So I may or may not have been playing the leaked Beta version of HR and I can safely say this is the deepest gaming experience I've ever had. Fallout 3 and Oblivion and their affiliates come close, but at their cores they always resembled either a shooter/slasher with heavy RPG elements--it's difficult to put into words the difference between DE HR and games like Fallout, actually, so suffice it to say it's one of the only games where I felt I could take truly different approaches to solve problems. (Or so I've heard, wink.)
It's a first person shooter, it's a stealth game, it's a third person shooter; you can run and gun and skulk in the shadows and punch through fucking walls. It's a sci-fi noir action game that reminds me of William Gibson's world in Neuromancer and Mona Lisa Overdrive--in a good way--and if you can't tell I've dunked my head in the koolaid then you need to reread the last two paragraphs.
I mean, a shooter where you solve side quests without firing a bullet. True enough, boxes are used to solve a lot of puzzles (well, at least for me, boxes opened up new avenues for attack/travel). Let me rephrase: a shooter that rewards you for being clever.
Now that's entertainment. And it comes out tomorrow. Oh. My. God.

I may or may not have also played the leaked build and I can tell you that possibility instantly transformed into a preorder.
I am only sorry the game comes out on the 26th in Europe.
Then again, I believe somebody was saying something about using a proxy to fool steam into unlocking the game early. I might try that. |

| I saw a bunch of trailers and the developer's dairies, and the game looked really promising. However, I can't really say anything since I've seen many hyped game trailers and development videos, then fall miserably short. We'll know when the final version is released. I hope they keep the ridiculously long dialogue options with strangers, but give us the ability to speed through it. |

can't freaking wait. Iv been keeping myself busy with the tf2 items I got with the pre-order, but man am I excited.

That is not a design goal I would even attempt to achieve. I will settle for excellence.
I had more fun doing pacifist runs in Deus Ex than I ever did killing endless waves of nazis in a thousand other shooters. Christ, that games' story and atmosphere was superb. |

I've always wanted to be interested in this game but all footage I see of it makes it look not that great. the stealth looks lame, the shooting looks lame, the narrative seems weak. but maybe the trailers and gameplay footage just doesnt do it justice?
i dunno, the idea of this game is great but most of the gameplay mechanics seem pretty shallow/weak compared to games that special in that gameplay genre (shooting not as good as most FPSs, stealth much more shallow than a splinter cell or metal gear, etc). Although maybe ill just buy it so I can for sure say those things lol |

| just got my preorder :D everything I've heard about this game has been good. PCG gave it a 94% and said that although it wasn't as good as DX it's close and is definitely a worthy successor. can't wait till the 23rd |
