I'm typing this from my phone because I don't have computer available at the moment, so I apologize if the formatting is a little weird.
I've reached a point in my life where I will no longer be able to be a part of this community do to real life issues. I've never taken the time to write a blog before, but chances are, this will be my last post for a while.
Some of you may recognize me from sc2 lr threads. That's where I've spent a majority of my time posting. I really enjoyed LR threads because it allowed me to converse with other people about a hobby I loved. I was never really that great of a sc2 player (only made it to diamond league), but I loved watching games. I'd watch almost any tournament I could. I was introduced to teamliquid by my college roommate in Fall 2010 during GSL Open Season 1. The first game of professional SC2 that I ever watched was the finals between Fruitdealer and Rainbow. Although it wasn't the best series, it was a spark for my interest. I proceeded to lurk for a while until around the time TSL3 started. I don't know if you guys remember, but there was a bracket contest for TSL3. In order to enter, you had to make an account. My game ID has been Shellshock since I was 11; so, naturally, I attempted to register by that name. However, the name was taken by some guy I've never seen post on TL over the last 2 years, so I settled for tossing the numbers on the end of my name.
I started out by only following GSL, because that was what my roommate watched since he was an IdrA fan and that's where IdrA played during that time. TSL3 is what opened me up to the foreign scene and this great community. Eventually, my friends all lost interest in the pro scene of sc2. They would occasionally check updates but none of them would stay up with me until 5 am to catch gstl. We stopped getting together to watch MLG and Dreamhack. They all started to move on, but for some reason, I didn't want to. This was the first game I followed professionally. I wasn't a Quake guy or a BW guy. I felt some sort of attachment to this community and I didn't want to just up and leave.
I'm not saying I stopped being friends with them in real life. We still hang out all the time and do other things. It just felt weird being the only one of my friends watching starcraft. Eventually, I started posting more in LR and I guess my post volume has gotten kind of ridiculous. However, as I posted more, people would start having discussions with me specifically. Gradually, I made a small group of LR friends which made it fun to watch sc2 again.
The community in the LR thread are like a group of close friends for me now. I just want you all to know that I appreciate all of you. You kept starcraft 2 fun for me. Sure, sometimes it gets a little whiny or I don't always agree with what some of you say, but the open discussion really made it awesome. I would have lost interest long ago if it weren't for TL.net. I love this site for all the good times it has provided me. I wish I had given back more. I'm sorry and sad that I have to leave. I just wanted you guys to know that I love you. <3
Keep sc2 and esports alive! You guys are the best.
