+ Show Spoiler [History] +Season 2 Kick-Off: ALL-STAR MATCH September 5, 2009 8PM EST http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE6Fy6YYubs + Show Spoiler +Thanks to d3_crescentia, who wrote the song that I fondly dub: Basket Chair and Homo Stare. It all started as a different kind of Rush.In February 2009, collegiate sports expanded into a new domain, a domain where athletes meet not on green fields or worn floorboards, but instead in the digital arenas of the computer strategy game Starcraft: Brood War. In the first season, we saw crowds cheer – both with their hands and with their livestream spam – as mutalisks were microed over SCV-lines with surgical precision, stim-packed marines rolled Zerg defences, and mid-game probe rushes failed miserably. What started as a showmatch between Princeton and MIT rapidly grew into a storm where 25 US colleges and additional international guests competed for glory and fame in Starcraft. Teams assembled. Players gathered in V formations. Gamers posed in front of ambiguous statues. The competition gave way to many vicious battles -- zealots slaughtered zerglings, ultralisks tore through marines, keyboards clacked, computers crashed, gerbils were fed, and cookies were baked. Cookies were not fed to said gerbils.* Victory, however, came with a price. GPAs suffered as finals approached. Gastrointestinal disorders struck down many a player. Love lives suffered. Anonymous: I'm quitting girls because of StarCraft. But amongst the teams, the few with the mental fortitude, the hunger, and the sheer willpower to win clawed their way to the finals. UC Berkeley tore through Georgia Tech in the First round of playoffs, and let academics finish off McGill as final exams approached for the Canadian school system. UTexas stomped Caltech and edged a win against Rutgers - the house of Nesh, clazziquai, and CapO. UTexas was good - good enough to make it to the finals - but Berkeley had a secret weapon: + Show Spoiler +UC Berkeley - the First university to include a StarCraft class in its curriculum - boasted academically trained killers in its lineup, including the PROFESSOR OF STARCRAFT, Nimue. UTexas's apprehension was apparent: Q: What is your biggest Unknown about Berkeley? Your biggest fear?
A: Along with Texas, Berkeley has one of the highest percentage of Asians in their student body. So the biggest Unknown and also fear is whether or not their entire lineup is composed of Asians, and whether or not they are better than our all-Asian lineup. In the End, Berkeley dominated Texas in an impressive 3-0. Looks like Berkeley had the better Asians.
SEASON TWO KICK-OFF – September 5, 8PM EST
To start off the new season, we’re pitting last season's greatest stars against each other - for glory, for fame, and for the enjoyment of their viewers. The word 'epic' might be thrown around a lot, but I think it's safe to say that this will be EPIC. More schools, more coverage, and more commentaries will make this fall a Starcraft-packed adventure of fun – especially with the return of CholeraSC, Moletrap, and DiggitySC’s entertaining audiocasts.
Berkeley, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, McGill, MIT, and UTexas are amassing their brightest minds and quickest hands to play together and against each other in an All Star format. In a best of five, our most renowned and skillful players will see which universities have the best cyber-athletes. Berkeley proved victorious in season 1 - will they prevail this time around? These are the rosters, and hell will be unleashed on SEPTEMBER 5, 2009, 8PM EST:
j2.joLin - Ride of Valkyries - Tifa clazziquaiMeatpost[AoV] - Athena II - Freaky gt.rOo His substituteeu.ziz - Shades of Twilight - Nesh ToT)yosh( - God's Garden - StRyKeR ACE: Outsider
Ultralisks will roar and Manlots will shout 'For Aiur!' but not before our All Star Players bellow their own cries of trash-talk. Nesh likens himself to a Ghost – because since he went undefeated through the entire First season, he must Really be that badass. Yosh is feeling adventurous and predicts Battle Cruisers, Nukes and Infested Terrans – whereas his opponent StRyKeR knows no fear and brags, ‘I Love beating Terran players and listening to marines die to Lurker spines. I hope Yosh goes bionic against me.’ joLin simply states that 'I will own Tifa,’ his opponent who also attends UTexas.
The heat is on, make sure to tune in to the Live stream on www.ustream.tv/channel/collegiate-starleague , casted by none other than CholeraSC and Day[9].
Pre-game Interviews
+ Show Spoiler +“I think I will own tifa.”+ Show Spoiler +
Thank you for participating in our all-star match! Tell us a little about yourself and your university. I'm Allen, I'm 22 and going into my 5th year of college at the University of Texas and I have no idea what I'm going to do with my life. Texas is awesome.
If you had to be one StarCraft unit, who would you be and why? An ultralisk because they're strong and invicible.
Who's your favorite progamer? GoRush. He and July were on their way to the top of progaming when I started playing so I watched them a lot and I Always preferred GoRush's management Style over July's aggression.
What are your plans for the future? Like I said above, I have no idea...I'm going to be going to school for a bit more then we'll see.
What are your thoughts about CSL season 1? It was a lot of fun playing and planning for the matches. The organization was great as well. I was surprised that there were such few no-shows (since people usually stop caring about fun events without prizes midway through it), something probably owed to the college aspect of the league, which brought about a lot of camaraderie within the teams, at least in ours.
Are there any funny, frustrating, or inspiring CSL team moments that you'd like to share? The most inspiring moments to me were the two 2v2 matches that we won 1v2. David and Kevin were each reduced to 1v2 at some Point and both were able to pull out wins. I also have to recognize the rest of our team...everyone was Always punctual to matches and everyone was flexible and easy to work with. Also to Peter for being the most hardworking member and practicing a lot.
Do you recognize any of your new teammates for this All Star match? Do you recognize any of your opponents? Well..my opponent is from my team!
