The dropship reaches its destination and we're involuntarily shot out. I crash into the ground on a mess of purple shit, but I've already got more important things to think about. "Go! Go! Go!" the captain says. What a twat. A thick, cold needle jabs itself into my heart. "Go! Go! Go!" I echo. Stim packs have a way of making you think you have too much energy. I sprint behind some crystals with the rest of my troop in the hopes of surviving 5 seconds longer. Where'd the dropship go? Heh.
Slimy stupid creatures are replaced with slimy stupid creatures with claws. We fire into them without hesitation. I see the faces of the people I killed. Limbs of the soulless things begin to spray the ground. Breathe in, breathe out. I feel the picture of my closest friend inside my breast pocket. I feel the wet of fear running down my leg. I feel the sharp prick of a thick needle going into my heart again. I feel the thick metal shield encasing my body. I feel the thick metal shield encasing my body crack. I feel the cruel spike of a mindless creature pierce into my foot.

I think it's the repetition of "Choke in. Vomit out." that especially reminds you of chuck palahuik's style of writing.
