I'm using a Samsung 225BW monitor with a native resolution of 1600X1050. I recently installed a new driver for my Geforce 5200FX. It allows me to use 1600X1050 resolution.

Here's where it gets tricky. I picked t hat resultion for the driver, and now instead of giving me the resultion, it's using the same shitty resolution as before, but when i move the mouse to the edge of the screen, it scrolls to show the rest of the resultion.

So now the monitor looks like shit and I have this ridiculous scrolling problem, and I have absolutely no idea how to fix it.

Pleae help!

Are you sure you have the aspect ratio right? I don't think 1600X1050 is a standard ratio. My widescreen uses 1.6:1 so try 1680X1050.

I'm running with a Samsung 216BW which runs 16x10 resolution.

1680x1050 = 16x10 widescreen
1440x900 = 16x10 widescreen
1600x1200 = 4x3 standard
1280x720 = 16x9 widescreen
1366x768 = 16x9 widescreen

It appears the 225bw is indeed 16x10, so 1680x1050 should be working just fine. My guess is either you don't have the correct monitor/video card drivers, or that video card cannot support resolutions that high, although I'm quite sure it can. My guess is it's a driver problem.

Hope this helps in some way possible.

So far as I know, monitors themselves do not have drivers

As for the video card, I installed the most recent available driver for that video card just today. It purports to offer support for up to that high of a resolution. But for some damned reason, its putting that resolution on a scroll. It's stupid.

Yeah, I meant any sort of software which came with it.
I wish I could help more. I'm sure you've already done so, but just Google search and see if anyone else is having the same problem, I seem to be able to solve 100% of my computer issues that way.

They do. Most of the time the Windows PnP works fine. Try this driver for the 225BW:

One more thing, are you sure it supports 1680x1050 over the connection your using? For example the vid card could support it over VGA, but not over DVI.