What do you think the results of this match will be? I think I will own tifa.
Any predictions for season 2? Season 2 will probably be a lot more difficult than season 1 since CSL's popularity increased so much as the season went on. There will probably be a lot of new schools and tough players.
Do you have any thoughts or plans for Starcraft 2? I'll probably play it...other than that, no idea!
“wat” + Show Spoiler +
Thank you for participating in our all-star match! Tell us a little about yourself and your university. I Study BME at UT. The school produces its own utilities, of which the City of Austin rents from.
If you had to be one StarCraft unit, who would you be and why? (no comment)
Who's your favorite progamer? sAviOr
What are your plans for the future? Job / grad school
What are your thoughts about CSL season 1? Compared to the rest of these amateur _SLs, pretty good as far as coverage and organization. Now that Live streaming has become more popular, season 2 can be even better.
Are there any funny, frustrating, or inspiring CSL team moments that you'd like to share? We never practiced. Everyone says that but literally match Day would be upon us and we would look back at what maps we had to play on thinking hmm have I Ever seen this map before?
Do you recognize any of your new teammates for this All Star match? Do you recognize any of your opponents? wat
What do you think the results of this match will be? I'd be willing to put Money on a tie.
Any predictions for season 2? No but hopefully it will be better run.
Do you have any thoughts or plans for Starcraft 2? That will be for my computer to decide.
Any final words, or messages for your fans? How about for your opponents? Hello, this is tifa from the UT CSL team. I never knew so many foreigners kept up with this. Thanks for cheering us on, I will do my best to show good games in the future. (editors note: ahahahahaha)
“Our Side will win, of course ^^”+ Show Spoiler +
Thank you for participating in our all-star match! Tell us a little about yourself and your university.
My name is Hyung, and I will be a second year student at Rutgers University. My Major is business, although I was studying Engineering the year before. I have met a lot of great people at Rutgers and had a great First year. The school itself is very diverse and has a great environment.
If you had to be one StarCraft unit, who would you be and why?
Who's your favorite progamer? My favorite progamer is Sea.Really from eSTRO. Ever since he beat BeSt on Katrina, I have been following him since.
What are your plans for the future? Continue playing Starcraft and get my degree.
What are your thoughts about CSL season 1? For us, the CSL Season 1 was in a way, disappointing. But that is not because of the organizers' faults. It was mainly due to the fact that we had many forfeits in the beginning of the season due to no-shows. I hope that will not happen in Season 2.
Are there any funny, frustrating, or inspiring CSL team moments that you'd like to share?
Yes! With Nesh and CapO being our aces, they were the reason we got so far. I remember in the First playoffs game vs USC, we were facing USC, and CapO could not make it. Long story short if we lost 1 series, it would be extremely tough to win it all. However in the End, we pulled through with a 3-0 victory.
Do you recognize any of your new teammates for this All Star match? Do you recognize any of your opponents? I know tifa and Nesh.
What do you think the results of this match will be? Our Side will win, of course ^^
Any predictions for season 2? It will be far better than Season 1.
Do you have any thoughts or plans for Starcraft 2? Not Really, but I will definitely give it a Chance.
Any final words, or messages for your fans? How about for your opponents?
GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN!
"... hopefully I'll dismantle him <3!"+ Show Spoiler + Thank you for participating in our all-star match! Tell us a little about yourself and your university. I'm Sami, I'm 23 and just graduated and i'm currently an electrical engineer and I'm going to work on my masters.
If you had to be one StarCraft unit, who would you be and why? Mutalisk because I like to play and hit on 3 things at once
Who's your favorite progamer? Jaedong, he's just the best ... that's it... do I even need to continue my explanation?
What are your plans for the future? I'm going to work on my masters and try to finish it in 1 year and a half while working at this internet company to make money, then I plan to go to Bali .
What are your thoughts about CSL season 1? It was fun because I didn't have to organize anything and I didn't get mad, everything was just there and already done, all we had to do is play which is always great :D. Hopefully season 2 is as good but I expect it to be 10x better.
Are there any funny, frustrating, or inspiring CSL team moments that you'd like to share? Well, I don't usually play a lot during the school year, because I'm busy with school, soccer, working out, working and so on, so it's great to have some set times to play sc where I'm sure I'll have fun.
Do you recognize any of your new teammates for this All Star match? Do you recognize any of your opponents? Stryker is on ]eX[ with me so we get to talk a lot and play together. I hope he beats yosh zvt, I think he will. I used to play with nesh all the time as well, he's really an unorthodox player. I also recognize yosh, he's a great guy.
What do you think the results of this match will be? I have no idea who my opponent clazziquai is but hopefully I'll dismantle him <3!
Any predictions for season 2? I think sc2 will be less macro oriented than sc1 but I've never played the game so I wouldn't know, hopefully it isn't. I really do like the graphics though, but I don't think my graphics card will be good enough :'(!
Do you have any thoughts or plans for Starcraft 2? No clue, I'll try it out at a friends house, and if I like it, I'll play it I guess, if I don't then I won't.
Any final words, or messages for your fans? How about for your opponents? I hope I can get Oldy to play for team McGill this season even though we don't need him to win it all. As for clazziquai, gl... have fun and enjoy yourself for the next couple of days
