Only half of a captcha is sensitive, and it will always look like the second word in the one you posted. The other part is a scan from a text that is being digitized.

The way captchas work is that 1 word is taken from a book or something so that transcription doesnt need to be done.
The second word (the computer generated one) is the only one that you need to get. |

Yeah, nitrogen with only 2 bonds isn't stable. But remember that these are scanned and the scan probably just missed the lone pair / charge (if resonance structure or something). |

The most ridiculous captcha I ever saw was when Rapidshare introduced their cat system. They would show you a string of letters where some would have cats painted on them and some would have dogs. You would need to enter only letters with cats. The problem is, sometimes it was very hard to decipher which is a dog and which is a cat. Example:

Funniest thing is, it was hacked and auto-recognized by a program while humans still had trouble deciphering the cats from dogs. Rapidshare removed captchas altogether shortly after. |
