stomache pain, can't sleep :(

right so .. why would i write a blog at 6 in the morning.. welp, cause it's the third time i have this more or less sudden ridiculous stomach pain. i guess it's some kind of acidic reflux crap, includes a nice feeling of having to eruct, but nothing happens even when trying hard. i've downed a glass of milk and it feels a *little* better, but still hurts. The last time, my soon to be step mother gave me some weird tea she had, caraway fennel anise, that didn't really do all that much.

The sad thing is, i've dropped like 7 or 8 kg since march, i'm probably eating healthier than ever, but only since then this started occurring. i don't know why it occured the first time, can't remember. there it happened in the middle of the day. The second time i ate a pizza at some slightly weird snack bar thing which was really fatty, and bang, stupid pain the night after. And today .. well, idk, i didn't eat any low quality or very high fat food like that pizza certainly, but i ate quite a lot the last two evenings, so that might be what caused it today. I guess only eating controlled sized portions for some time has made my digestive system kind of intolerant?

what's really annoying though is, that everything just completely overreacts. Although the pain doesn't change at all no matter what i do, i go into this instinctive careful-mode where i feel like i need to get into a different position every 10 minutes because my brain goes like "it might be positioning related, right?" and i only breathe very shallow and sit kind of crunched as to relax that region as much as possible. But none of that helps at all. Even if i consciously do the exact opposite, it doesn't get any worse, so all that effort is essentially worthless and just keeps my brain occupied, preventing me focusing and doing something useful while i'm unable to sleep -.- so well, why not write a blog eh?

anyhow, i'm not asking for a diagnosis because that's a stupid thing to do on the internet. My doctors phones open at 8:30, so i still have a good two hours to go until i can make an appointment. I tried making one last time, but they were on vacation then and being the lazy ass i am i didn't make an appointment when they were back because nothing had been wrong for two weeks a that point x) welp. So, i guess i kinda deserve this round. I hope they won't be like "uhh you better come in asap" or anything, since a craftsman is coming by here at like 9 to put up a small wall thingy, so leaving would be kind of bad..

while surely nobody can remember my last blogs, i promised to include pics and didn't last time, so i guess i kind of have to now.. however, since i don't have anything on topic, i'll make this the probably last time i put up any pics of our cats.

reinventing the stove

While one of the two died early this year after she grew suuuuper weak because she just kind of stopped eating at the age of ~16, the other one (age 15) suddenly got huge medical issues, frequently breathing heavy and in severe pain right after whenever he started moving. he was breathing heavy before, it just got massively worse within like a single day. We took him to the vet who was kind of like "i'm not touching that". due to a quickly discovered, horrible heart arrhythmia (to the point there the heart monitor couldn't figure out the heart rate and just spat out garbage), the vet was afraid he might just die right away from the stress of being examined further.

Well, some meds later he got a little more stable and so we put him up for an x-ray to see what kind of damage his heart had suffered, only to find that he had massive amounts of fluid in his lung as well with tons of little lung cancer dots. The vet said, he might have a month left.

During these next weeks you could clearly see the issues he had. The liquid in his lungs along with the cancer metastases gave him real trouble getting enough air. He spent most of his time just sitting on the couch sphinx-style to get as much breathing volume as possible. the hardest part was probably, that he had to sleep this way, which is rather uncomfortable.

sleeping uncomfortably, but at least sleeping..

Well, he kept at it for another ten or so weeks instead of the predicted four, before, one night, he died of a heart attack within like five minutes (which may sound rather horrible, but was the best ending we could hope for, i really did not want to have to drag him back to the vet another time in his condition).

That's the couch where he essentially spent his final weeks on, he didn't leave that spot much anymore. This was the last time that he managed to sleep in a different pose. no clue why, but it was relieving to see.

So now, without cats, no more new cat pics. ;( I won't get any other cats for a while either, because my flat really isn't big enough to hold cats. I just had these two living with me because they were our family cats who lived here since forever and were too old to attempt to move them somewhere else. The idea was to have them spent the rest of their time at my place, and that's pretty much exactly what happened. But for younger cats, this isn't really viable, especially considering our neighbor's three-legged fighter cat, who's responsible for that little scar that you can kind of see on the first pic, right next to the left eye at the border of grey and white fur (looks like just more fur but isn't). he's a little incompatible with other cats and due to the missing leg essentially has bonus muscle training, he's usually the one who wins.