“My name is Kwonsam Lee”+ Show Spoiler +Thank you for participating in our all-star match! Tell us a little about yourself and your university. My name is Kwonsam Lee majoring Computer Science in Georgia Tech. I am graduating next spring. If you had to be one StarCraft unit, who would you be and why? Observer because I can be invisible? Who's your favorite progamer? I don't have any favorite one but i will say Jaedong cuz he is the best for now. What are your plans for the future? Web Programmer. What are your thoughts about CSL season 1? need more participants. Are there any funny, frustrating, or inspiring CSL team moments that you'd like to share? none. Do you recognize any of your new teammates for this All Star match? Do you recognize any of your opponents? nope What do you think the results of this match will be? better team will win. Any predictions for season 2? hope we have improved homepage for the league Do you have any thoughts or plans for Starcraft 2? First i need to get new computer to play that. Only game that runs on my laptop is broodwar. Any final words, or messages for your fans? How about for your opponents? I dont have fans, but i have a word for my opponent. You win. “Well, I was undefeated the entire series”+ Show Spoiler +
Thank you for participating in our all-star match! Tell us a little about yourself and your university. My name is Dhinesh and I am a mechanical engineering student at Rutgers University. I Just graduated recently. Rutgers is huge and I enjoy that because you get to meet a lot of people. However, since I am an engineer, I never had classes in different campuses. That’s ok because I partied in the other campuses. ;D Here is an interesting fact about me; my handle is my nick name.
If you had to be one StarCraft unit, who would you be and why? I would be a Ghost. They are bad ass.
Who's your favorite progamer? Hmm, Of all time, probably NaDa but recently its Flash or fantasy.
What are your plans for the future? Well, I need to find a job but I been lazy. I am trying to go pro at poker but we will see how that goes ;D.
What are your thoughts about CSL season 1? CSL was well organized and Really fun to play in. Also, the community Really enjoyed it. Some of my friends came up to me and told me they seen my match on YouTube which surprises me. It is popular with people who don’t even play games competitively.
Are there any funny, frustrating, or inspiring CSL team moments that you'd like to share? Well, I was undefeated the entire series. I feel bad that I wasn’t able to support my team and win the event for them.
Do you recognize any of your new teammates for this All Star match? Do you recognize any of your opponents? Yes, I know clazz cause we both attend Rutgers and he was the one who recruited me to join CSL. I also know yosh cause he is amazing.
What do you think the results of this match will be? Finals will probably be between Yosh and Stryker due to the fact I am inactive.
Any predictions for season 2? None
Do you have any thoughts or plans for Starcraft 2? Yes, but Only play for fun
Any final words, or messages for your fans? How about for your opponents? Clazz is my number 1 fan. I am glad he supports me =]. Good luck to everyone.
“Who knows, literally anything can happen. You might even see some BCs, nukes, and infested terrans.”+ Show Spoiler +
Thank you for participating in our all-star match! Tell us a little about yourself and your university. Hi, my name is Sherwin Mahbod, I'm 23, male, and I like reading by the Fire and taking long walks on the beach. I'm a grad student at UC Berkeley and I most recently co-taught a StarCraft game theory class at the Haas Business School. I also work as an investment analyst and try to play StarCraft in the evenings.
If you had to be one StarCraft unit, who would you be and why? Well, most people that know me and play with me know I've been kind of a UMS addict for the past while, so, my favorite unit has to be none other than General Edmund Duke. Sure he has 400hp and does 150dmg, but above all, there is some oddly appealing sexual tension between him and Kerrigan (you may have heard some of their lines), and damn he's got it made in the shade.
Who's your favorite progamer? Every Terran player has to say Flash or fantasy because they are Just so good. But I try to watch all pro Terran vods if/when I can.
What are your plans for the future? I'll continue to work, Study, and ride out this economic downturn. I hope to play StarCraft in the evenings. I didn't participate in the WCG qualis because I know I won't be able to play during the time of the finals. Until then, I'll be a practice partner for anyone that asks. Oh, and I'll try to cut down on the UMS (no promises though).
What are your thoughts about CSL season 1? I liked CSL Season 1. I got to play some Nice matches (1 was broadcasted). I hope the CSL expands and becomes a league on a truly national level.
Are there any funny, frustrating, or inspiring CSL team moments that you'd like to share? Not particularly, but hopefully there will be some (the funny and/or inspiring ones) this season.
Do you recognize any of your new teammates for this All Star match? Do you recognize any of your opponents? I recognize almost everyone on the list. I played against Tifa on Othello earlier in the season; I used to practice with Freaky in 2005; I played against Nesh a few times years ago; I don't think I've played with Stryker yet, but I know he's in ]eX[ ; and Clazz is one of my life partners... for UMS; the rest, I hope to meet soon (E/N: Clazz sure does get around)
What do you think the results of this match will be? Who knows, literally anything can happen. You might even see some BCs, nukes, and infested terrans.
Any predictions for season 2? I thought it would be released in my lifetime, but now I'm not so sure.
Do you have any thoughts or plans for Starcraft 2? No plans yet, we'll see how the game turns out.
Any final words, or messages for your fans? How about for your opponents? Thanks to everyone who followed my games in years past, it's a great feeling to have that support and very inspiring to have a fanbase. If anyone Ever wants a game, don't hesitate to ask on iccup. For my opponents: let's have some clean matches, nothing below the belt.

