I'm missing my first MLG of the year cuz I don't have a free ride there (plus it's cross country for me) and I've got work and other things going on at home. But I will still watch as much as I can and support the following players. I thought it would be fun to write a little bit on everyone that I will be cheering for in open bracket action. I bet most of them will read this too... I might add more players later.
KawaiiRice KR gonna fly through dat open bracket again, I can feel it. Unless he runs into some freakish toss early like Gatored, then I guess it'll be time to crank up the mizikinana and hang on for dear life?
LzGaMeR Smart for switching (back) to the imbalanced race. This kid wasn't bad with the hardest race in sc2 now it's cruise control time! Played terran just long enough to make blizz nerf everything good (5rax reaper, proxy thor among other things) then switches to Z...what a gentleman.
Pokebunny Always capable of beating anyone these days. Has had pretty good results at mlg's so far this season, it's time for a championship bracket appearance. (and games on the stream/main stage!)
Slog Sup son
lastshadow Moving to Korea immediately after this event to go qualify for GSL Code A!! Hopefully shows some nice play through the open bracket, is in much better shape now than he was going into Columbus.
sixjaxMajor "So Juan like, what are you gonna do after Starcraft?" "Eat." "No I mean like, for a job." "Eat, like hot dogs and shit." "LOL like food eating competitions?" "Yeah, it's gonna be pretty nice." "LOL"
Sterling Really has gotten pretty popular and doing well streaming on TL lately as well as improved as a player which has been great to see. Now all we need are some Kolde shoulder builds in the open bracket and we'll be set! Qualified for broodwar wcg usa last year too.
VPSuppy SUPPYS FIRST MLG! Kid has hardly been playing but that doesn't really matter he's always automatically good, plus he's just an above average wolf in every way anyway. + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/images/players/2593.jpg) HOW CUTE HE IS
VPChance Another Z user I know from VP...He's like a mini ret with his sick crazy addiction to drones, this user constantly overdoses on drones...Mind you this is not always a bad thing but in open bracket play it scares me greatly. Still has the potential to beat other macro players and wouldn't be surprised if he takes out some legit users on his journey through open bracket.
Vile.Hawk Quite a lot like VPChance but I think does better in bo series in open bracket format because he knows when enough's enough in the drone game. Hardly anyone even knows who Hawk is, he nearly beat Huk last night in wcg losing 2-3 in a bo5. Made an insane good run in Dallas making it into the Championship bracket before losing to Moonan. Extremely underrated Zerg player whos goal in Anaheim is top 16 which might be a stretch but not impossible if he plays the sc2 of his life.
QxGtheognis Another talented player that goes under the radar. Theognis is an oldschool broodwar gosu who is making his MLG debut in Anaheim. I nicknamed him the mad scientist terran. Every time he msgs me I just envision a frayed and wild eyed, frizzy haired doc brown from back to the future. At least Theognis lives in the present unlike time warp user CaucasianAsian
Azndude Has one goal at MLG Anaheim: Beat somebody good. Will it happen? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ An up and coming protoss player who has potential but nearly no experience, also this is his first MLG glgl Josh !
megumixbear One goal at MLG Anaheim: "Don't die first round." You know what that means? That means we're in for a megumixbear vs sixjaxdde round 1...how awesome would that be for this already zergified bear...this bear is not scared of competing though which is respectable. Capable of abusing the HECK out of blueflame too holycrap
Two guys that must be followed for the lulz:
ONEwbc Over/Under on the amount of cannons wbc makes through his open bracket play: 50 I'd wager over? I mean there's probably a good chance he could make over 50 in a single pvp bo3.
SCDPride If this guy played poker he'd be allin preflop every hand. Sometimes it works vs good players though, I can already safely say his replays from Open Bracket play will not disappoint. At least they wont if bitbybit was your favorite progamer.
Others to keep an eye on:
GosuSonkie One of the few War3 users who actually doesn't play Protoss...And he played human in war3 how sick is that? He'll be making his first mlg appearance in Anaheim and as long as he doesn't run into a crazy protoss he'll be good to go too! :D
Destiny Destiny has been showing some REALLY good results especially in ZvT lately against even top koreans in bo series. I feel he's really improved his game lately and is in for possibly his best MLG to date.
Liquid Tyler Relegated to open bracket play for the first time since pool play was incorporated it'll be quite interesting to see how Tyler does. He preformed strongly in previous MLG's but has faltered a little recently. Will be interesting to follow his progress for sure one of the bigger foreign names in the open bracket
White-Ra First MLG of the season to be taken by storm by special tactics. What more could you ask for?
TL Users: SigmaoctanusIV MLG name: Toasty?
That's all for now >.> I might add more later!
Who will you be following or rooting for in the open bracket? Who else has friends they're cheering on ? I can't wait for MLG to start!!! :DLast edit: 2011-07-29 09:15:08

Theognis is gonna OWN THE SHIT OUT OF THIS MLG! You heard it here first! I have such huge broodwar bias. Notice how almost all my friends are broodwar people and only like 2 protosses... that's not a coincidence LOL |

is theo actually active again? people should be shaking in their boots, if so :-)
i'm interested to see how slog does. i haven't really heard much about him so far results-wise in sc2. if he's gotten remotely close to where he was at in bw, he's definitely going to have a pretty strong appearance. |
