Is this legal?

My teacher for one of my classes is considering letting me install StarCraft onto the computers at school.
However, she won't let me unless it's legal.

The game would be stored somewhere on the network on one CD key, and all computers on the network (so basically the whole school) would be able to run the game from this network, and we would play on LAN.

Is this legal?

Fun Fact: The teacher is Korean... But she sucks at StarCraft D:

Just download it from iCCup. I'm pretty sure their copy is completely legal.

Didn't original SC come with some feature where you could "install brood" or something, where anyone with that installation could join a lan game with a host using the original/master cd-key, they just couldn't join any other games?

*Edit*
>>Blabber
Install spawn, that's it. And darn.

I used to do this at my school but technically its probably not legal. What's stopping you from lying and saying it is though? I doubt your teacher is going to read up on some software law to verify.

If you do, say something along the lines of "Since the original is a legitimate copy, its alright."

The Install Spawn thing applied only to the original SC, not Brood War.

I'm pretty sure it's legal to do it (I don't think they would stop me from installing SC on my computer AND my laptop). Reread the End User License Agreement to make sure.

It should be legal as long as you are just installing the game multiple times with a legit copy. I don't know for sure.

you can install your copy of broodwar as many times as you want. You don't even have to use your cd key. Just use the master key of 3333-33333-3333 (not joking) which does not work on battle.net.

Get a flash drive with the latest patch, perhaps chaos launcer and all the plugins, and bwchart ftw.

Yes it is legal. How do you think PC cafes install all those games to the comps for anyone to use?

Also, you don't need to use the old install spawn feature anymore, since the latest patch (or the previous one) allows you now to just copy the .exe file from the disc to run it without the disc (which btw you need to do for every computer).

I'm pretty sure it is. Bw is no cd these days. You could dl it onto each of the computers if you wanted. If they allow no CD then they remove the only obstacle for a person using 1 disc for his lan. I'd take that as implicit permission.

It's legal, there's a computer lab in our school that has NeverWinter Nights and War3 in EVERY PC, no way the technicians don't know about it since the shortcut is one the desktop, I think they're using it for academic use.

You don't need to install SC to play it on the computer ever sense they included the no cd patch to it all you need to do it use the no cd patch and you can run sc off a thumb drive.

True story and tested me and my pals did it in my compsci class although it did take a bit or work to get a lan working on the network. Alot of jokes of how the network is set up like big brother is always watching were made in the process.