Thank you for participating in our all-star match! Tell us a little about yourself and your university. My name is HyuN SoO Kim and I Just graduated from MIT. There are many good Starcraft players at MIT. The Korean students from abroad tend to be very good. If you had to be one StarCraft unit, who would you be and why? The Defiler.
It has two of the best spells in the game. Its avatar is bad-ass. It looks like a disgusting centipede. Zergs cannot beat Terrans without it.
Who's your favorite progamer? Jaedong is an amazing player. He's got everything. Not Only is he a very fast player who is meticulous enough to worry about the small moments requiring micro, he plays smart and prepares builds that absolutely destroy the opponent's builds. His passion for winning is godly. He's the kind of player who I know would succeed outside of Starcraft. What are your plans for the future? Get into some legitimate Starcraft tournaments and win them.
What are your thoughts about CSL season 1? great idea. It brings people together under Starcraft. Are there any funny, frustrating, or inspiring CSL team moments that you'd like to share? Not Really. Do you recognize any of your new teammates for this All Star match? Do you recognize any of your opponents? Freaky is in my clan eXpertise. I've played Nesh before.
Yosh? Who's Yosh? Some B.Net pubby noob?
What do you think the results of this match will be? 3-0 for us if Freaky practices his ZvT. If I have to play, 3-1 or 3-2. Any predictions for season 2? It'll be bigger. I hope it gets more publicity and followers.
Do you have any thoughts or plans for Starcraft 2? I wanna try it out. I dearly hope that the original Starcraft still lives on. Any final words, or messages for your fans? How about for your opponents? I Love beating Terran players and listening to marines die to Lurker spines. I hope Yosh goes bionic against me.
Thank you, everyone – coordinators, players, and supporters alike – for making CSL what it is today. A special thank you to d3_crescentia for composing the CSL intro, alienz/radiantblue/wenbo for agreeing to look like homosexual emo boys, the CSL team for churning out this hype, and VoE for casting all our games.
Thanks also to all the All Stars from Season 1, who gallantly agreed to face off next Saturday!
I hope you all enjoy Season 2. Stay tuned for registration information about Season 2.

