need to finish working on my paper...-_- |

ph was right, 3rd definitely sounds better than 2nd. The beginning with the.. one guitar being more in the background (is there a better way to call that?) really sounds pretty KSEish. One thing that's certainly different is the easily distuingishable bass which is a good thing imo. Other than that it doesn't sound quite as "rich" and "fat" like those bands but I can't imagine that's possible without a professional studio. (never listened to unearth though) If it is I'm not gonna pretend to know how ^^
good job as always

:C i really should learn mixing and production and stuff but im really lazy + i play a classical guitar good job though man
Ha same thing here... whenever I record something I just press the record button, maybe add some effects and thats it ^^ I really need to play me e-guitar more often instead of my acoustic, I think it feels neglectedLast edit: 2009-11-05 22:05:08 |
