l went to get some breakfast, I'm not much of a morning person since Canada never fucking sells Fruity Pebbles, so I'm writing this with the few bits of spare time that I have.

+ Show Spoiler +

First off: FXOpen American is tonight at 5:00 tune in for Everize, a very strong player from Team Dynamic.

Secondly. My leg is killing me. Do you know what that feeling is where you are tired, your legs are beat and exhausted, pounding with incessant pain that a nice massage or rub would do, but you can't seem to sleep it off because it still wants to walk or run? It happened to me and I've been up ever since.

To start off, thank you for all the wishes of my birthday. I stopped celebrating them like my father for numerous reasons and I'm not ready to list them all really (no one celebrates here where I am because of my stance). However, I really and truly do enjoy the idea of being thought of, even if it is momentarily and I am unbelievably appreciative of what everyone is wishing towards me, makes me feel like I'm someone here, which we should all feel when coming to Team Liquid!

In any case, last night I went out to my first social gathering in awhile. I've been to parties before of all sorts especially when I was first arriving here and everyone loved the foreign kid relying on cheap jokes and some party tricks to make an impression on the ladies. Today I went to a party at a StarCraft II member (Nirano on the TL forums). Great guy, very social and everyone loves him (Sorry Nirano, but I hate your music however haha~). His party was a blast, I'm a bit rusty because I haven't been to one in years (since high-school, so maybe 4 years ago, I like LANs more!), but overall it was great. I used the event to meet up with a new CSC (Concordia [University] StarCraft Community) member who has been Korea, met a lot of the GSL pros, friends with cArn and seems to be really enthusiastic about us (even though we don't quite yet have much to show). His girlfriend is equally a nice and sweet person (though she doesn't really like video-games).

Nonetheless, the event started out fun and everything, I paid for the tab for the cab to bring me and the two newbie to the party at Nirano's. Fast-forward a few hours into the night and things got a little hectic. Since the party was a mix between Nirano's other friends and the CSC, social connections were established and hardly moved. I met a few people, said hello, cracked a few suave jokes to which I probably only laughed to and that was relatively it. I brought an assortment of meats for the BBQ, but ended up giving most of it away because I simply love cooking and watching others enjoy it. Besides, I had to show them my Holy Mary of BBQ sauces:

That's her. Probably the very Diana Michael Jackson sung about. She is everything you could want in a bottle: smooth, tangy, rich in flavor spice and taste.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUi_S6YWjZw

In any case, she makes everything delicious. I also brought over a bone marrow that I never touched (no idea what they are used for, apparently soups and such) and some horse and ground meat. I was about to cook them over the grill when someone offered to cook or prepare them with me! How rare, a relatively modest man who knows how to cook! I exclaimed: "Oh, you know how to cook!?" He shrugged and said: "Yeah, I've been living on my own for a bit, so I had to learn how." Weird, me fucking too! Somewhere in the conversation, we joked about how I was rationed with the spices of Thyme and Worcestershire Sauce because I'm part Jewish and guess fucking what. He's Jewish too! We exchanged last names, a clear form of verifying our Jewish heritage and I love the reaction people get when they hear my last name: "Oh, Cohen." and then they give the nod of: "Of course it is", unsurprised by the likelihood. So... a Jewish man who lives alone, knows how to cook, enjoys it (he offered) and isn't studying cuisine or anything. This night was starting to shape up! Bread crumbs and egg to keep the meat together, some onions as well. While I was mincing the onions, I had the consistent nagging of people telling me to be careful. It's like they think I'm going to cut my fingers off (I wasn't curling them, so I guess it was a fair assumption). They all stared in anticipation of the eventual slicing of a nail or something. It never occurred, but I had consistent drunk people pass by and try to cut the onions faster, they failed (or rather she did), blamed it on her stupor and walked away even though she let half and onion take a tumble onto the floor. I wanted to bitch-slap like Chris Tucker but restrained myself realizing that she'd slap me probably harder before we moved on to the pillow fight and tickling (not entirely true).

Burgers came out great and of course, half of the party-goers asked for some. The guy who helped me cooked did what I did: only eat one and let everyone else have the rest. They enjoyed it and I guess in the end, so did I.

Right there, you think I'm one hell of a cool dude. But I believe I also caused the issue of the night. A friend of mine got too drunk to be even conscious (more or less). Y'see, him and another member challenged each other to outdrink one another. A classic game that clearly has a positive outcome. Two things arose: 1. The opponent kept pouring his drink into the other, so one person drank for two and 2. I egged them on by consistently telling them in private that other was winning or claimed he was winning. Dirty, I know and I thought it'd be both amusing and a good story to tell after, but it soon came crashing when the other guy could barely stand, vomited a few times and his eyes rolled back. People took care of him, but he missed his curfew (very strict family), couldn't go home drunk and had nowhere to stay. The party was starting to grow thin and all the guys were in the pool (and the women, either insecure about their body or "too cool" for swimmin') stayed dry and conversed so plainly. My ride was leaving and I couldn't leave my intoxicated friend behind (he was passed out by some ferns as we kept him hydrated and laying still). His was stumbling forward, resisting and being one hell of an annoying fuck. I wanted to slap him and kick him in the balls and this is why I hate drunk people (or the ones I met). Karma for my little toying? Maybe, I guess...

