So it's 8:00am and this is the second time I've gotten out of bed today. Lately I've gotten into a bad habit of destroying my sleep schedule over the course of the weekend (thanks GSL ~_~), and then struggling to get back on a normal schedule before Tuesday. I woke at around 1:00-2:00pm yesterday after sleeping for 6 or so hours and I crawled back into bed to ideally get some sleep about an hour and a half ago to no avail. So I'd like to extend a sincere (albeit agitated) "Good morning~" Cella-style to you, TL.

I've decided it's completely unfair that humans don't have an off-switch for their brains. After spending a half hour in bed I began to worry that I wasn't going to fall asleep and that I'd be tired all day, the longer I laid awake, the more I thought about how much I needed to sleep and the more anxious I became until my frustration reached it's climax and I got out of bed. Is there a way to combat this? Surely someone has an answer T_T.

My prediction for the way the rest of the day will unfold...

Now that I'm up and suitably caffeinated, I'm in it for the long haul! Class is in approximately 9 hours and my french press and I are up to the challenge. Is anyone else sharing a similar experience? Do you have tips for staying alert and refreshed? I've found that eating these is incredibly helpful. It's like someone's hitting you in the face with a snowball every time you inhale, but other than that I'm stuck with coffee.

This blog is so true. Is it 2:30 AM and I *really* should falling asleep? Lay there staring at the ceiling thinking about the most random things and worrying about not falling asleep. Is it 1:30 PM and chem lecture? Eyes droop...

lie in bed and listen to some ambient/electronic music (try Ulrich Schnauss). It usually works for me

Just finished reading. I'm blown away by the amount of information Micro typed up for all of us in that thread. While reading I discovered that a lot of things I do on a regular basis (reading/doing schoolwork in bed for one) is apparently a mistake. Not to mention the idea that I need to "wind-down" before I get myself in the position to actually fall asleep.

I have a lot of adjusting to do, but I feel more relieved now that I've read all of that. Thanks for the link, whatthefat. It never ceases to amaze me the wealth of information this site has on such a wide range of topics.

this is so true and I feel like I've been this way for a decade, ever since I got into computer games. It probably all has to do with the screens and electromagnetic radiation or something...

To stay awake in class i usually bring a small flashdrive (swivels instead of clicks) and play with that absent-mindedly to keep myself moving, and stay awake.

Also, reading teamliquid =3

I have no idea how I make it to work alive every morning. My eyes are already half-closed on the major collector road, and when I hit the highway (and when the endless cycle of 110km/h on open sections and 10km/h on congested sections) I'm probably half-unconscious. Dozing off on the wheel is bad guys don't do it >_< I'm trying to be fresh every morning but I do not drink coffee before my drive (it makes me want to pee wayyy too often). I get a good 7-hour sleep every night though, so I don't know what else I can do...

I've been wanting to try that for a while :D Gonna have to wait till the summer though. I've heard of you miss one of your little nap sessions you'll be tired for days, haha.

I'm going to try and exhaust all non-drug related methods before I buy anything like melatonin. For the same reason as you, I don't want to depend on anything to allow me to sleep, that's always made me pretty nervous about taking drugs in general.
