no your not missing anything, just reading too much and listening too much. Heres the truth, those who talk about the friendzone heard about the friendzone, those who hear4d about it talked about it, and so on and so forth, guess where it started? On american pie 1. 
thats my best example. tv controls us and we love to listen to her, cus she is afterall SEXY as fuck.

| friend zone is synonymous with "unattractive." friendzone are friends that you're completely unattractive to, which doesnt have to be the case. Many good friends have some sort of sexual attraction, but its hard to "become" attractive after a girl is accustomed to you being unsexy. |

| yeah if you let this friend(girl) see youra complete pompass ass, who would want that lol. derp made a pretty good point, when you first meet a girl she interested, then the more you let her see how stupid or unclean or broke, or just loserish you are, whats there to want? So for some, the sooner the better, for others its not that big of a deal cus they are legit guys. |

it's neither, it's a matter of perception. often times a male could have possibly gotten in a girls pants and become her bf if he acted correctly in the right amount of time...but for w/e reason he acted like a pussy/douche and doesn't and the girl stoped respecting him
that of course doesn't mean u can't regain a girls respect and attraction
this all of course is very obvious to anyone with a brain, but sometimes ppl here like to make blogs saying OMG DOES SHE LIKE ME? and even dumber people like to act cool saying 'no dude, ur in the friend zone, game over'
though, if u make a blog complaining about friendzone likely u r in it and will never get out |

| I think what you are missing is that the friend zone term is (or should if it isn't) only be used to describe the situation you are in after you stop dating someone, or you just meet someone and you go on a date with them, and they call you a "nice friend". |

However, my RL experiences completely contradict what is apparently common knowledge. The girl I am currently seeing I've known for nearly a year, and one of my best friends just started dating a girl who he was really good friends with throughout all of high school (4 years!). I can name tons of other instances where "good friends" have gone onto serious relationships; is there something I'm missing here?
How hot you are is inversely proportional to how fast you get into the friend zone.
If you are a really hot guy, you will not get friendzoned ever, if you are ugly and unattractive, then you can be her "friend" instead.
so the advice is:
-be hot
-be sexy

its taken my 6 years to learn all about the friend zone and I am the fucking KING of the friend zone, with a LOOOOOT of girls. I was awarded class clown at a 5A high school with 800 people, and I was friends with ALL the girls, only dated 3.
