| You could either take it to another mechanic and see if they can give you a cheaper second opinion, or pay the necessary money >.> Sometimes you get screwed, but sometimes things cost money. |

Haha, I was going to say "TL-san" but that's better. For the problem though, while I don't know much about cars in general, in my experience some places will put the cost for a diagnostic towards the repair/maintenance costs if they find something wrong with it and you decide to fix it there. It's a good way for them to get business, and good for you if you end up needing repairs. Just make sure you go to a place you trust not to screw you over. |

We're all bros here. I think it's fair to say TL-kun. Plus -sama is 1 character more than -san, which is effected by TL's restrictive character counts for topic titles.

I think it flickered on for a second, and then turned on.

I think Pep Boys is a pretty big nationwide chain that probably wont screw people over or risk getting bad press nationally. Any chains/franchises you recommend?Last edit: 2012-03-07 12:47:53 |

Go find manly men to help you. Probably only cost u a 12 pack of beer.
Some obvious things your OP didn't have:
Both lights? - Then its the light switch Single light? - grounding issue/ light burnt out (similar how fluorescent tube lights flicker when they are dieing) High beams and Low beams affected? - They are both on separate circuits so if the light flickers when your using either high/low beams then its your light switch

Could just be that the headlight connector got too hot and melted...
90 dollar diagnostic is going to be pretty much standard at any shop unless you go to the dealer (don't cause hten it'll be like 125.)

It's a single light on the passenger side. Low Beam only.

Know of any place cheaper, or a place that might just put the 90 dollars towards fixing the problem?Last edit: 2012-03-07 13:41:07 |

| Send me a pm of your post box. I'll mail over my code reader tomorrow. Just send it back to when you finish, but you have to figure out how to use it yourself. |

An OBD scanner isn't going to help him figure out if he's got a bad ground / corroded wires / burnt out light... lol
*sarcasm?*
I mean, check the connectors that hte bulbs plug in to, my car has a "famous" issue where the wires sticking out the back get all corrody and you have to re-attach the connector. |

That would take at least 3 days to send by mail. And I'd imagine shipping charges could be involved for you, and I wouldn't want you to spend money on me. I need a quicker solution. And I don't know what a code reader is, so I'm afraid I might break it or something. |

Like I said, it's not a bulb issue. They tried replacing the bulb, but the light just flickered for a bit and then turned off. They say it's probably an electrical issue. |

Just drive during the day, problem solved.
Seems like the answer would be no, but no friends that are familiar enough with cars they could take a look just to see if they can find the problem? Might be worth asking around for a friend of a friend if you really don't want to spend the money. |