Stryker vs Yosh should be sick.

could you please consider another streaming option then ustream? it can lag quite a bit, unlike livestream.com that's the currently most used site for streaming starcraft

Our casters have found that the quality's better on ustream, but I'll check with them. Thanks for the advice.

oo sounds fun...i predict stryker gets rocked =) gogo yosh and nesh!

Jaewoodong FOR ACE!!!
By the way, just some pre-season scouting: who're currently the strongest teams and what're their lineups? I can see Cal, USC and Rutgers being particularly strong this year.

@Suny - I didn't know whether this really counted as a tourney since this is a showmatch / closed to public participation.

With the format that we have, if you have one really awesome player, you can usually win 2 out of 3 required sets and scramble together a win for the last one. Cal has Yosh, USC has Day[9], Rutgers has Nesh, McGill has Freaky...so on. It's always interesting to see which "underdog" schools can get into the top 8 without any big names - UTexas, GATech, Emory, and Caltech all got into finals using strong team play.
I can see the same teams dominating this year, but players might be graduating (I know Stryker is one of them, so MIT's probably going to be noticeably weaker) and then the tables will turn.
I'm just waiting for the day when I can go to the admissions office and beg them to let someone in off of SC credentials.

PM me your email, and I'll send you the ROSTER PACK. It's ginormous and Excel, and tells you little to no information depending on how thorough some coordinators are.

any news on maps & if 2v2 is still in?

clazz is getting banned from hacking... I hear from admins... is DAT true??

We'll be releasing a news post after this. Maps are:
Ride of Valkyries, Sin Peaks of Baekdu, Athena II, Neo Medusa 2.1, Outsider, God's Garden, and Shades of Twilight 1.2
And 2v2 is out - 4 1v1's + ACE now.

All games are going to be at 7 PM EST this season. We are looking to make regional divisions next season, but for this season every game will be at 7 EST/ 6 CEN / 4 PST

I think people who have graduated and aren't taking classes shouldn't be allowed to participate. For example, Day would be ok since he's taking grad courses at USC, but nesh shouldn't since he already graduated and isn't taking courses at a school for credit.
Anyone else agree with me? Only current students. Alumni shouldn't be allowed.

I agree as well, although it's a bit more difficult to implement other than by self-reporting. Right now we're checking for school emails, but I think that even includes professors -_-
A lot of our rules can only stand by the honor code, either way, since we don't have anything like traveling judges to go on-site and make sure people are actually who they say they are. Hopefully people will stick by the rules.

We all agree that alumni shouldn't be allowed, and the rules don't allow them to play. The only alumni that would be playing are those who are being dishonest about who they are/when they graduated. The problem arises when alumni play under a different name, or they lie about their info or something. Since most of the league is operated online, we can't check for IDs or anything. The only way to do that would be if there were CSL reps physically at every game...
Also, this is only the All-Star Match with Season 1's best players. It's not an actual part of Season 2, so if Nesh graduated and stopped taking classes at Rutgers (or wherever), he won't be in Season 2.
uglymoose89, you should totally get some friends and join =P. If you don't take a few games and do get owned, then you can at least have fun and meet some other college SCers ^_^.

I still do not like the whole idea of allowing a strong player play 2 games in the csl match. does not really represent the strength of the school, rather just the one player.

Yosh is just playing in the all-star match... I'm not sure whether he graduated or not (looking at his interview it looks like he did) but if he did he won't participate in the upcoming season.

Hi, this is Nesh. I recently graduated but my actual graduation date is October 2009. I had some classes I needed to finish up which caused this delay. My original graduation date was May 2009. Anyways, I will follow any rules that the tournament organizers decide to implement. If they say I can't play in season two, then I wont.

