...so that's how you use girls! I always thought advertisers thought that girls have some mystical property that makes men want to buy stuff, as stated in the phrase "sex sells." Interesting. In regards to the casino commercial, I usually get turned WAY off when I see blatantly obvious shit like that. Usually, you need to be a bit more subtle. Overall nice vlog, though. A lot of it was enlightening or thought-provoking. Also, wtf is with this "based Kennigit" stuff? Last edit: 2012-07-08 02:26:20 |

LoL, I think the gsl does it best, have the hot chicks do their dance at the beginning then have the pros do their thing. TBH, I though you were going to talk about scarlet lol, more poeple know about her than that alive won ipl4.
But when you asked the question, I though you were gunna be tricky and say "sponsors" or something. I knew alive won. can pretty much list every champion of every tournament in order from memory lol. And most scores. |

We'll never get to anywhere if we have people screwing around with semantics for even the simplest thoughts.
If girls are going to be part of a tournament's productions, they shouldn't take the show away from the players. This means better camera angles for one. Also, we shouldn't have incompetent people doing interviews (which hasn't really been a problem lately as far as I can tell).
I was pretty careful with my wording because I know how easily you get sidetracked by words like "use" and "if". Let's be reasonable.
If your house is malfunctioning, you take it apart piece by piece, brick by brick, until you find the problem. If you have a sentence and you want to find out how exactly it's creating meaning, you unpack it to find which words are problematic. If the deconstructive process offends you ... I suppose the only suggestion I can make is to be a better builder - though perhaps it's worth noting that I wasn't attacking him in particular, I was criticising the bias that he unfortunately made quotable.
Compare the phrase "If we use girls, we should use them correctly" to "eSports content makers should make more appropriate feature of the community's hosts and personalities".
The question of "if girls are going to be part of part of live eSports productions" shouldn't even be on the table. How about "if we're going to have hosts for live tournaments, they shouldn't take the show away from the players"? And I think the real value in Kennigit's vlog is that it does use a few examples beyond Seltzer wearing low-cut tops and Anna Prosser in sequined dresses - so perhaps it's again unfortunate (though a little self-fulfilling) that people are unable to look past the hot girls when articulating thoughts on the greater issue.Last edit: 2012-07-08 08:55:33 |

| Oh wow the framing point is hilarious. Even watching this video, after prying my eyes off Kennigit's sexy face of course, the first thing I noticed was the window towards the top left and only registered the ironing board after the framing was pointed out. |

Huh? If your house is malfunctioning, why would you take it apart piece by piece, brick by brick? That's a terrible way to do it. Let's say the "malfunction" is that there's a giant amount of water on the floor. Do you go through brick by brick looking for the problems? No, you trace the water back to the gushing pipe and fix that. You don't go through brick by brick. You don't really care that one brick is cracked and another is miscolored. Those are minor points. The big point is that you've got a pipe gushing water.
Kennegit is noticing one of the gushing pipes that's washing away a casual person's interest in E-Sports and trying to point it out to the community. Whether or not his presentation happens to have a cracked brick in it is irrelevant to the problem. The fact that you were able to re-word his sentence for him in a less offensive (to you) manner, means that you got the point he was trying to convey.
If anyone who talks has to scrutinize every single word before trying to make a point, then you'll soon find that nobody will make points anymore because they can barely put out more than a sentence or two. |
