Hey guys,
my name is Baeron, I'm 19 years old and from Germany.
A few years ago I really enjoyed hanging around on the warcraft 3 battle.net. After a long time playing the singleplayer campaign I found the battle.net button. From that moment on I was playing everything I found on the customgamesection: Vampirism, Tower Defense, Shopping Maul, Wintermaul, DOTA, Hero Defense, etc. After getting bored by playing mainly Shopping Maul I found this shitty map called FOOTMEN FRENZY 5.4. ...
After some games on several hacked versions of footmen frenzy 5.4., with bugs, glitches and cheats I downloaded the official NoHunters' version of the map (I think it was something like 6.1) coincidental.
I realised that this version was much less of imbalance and cheating and much more of fun and actual "skill". So I started to check the official nohunters website out (which is sadly down by now ) and started playing their version only.
And that's how it began...
I started practicing and played several hours a day. My older brother, who always just ranted about the custom maps I played and with whom I never had to much of common interests(he is 7 years older then me), started to sit next to me and enjoyed Footman Frenzy just like me. After a week or two he started to play it on his own. We spend ours winning, losing, arguing about heroes and tactics. It was great, it was the first time in my life that I shared so much time regullary with my brother without getting mad at him. Footman Frenzy become a hobby of both of us and we started to win like 75% of all of our played games. After playing the game for some months clan-members started to recognize us and wanted to recruit us. (one of the was clan "4u" the other clan was something like "imba", I'm not to sure about the name) We didn't joined any of them, but still it felt good to be recognized and even better to kick their asses when my brother and me joined a game and faced like clan-teams only with some scrub on our team.
Then nohunters began to run a heromodel-contest, where you could present a skillset, a model, and a brief concept for the usage of the hero. I won it. From there on there was a new heroe in the game, it was called "Curser", a witchdoctor-hero made for distracting the enemy army.
My brother and me were so proud to see Ba(e)ron as the heroes' name on the screen and getting recognized by regular players in the games: "hey are you the real Ba(e)ron, after who the heroe is named?"
Then suddenly our passion for the game left us and we didn't play it anymore. With the launch of SC2 I saw it on the custom game section and I played it a few times, but it just felt wierd and wrong to play. One of the beatiful things about the original version was that you didn't have to have a brandnew computer to play it without lagging.
I wanted to get some "old shool" footy players back again to play the original wc3-footy. I don't even know if nohunters released version after 7.2, but i'd love to play this game just a few more times before I lose my interest in it forever.
So if you are in the mood for playing or can tell me when nohunters.com went down and which is the most uptodate version of the game pm me pls
Your sincerly
Baeron or Ba(e)ron
TL,DR:
I love warcraft 3 footy, if you also do want to play or have any info for me: pm me

| I played it a few times a long time ago. It was definetly fun, but I always preferred the actual version of the game. If you got some TL players together though, I would join in for a few rounds. |

| I played the living snot out of footies version 3.0, which was the best one imo. I've played many of the other versions, but felt that it got less and less interesting with the newer versions. It was a blast, and I still play from time to time. Finding games on USEast might take you about 15 minutes, but its still fun. I don't know what happened to nohunters though, gl finding them. |

| Dude, I loved this game. I always felt that WC3 and BW had the best UMS games. I don't really like the SC2 ones so far. Really cool that people are still playing. |

nothing beats footy 4.2 ar but that died with the rise of 5.4 back then, pretty much haven't logged in to battle.net anymore since a while after. |

It was one of those custom games that you joined for fun, then ended up rage-quitting because of imba. That's my memory of footman frenzy, rage-quitting while all-chat typing "IMBA F--- THAT S---" or stuff like that, heheh.
If there's a generally-accepted "balanced" map and TLers are having a get-together, I'll join in. I promise not to rage too hard. =D |

| Yes Footman Frenzy!. Me and friends used to play this a lot, but we never cared what version we were playing. So what's the latest "official" version?. |

Don't remember you, but the nohunters website went down in the middle of 2010, around when sc2 came out. I believe the latest version was something like 7.8ish. A huge nohunters 8.0 was planned and 90% of it was finished but it never got released under nohunters. Everyone pretty much just switched to sc2. Since then a german clan, clan nevo took over the "official" nohunters when roarrrrrrrr(the mapmaker in charge at the end of nohu) gave them the map. I personally really don't like the changes they did even though there's a hero in there based on me too called "monk's son".
Edit: I checked the official "nohu" tournament sheet and you weren't on there so I assume you didn't play with us. Here it is for old times sake. We used to have at least 1-2 "inhouse" or private games per night back in the day between 2009 and 2010.

Edit 2: I'll be sitting on EU(northerend) as monkeyguy69_69 for the next few hours in case anyone wants to do anything.Last edit: 2012-05-12 00:48:07 |

| Good times; Footies 3.8, when no one knew what they were doing and everything was so overpowered the game was balanced. I miss those days. |

| I remember Jaood and Blademaster getting fed by noobs and just owning the whole game by themselves. I always picked either Paladin or Shadow Hunter because I wanted to be a healer. |

@NrGmonk Thanks for the quick update! I was more of a calm lurker on the forums. I never played on one of the nohunter-tournaments or any inhouse games.
Those damn feeders always made me mad. Personally I prefered to play "goblin warfare", "nFa", "avalanche" and "metal.bark".
I would be nice to set some games together.
For everyone who is interested I would try set up some games saturday afternoon 3.00PM GMT on europe(northrend). If you wanna play just add me: Ba(e)ron or pm me so I can add you. If someone got the newest version of the map, 7.8-ish, it would be nice if he/she could give me a link to download |

| I spent way too much of my childhood playing footies. And I don't regret any of it. That game was awesome until every other map was hacked / rigged / broken. |
