Well this inspired me to give monobattles another shot.

Ended up on a team with roach/viking/thor/zergling vs voidray/marauder/stalker/tank.
Sounds easy, but ended up with all my team mates mostly dying and leaving and me going pure roach mondragon style against the void rays until I just massed spores and slow pushed with them. 55 minute game of roach vs voidray/marauder/stalker/tank.
At the end I finally used one of my old allies remaining scvs to make starports and mass viking, only after I had secured a wicked spore crawler contain letting me mine the whole map.

at first I thought it's going to be all about the luck of the match-up.

but maybe not! Maybe there is some skill hidden under there.

With the no medivacs thing... I don't know if I'm thinking way too hard about this, but would it be worth banning ventral sacs as well? Zerg kind of get their dropship free.

Is there a version where you can't get warp prism?

Perhaps medivacs too. Queens seem barely okay. Corruptors kinda seem way underpowered too, unless the enemy gets collosus/carrier/BC/brood lord or has a zerg to hunt the overlords of.

Well, this is in the rules:

"Standard EU Random Monobattles rules, forced random unit and race, no medivacs, mothership, warp prism or corrupter."

So I assume the map alredy excludes those units automatically, if that's what you are asking. About queens, i think they may actually be quite good against certain units, specially air.

Queens are actually pretty good in monobattles because of their excellent AA and ability to support other units with transfuse. They're particularly effective if you have another zerg player on your team because monobattles rules prohibit more than 1 queen per hatchery UNLESS your unit is queen, meaning the queen player can spread creep for the other guy as well as spread creep over the map far more rapidly than you'd expect. They're also fairly durable units which does help and they scale pretty well with upgrades.

I dunno if I'd consider 200/200 cost and the inevitable loss of supply-generating units to be "free".