I graduated from college (was same school and same class as StRyKeR) a year early - right before CSL season 1 started =(
I'm at best C- though so I don't know how much I would have played anyway. I haven't really followed this so far - how good are most players?

Actually most players are D/D+, then you have around 5-7 C's, 4 B's, and a couple A's.

So does graduating from university mean no more CSL for that player?
And if so, how hard is it to fake still being in school? ^^
|
On September 01 2009 09:33 Tsagacity wrote:So does graduating from university mean no more CSL for that player? And if so, how hard is it to fake still being in school? ^^
As far as our rules are - yes. After graduation a player is no longer allowed to participate in the CSL. (You wouldnt let a college cross country runner to run for a high school xc team. would you?)
And in terms of faking - thats where school coordinators come in. Since it is they who are responsible , in a way, of their teams behavior. I am sure that no school's team will want to get suspended, by risking to let a non-qualified player to play for their team.
I am certain that while the actual individual implementation of such scenario is fairly simple, it is in each team's interest to adhere to the rules
|

In my opinion, there should be some sort of verification process with the school's registrar that the students are taking classes for credit :/

I am not sure what you are talking about. We require a valid university email - which a high school student, does not simply register for on the web...
I mean. Its plausible that someone could try and pull this off - but either way its against the rules. Also granted the size of most high schools vs. universities, any high school team would hard pressed to put together a decent team of people to participate. But thats inconsequential.

Player registration isn't for another couple weeks (the 12th). Coordinators for schools should be able to register starting tomorrow. So no worries about being late for now =p.
Also, there should a post with a lot of season 2 info coming out soon...

Are there any plans to invite Korean teams? I know that ping and timezones would be an issue, but it'd be great if it could be arranged... though from experience, Korean college SC'ers kinda suck (I remember in the Cotter Cup how KAIST got owned by a Chinese school...aweful). In Korea massing SC games as a teenager most likely means you've given up on studying (hence prob. the good Korean SC players won't end up in the good colleges)

Yea of course -_-;
Bro just try to fit it in, and of course no one is asking you to make it a priority over anything else. Right now we are a bit short on people, because as of now I am not aware if Nesh is going to be playing this season (by the way Neshapotamus I sent you a link to your ICCup account for the Rutgers team).
Mascot, even if you don't have the time to invest to CSL+ constantly, I'm sure you will still have time to game with us sometimes, and maybe play in a few matches (: Here is the link to the ICCup team, please also PM me with contact info (e-mail/cell#/preferred name) so that I can keep things organized. Thanks, and hopefully you will consider n_n
Rutgers ICCup/CSL+ Team
|
ya that works, although I have no idea wtf "camden" or "new brunswick" means... I'm assuming they're just different campuses of Rutgers kinda like Penn State?
|
Yea basically Rutgers is located in three different cities with multiple campuses in each. In the South there is Camden, mid-state there is New Brunswick, and a bit farther North is Newark. It might make it more difficult for everyone to meet up because as far as I know most people right now are in the New Brunswick site, but it's still within Rutgers college, and you can still play with us online and for CSL+ (:

By that logic, couldn't the University of California system have a combined team then?
:/
|
technically UC is a "university system" and Rutgers is simply a university with different campuses. you could definitely make an argument for drawing a line on either side.

Auburn team isn't going to be pulling from the auburn montgomery campus for sure.
|
ya i think it's kind of like cal poly slo and cal poly pomona?
|
Rutgers campuses are more than 15 miles away from each other.
|
humm. I think it comes down to how they identify themselves. The UC schools are clearly independent of each other are they not? I mean, they aren't like one university with several schools/campuses - they are several universities. Does Rutger compete in intercollegiate sports as 3 separate campuses, or as one university? I think that would be the line.
Also, look at it this way: combining the UC schools would result in a team of 30, 40+? But combining the Rutgers campuses results in... 10, maybe? Less, apparently, since fan doesn't seem to be able to find teammates, lol. Especially for this season, CSL+ is trying to encourage the maximum amount of people to play without making the league imbalanced or unfair in any way.
Lots of schools have different campuses/schools... you don't see those schools splitting up their teams.
|
Each UC school is basically independent. UCLA and UCI are usually viewed as two separate entities under the whole UC network thing, I don't even know what it is =P Also, all the universities are spread out miles from each other. At least a good hour to get from one to the other, at least that's the shortest distance I know of.
