Wondering how I'm typing this? I'm using an HP Pavilion dv6. Those of you familiar with this product may know that it has a quickweb function that activates before booting windows. IE I can still use the internet perfectly fine, but I can't use any applications. This leads me to believe that my motherboard isn't damaged, though I don't know jack shit about computers.
I read online that there's a way to flash the bios using a USB drive, but I can't figure out how to do it. When I hold the windows key + b before powering on, it claims to do a bios recovery, but that doesn't work either. On the verification stage it literally skips from 10% to 70%, or roughly 700ish blocks of data. Then it boots back to the flashing _ symbol.
I'm asking for some help on this, as I really don't have the time or money to send this thing in for a proper repair.
Thanks!
If you can still boot into the hp thingy then your bios is fine. Im thinking that your windows mbr is a little "misshapen" and thats why you cant boot into windows. do you have your windows recovery disk? |
