I just got back from Washington D.C. after 4 exhausting days moderating people's caucuses. I was wondering if anybody on Teamliquid went to the conference or did Model U.N. at all? I had a blast because my committee SPQR- Senatus Populus Que Romanus - was composed of some of the chillest people I've ever delegated with. I definitely prefer smaller committees to the chaos of the general assemblies and we all had a hell of a good time.

I was in Model U.N. all 4 years in HS. It was such a blast! The best part was the big conference in Berkeley every year. I LOVE THAT CITY!

I did MUN freshman year, stopped doing it. Some of my friends still do it though and in fact went to NAIMUN. Don't think they were on your committee though.

I was in MUN freshman year but dropped out it after a couple meetings. My friends who are still in it talk about the conference now and then

I did Model UN one year and it was such a waste of time. Half the people there put their personal views over their respective countries. And most of them were Jews with their hardcore pro-Israel attitude when their countries were clearly very anti Israel. Was just aggravating to deal with.

Edit: I just realized I had done Model Arab League. Was 5-6 years ago.

Haw, I used to go talk to the model UN people to see how much they actually knew about their countries. As expected, most didn't even know enough basic history to defend their positions or even know what their countries' positions were.
