So this is just my low level opinion on the "recent" HOTS changes. I finally decided to write about it because they're is half an hour before Code A and I don't feel like queuing up another game.
So here's my biased Terran opinion on the changes:
Hellion thing: love, although I they would have went full on autobots and could make them transform mid drive.
The spawn locust thing: love the idea, but they need to make it faster spawn time and have the locust not attack air (ala lurker)... I was like wtf when I saw that.
Ultra burrow charge: fucking terrible.. fucking terrible (for effect)..
DK: how do we make tanks even less viable in tvz with brood/viper?
DB: Um, let's think.. how did we ruin them in tvp? FUCKING CHARGE, but lets make them invisible and make shit awkwardly displace when it pops! (seriously, did you see the animation? are they even trying?)
Tempest: like the idea. I'm actually excited about that whole range business, which got me thinking.. why not just give a (much smaller) range upgrade to the poor Carrier? (while nerfing the DPS of course)
Oh and the tempest is stupid.. just the range thing I find intriguing.
Colossus: this is the biggest wtf in my mind and I'm surprised not more ppl are up in arms about this. IT'S STILL FUCKING IN THE GAME. Want me to tell you about the most devastating, most easy to use and most have-to-hard-counter unit in WOL? Don't misread, this isn't an imbalance rant because I understand it's needed in WOL even though it was a terrible unit to begin with, but why does it need to return in a NEW game even though everyone recognizes it's a shit unit and possibly a contributing factor as to why protoss is the amove race (sry for the racism, but I did warn biased blog).
Widow mine: stupid. completely botched. they first released the shredder before to be a ZONING unit, the way spider mines were used in bw (i didn't play brood war but i hear they're swell).
Zergling run by.. dont worry i have widow mines in position.. oh he just ran those 3 z's away and into my third's mineral line (LOL). Anyways, i don't know what they were trying to do with this unit apart from adding some splash to the Terran.. where the opponent isn't looking at his army and is busy texting.. id much rather see something that destroys light units so toss cant just amove chargelots into my tanks and not give a fuck. battle hellions good idea, but not everyone wants to go mech ;(
oracle: love. will actually encourage protoss to stop staring at their deathball XD
hydra thing: like.. why wasn't this in WOL again? also the attack sound is not fierce, not one bit. It was disapoint in WOL and its disapoint in HOTS
mothership core: love. but dear god I hope they change the model... a mini mothership? really blizzard? do your artists just hang around and play yu gi oh? it's as simple as sticking a motherfucking archon on top of the nexus to imitate an "energy" core
viper: love. was a bit sceptical about the hook at first but now i think its hilarious and will make for some fun games.
that new mech unit: i dont even know what to say.. just give us back the goliath with an op ground attack to keep up with the rest of HOTS
k i cant think of any more changes.. off to page 14!

| They did that so Zerg has another option in the TvZ match up. Now Terran has to find another strategy that works in this new; changed match up. It's the expansion, why would you want to buy the same game again? |

this wasn't meant as qq thread. this is me being weary about the upcoming expansion and expressing my opinion. obviously im still going to buy it, im in way too deep at this point  |

No no, your fine; I was just saying that the meta-game is expected to change in the expansion. I just don't know what your complaining about if your not qq'ing  . |

Well if that's the case, my opinion is that this game should be more of a sport, not necessarily logically sound; visually pleasing type of game. Mostly because after 10 years; what will keep the game a #1 e-Sport, nice graphic, or a competitive atmosphere where balance would be preferred over nice graphic?
EDIT: I also forgot to add after a while graphics will be outdated and even now aren't the best graphics around. Also if its lazy design that you don't like, I think that it doesn't matter how lazy it is as long as it plays a real part in the balance of the game.Last edit: 2012-06-26 14:30:43 |
