Agree that Naz can never get enough credit, a lot of people in esports are straight up crazy and Naz is one of the few solid guys who knows how to promote what we do. It's relatively easy to jump on the esports bandwagon now but just think that Naz has been treating this like a real, professional job for a decade now and there was no hope of money/fame/anything like that for nearly all of it. I remember all this stuff...thanks for making me feel old! It would be cool to compile everything from the old days into a single document, although it could end up too long.
For me, the best Nazgul moment is that LT game vs. Hellghost from the first TLT. It remains the best game I've ever seen in either BW or SC2.

That was really just between me and ret / mondragon. I think we're past that now though. Obviously I'm quite good friends with ret now, and I think mondragon is ok with me now. I'm at least always happy to watch dissy play sc2 and think hes a cool guy. Ah BW times...

Man I remember back in the day Froz, Yosh, g5, (idra once), and Machine used to all go to the WCG qualifier in San Mateo where I lived. I got so mad in (2004?) when I had to play either yosh or g5 in round 1. Those were the days.
EDIT: You should totally give g5 credit in your OP shoutout spot. (Nony too ^^)

Man I remember all of this stuff, and soo much more. I remember when the koreans were not quite famous yet for sc/bw and there were tons of awesome foreign players with their own communities. Like for example Montaro the terran player, who had a website, and of course INAgent911 and the IN clan website. Then came the big boys, broodwar.com, SCLegacy and tao of gaming. Man theres soo much history involved in broodwar, you could probably write a decent sized book on it all.
Also the crazy Zia incident was pretty memorable. Zia was thought to be a girl who was pretty famous in broodwar for hanging around the top players. This even included a small online relationship with eridator/drone that turned into quite a shitfest when it leaked that zia was in fact a man posing as a woman for MANY years. Not just a month or 2, but for a very long time. It was shocking as hell when the truth came out. What made it worse was eridator/drone had lied and said they met up in person, when really they didnt cuz zia was a total man ahah.Last edit: 2012-05-22 01:29:10 |