Called a cab. The guy took one look at us and I tipped him the finger as he sped off.
Called a second one, car was too small.
Called a third one where the guy was hesitant for good reasons. If we vomited in his car, his night is fucked. It was around 12:00 (so officially my 22nd birthday) and the driver hadn't even made 30$ for the night. We assured him and off we went and this was honestly the best part of my night. Driving through Montreal's main streets where the night was still young, the air was cool, refreshing and cleansing after coming out from the fog of a wild party. Seeing the artificial lights shimmer, almost at arm's reach and seeing people bounce around with life was something I looked forward to rather than look behind at the crew I had gathered. I offered the guys and the drunk to my place to stay, I wasn't comfortable with it because I absolutely despise drunks, but you know what... he was a member and there was nowhere else for them to go.

On the ride, I made conversation with the driver. Talked about his four kids, the art of taxi driving (memorizing all the streets, a tough job and requires a lot of mental strength, for such little pay). Learned he wanted to be a truck driver but the cost to learn and for the license was very expensive. As we arrived, I thanked him a lot. Told him he understood considering he had a daughter around our age and so I tipped him what the cost for the trip was (11 dollars was the fare, 10 was my tip). Pretty big, but it got him his 30$ reach for the night, showed how much I respect the risk he took and just left me feeling appreciative for his insight about his job.

12:21. We're in my condo, friend is out cold on my blue couch and the rest of us played Super Smash Bros. Melee (FOX FTW), watched That 70's Show and talked a variety of stupid subjects like How the drunk guy got the number from a girl at the party when all us supportive and noble guys go home with nothing (he got her number in case shit happened or something), how do mermaids poop, Yorku's real name (another member of our's), If Ariel from the Little Mermaid poops from her mouth, is that why the song: "Kiss the Girl" felt so oddly erotic?

As you can see, our rationale was still infantile. Slept for 3-4 hours maybe before everyone came to and now they're out for breakfast.

So yeah, that's my night :3 Wild? A bit. Regrettable? Hard to say. Exhausted? Yes. I don't think I'll be doing anything today. Get some sushi with the guys, throw them in the pool (they didn't get to, so I said they could at my condo).

Oh, I forgot to add that today has been overall lovely. After they came back from breakfast, we lounged in the pool/jacuzzi and just chatted. Gazed at the city from the window of the pool and then just sat by the fountain in the courtyard, was really peaceful and quiet. My day is over at 3 p.m, but I'm tired, satisfied with the all-you-can-eat buffet of Sushi (I ordered some sushi I didn't like and tricked my friends into eating them thinking they ordered it [any sushi you don't eat is an extra dollar in charges for the meal, so we had to eat it all]) and the great hot weather :3

Sorry, I had to post this song. This puts her voice in a new kind of context. A sort of "Turn me on" with more flavor and legroom for Norah's voice.

I really like this. It is a lot less muted and docile than her "Come Away With Me" days. Snorah Jones is no more! Now she's a wildcat!

Ok that analysis was not reasonable.

I like her docile songs ): They're soothing and yet, rich with poetry and this profoundness.
I like her remake of Tennessee Waltz

So nice to hear someone else likes to listen to Taxi drivers. They have the craziest stories and man that is a hard job. I always tip large for cab drivers, there are so many dickheads that they have to deal with...

Respect

Oh and driving late at night is the best. If I feel like time to myself, jump in the car and drive along the beachfront at 2am. Sea spray, moonlight, Floyd/Gotye/Jose` Gonzalez etc and deserted streets = Epic Win!

Nice blog mate. Happy birthday for the other day, sounds like you had fun.

Edit: Despite her proximity (our friendly Kiwi neighbour), not really a Norah fan. Prefer a Joss Stone sound, but may be in the future

I dunno. I like cab drivers, I think I would like to be one if you could be online anywhere you were.
Drive for a bit, talking to people, then go online and play some casual games or some HoN or something.

I just don't have the memory for an entire city.

I don't have a license, so for now it'd be in the back of a taxi cab and just tell him to wander. Sadly, they don't have any traditional cab cars here in Quebec D:

Thank you :3
Never heard of Joss stone.

Any will do. It is kinda weird that you know of Ms Jones but not Stone. Didn't realise Jones was popular in the US (and Canada). I would have though that Joss Stone was more well known.

The more I know...

If you want something really different have a listen to Gotye. He is an Aussie guy who makes loungey kinda music.

Yeah, I really like him, sorta. Do you know the generic jazz tunes you often hear in movies and games? That's really how I am. Turn me on is a clear example~