Finally, minor update on my own condition: I guess that milk did help after all, it just takes a little over an hour. My stomach pain appears gone, which is great because rather than the 6 to 8 hours it took the last two times for it to disappear, i got away with just two hours today. If some of you would be so kind to "remind" me to make an appointment about an hour from now, that would be great, because probably i again won't do it on my own after my symptoms have disappeared, might require a bit of a kick in the ass.

Anyhow, to close of with one of the most funny pics i have left: this one is a little older, back from when he was fairly well still. He used to always just sleep on my bed back then, but since you have to change sheets every now and then:

It could be IBS. I went through a particularly intense, painful bout of that for about a week a few months back.

Yeah kinda sounds like IBS. That's a lot of weight loss though so idk. Maybe a tapeworm is eating all of your food for you.

well it's not all that much weight loss i think. i'm pretty tall, so 7kg is 95 down to 88. i don't know about the drop rate, but overall in weight i'm perfectly within acceptable bounds. The weight loss was intentional as well, it didn't happen just like that, i just did some controlled eating instead of just eating whatever and that worked out pretty good. It's not like that disappeared on it's own ;P

Sounds like your gallbladder. It's job is to secrete bile when you eat fatty foods, bile helps break down the fats so you body can absorb it.

If you have some inflammation, infection, or gall stones in your gallbladder or bile duct, then every time your gallbladder squeezes out bile (after eating fatty food) its gonna hurt. The pain is usually described by patients as painful in the right upper abdomen, that comes in waves on and off, usually around 30 minutes after eating fatty foods.

Its something you obviously need to see your doctor about

Best of luck to her then! Make sure she's eating enough, otherwise most issues get somewhat accelerated. In the later days i pretty much shared my regular food with my cat. i often make a salad thingy where i put cooked chicken in it, and especially the raw chicken before cooking is an absolute cat favorite. i know you shouldn't do that but hey, he was super ill already so whatever it could cause wouldn't have made any difference anymore, so better give him something he basically just breathes in instead of the regular stuff where he takes two bites and then ignores the rest.. i once gave him just one rather big chunk instead of several smaller pieces and he just downed the whole thing in a few seconds. Even if that's just a one time thing, it's so good to see if your cat is usually very hesitant to touch any food and you have to spent 10 minutes to convince him to eat at least something or try three different tastes or whatever :/

doesn't sound like it. It's not to the right but in the center, right behind the onset of the breastbone. And doesn't come in waves, just once every few weeks but then for up to 8 hours straight with essentially no change.

I experience the same thing. I have changed my diet to a more healthy one and lost a lot of weight. I also stopped smoking and cut down on my drinking. What's the reward? Acid reflux. I never had that shit when I was living like an unhealthy pig but now I have it from time to time. I don't know why but it sucks.

drop me a note if you happen to find a solution. maybe a scheduled big mac once a week or something x) although i would almost assume these have enough biochemical engineering mixed into them that they won't cause any issues even if they fulfill all required criteria, whatever those may be exactly.

Generally speaking, if you switch to high quality foods from a crappy food diet before it make take some time to adapt.

Although, acid reflux / gallbladder stuff may be an issue above.

Keep on eating healthy though... well, what are you eating anyway?

In that case, go to your doctor and ask for a drug called a proton pump inhibitor. These are great drugs for people who have reflux and i'm always astounded by the number of people who suffer from reflux but aren't using them.

No issues keeping that up, i find it's surprisingly easy to get kind of grossed out by various weird factory products really fast once you stop eating them Oo so chances of relapse are minimal. as to what i'm eating.. well i'm not the most healthy eater certainly, but i improved a bunch. Zero junk food or soft drinks, no candy. I basically live of water, bread with some coverings like cold cut or a slice of cheese, tons of fruit. I frequently make salad with like corn and peppers and some plain cooked chicken breast in it. Occasionally a glas of orange juice, cheap spaghetti with tomato sauce boxes from the grocery store that you just need to cook and they are done are probably the worst offenders. Add whatever my mom cooks up when she invites me over once a week or so or seldomly eating out at some restaurant, but that's about it. The biggest shortfalls are probably lack of variation and especially vegetables, cause i'm lazy ^^

/edit: oh and a small bowl of frosted mini-wheats with milk for breakfast usually
