I think it's a good song, although it was arranged by Rick Rubin after Cash's death. The song itself is pretty old, and has been recorded many times by a wide range of musicians, from Elvis to Moby.
The message is pretty solemn, but I love Cash's voice in this song.

Yeah I'm sure most people think that's better. I think the video really makes that song though. Mark Romanek talks about it on his director's label dvd, it's pretty interesting to listen to.

No that's cool. The moby video is kinda neat, but I don't really understand the appeal of the song. It's so camp and overwrought, I can barely even get through it without rolling my eyes.
