I played a few games last night and totally didn't have my head in it! I lost outright by playing extremely poorly. One thing to note is that I didn't start off playing by writing a bit of blogging, so it's highly likely that my brain didn't have time to 'tune in' properly before jumping in, and like jumping into a cold pool, my brain was probably a bit numb with shock.
So here we are tonight, in a similar frame of mind where I'm done doing whatever else I was doing tonight and sort-of-feel-like-playing-but-sort-of-not. I was able to crack through that kind of barrier in other aspects of creative life by doing this journal-writing beforehand. Let's see if it can work to crack the barrier with SC2 too.
(A little later...)
Oh hey, I just got promoted to gold! Looks like this whole journal-before-play thing really does help my brain out.
Haha, great to hear! I always love hearing how people get promoted. And especially to gold, oh man, I don't know about you, but I actually began to have a scrap of respect for my StarCraft play when I finally got that DIVINE promotion. And hey, that's actually a really good idea, to journal or intellectually stimulate yourself before playing a game. Like warming up your mind. I think I'll start doing that.
