The last time I was writing this it was in TL, and i accidently left it up for too long so it deleted TT.

Well, thank the world for google docs.....

I guess I would have to say that this is not my first blog post in my existence, but my first on Team Liquid, so let’s see how this goes.

Well to start, I have to say this blog is to record as the blog title suggests, a journey of epic proportions, it is one that has two goals in mind. One that would be StarCraft related while the second is more of a personal one; yet I feel that doing both would prove to be helpful for both of them:
1. Get to GrandMaster league
2. Run the spartan deathrace

First of all, for those that do not know what the spartan deathrace is, then here you go: Instant Death and trust me, that one goal will take years to achieve I feel, but the first i want to get done sooner rather than later.

The question I think would be on some minds is, “why do you want to get to GM?” Personally, the thought of being one of the best StarCraft players in my region would be cool but also it has a second meaning; to become a professional gamer. I think almost all of us have those moments and thoughts of what it would be like to make it big in the professional eSports world. I have as well; however, the idea is one of those that never goes away for me. It keeps egging me on and telling me to do it and go for it. Now I am one to have a big imagination, but after some time my big crazy ideas eventually go away and just pop up here and there but always fade away. This one alas, has been around since 2004, originally with Halo (huge fan of halo) and now with StarCraft 2. granted this is actually not my first RTS game as a kid i had my way (no pun intended) with Age of Empires and Age of Mythology. For I would say about five years I dumped so many hours into those games, it was not even funny. Getting back to the topic at hand (mind you I may ramble from time to time so bear with it >.>) I got into the awesome game known as StarCraft 2 July of last year by a friend of mine. He told me to watch the Day[9] daily and follow him. For some time I did and then it dawned on me that there was a HUGE competitive scene behind it. Now coming from following Halo in 2004 (religiously followed it until about 2008, then got back into eSports with SC2) I knew about professional gaming and I have always thought about getting good enough at a game to play on a competitive level.

Now when people figure out what league I am in most will try and tell me that going pro is not worth it and even trying is meh. But when picking up this game, going to MLG Orlando and winning 2-1 against a diamond league player as silver is pretty awesome. Needless to say it gave me a boost of confidence and I feel as though if I study this game hard enough, and practice hard enough, an opportunity will arise. I am indeed hopeful, but I feel now more than ever I can get there. The only thing that is keeping me from practicing me a lot more is my race. I am in the lucky position of being random and cannot pick a race. I have the current mindset that my choice will in fact be Protoss, but Terran is what I started with and for me not a bad choice either. I know for a fact Zerg is not for me, I have tried so hard to enjoy the race but it is hard for me to deal with the ability of when to drone and when to make army. My choice will be soon enough so I hope to start my serious practice with one race.

welcome random, enjoy your stay

Obviously the second goal is different, but to clarify it is to help me get to a better me. Training for this event will obviously make me start to hit the gym, run, etc. As a kid I have had a huge issue with my weight and feel that training for this goal will help me get into a better self and healthier state of mind. I feel that in doing so it will also help my starcraft game. I strongly feel that a good mind, body, and soul (all Miyagi in this blog lol) speaks volumes how people can perform in tense and competitive situations. Getting in shape has been a huge goal of mine since I have started to become more and more overweight. One thing I do not wish to have is a future where I have major health problems due to my weight (my mother is a prime example). And if I were to make it in the world of eSports I wish to be an example to all those who would look up to me. I do not wish to show myself in a way that is somewhat not as the best as I can.

I try, but even rage is something I cannot quell.

Well I think I have talked long enough, this blog will be updated weekly with sections in StarCraft and some fitness talk. Mostly StarCraft related but if those wish to hear about my training in detail I will be more than happy to. I hope those who follow this blog will enjoy what they read and hope that they come along on this bumpy road. My end all goal? One day, I hope to change the way we think/play starcraft and hope to become a foreign light that will bring the hope of success in all that I do. Hope you enjoy the blog :D.

I'm glad you've got the mind for such dreams :D

I think that is what you really need to become a pro. Personally, I am way too self-deprecating, and cynical, to believe that I could ever get beyond... oh maybe even fucking platinum haha. But go for it, as long as it doesn't cut into other priorities, I would be happy to see your username on the empyrean list of GM.

Alright, the first thing you should work on is mechanics if you want to get anywhere.

I got them to masters level just by massing team games and going for mechanics heavy openings such as hellion openers and 1/1/1s.
I am Terranfying.
