Woongjing Stars All-kill - Kim Seung Hyun (Guemchi)
Q: You All-killed a team you are usually weak against, CJ Entus.
A With today’s all-kill, I managed to get my win rate for this season over 50%. I did my best, because I wanted the team to improve its record against CJ who we’ve always done poorly against. Also, the new recruits at Woongjin (the sponsoring company itself, not the pro-team) came to cheer for us today, so I thought it would be great if I could pull off the all-kill.\
Q: So you wanted that All-kill badly?
A: Like I’ve said before, I’m always hungry for an all-kill. I did fine during practice with players from other teams, so I didn’t think I lacked the ability to do it.
Q: So, the first all-kill of the season goes to you.
A: Sure it’s the first, but that doesn’t not important. Just the fact that it’s an all-kill makes me so happy I feel like I’m flying.
Q: The minimum race requirement rule had limited your previous appearances.
A: I had five opportunities to play during the first two rounds, and I ended up blowing them all. I sucked, so inevitably I was going to get fewer chances to play. I’d always been worse than Free, so I couldn’t get the chance to play. If I keep playing well, I’m sure the opportunities will come.
Q: Did any your teammates say something memorable when they congratulated you?
A: Piano said “I’m so proud of you,” which made me feel all warm inside. I was really touched.
Q: The game with Effort seemed to be the key to achieving the all-kill.
A: I thought that Effort would be deployed in the latter stages. So I barely practiced for PvZ on Neo Moon Glaive. However, I found some good build orders while practicing for the other maps, so I applied them to Moon Glaive. When Effort built his third hatchery near 5:00 (it was the natural at another main), I figured I could win if I harassed it intensely.
Q: Which race matchup are you the most confident in?
A: Personally I think they’re all the same. I have a similar level of confidence in all three matchups, and about the same level of skill.
Q: What went through your mind just before the fifth set where you might achieve an all-kill?
A: My teammates told me the pressure was off because we still had a lot of players left. It helped me relax going into the game.
Q: How many wins to you want to get in the Winners League.
A: I don’t have any specific goals. All-kills of course, and I’d like to get at least two wins whenever I make an appearance.
Q: The new Woongjin employees who came to cheer for you guys today were very impressive.
A: The coaching staff told us yesterday that they would be coming. I didn’t think much of it then, but when I actually saw them, the Woongjin family filling the arena was beyond what I had imagined. When they were chanting “Kim Seung Hyun (his name)”, I felt had become one of ‘TaekBaengLeeSsang’ (Bisu-Stork-Flash-Jaedong). I think the support helped me play well, so I’m really grateful.
Q: Anything you would like to say?
A: When I kept losing, I didn’t want to call my parents that often because I thought they might worry about me. I think I’ll call them more frequently now. Thank you and I love you! I’m thankful to my fans who kept cheering for me even when I kept losing, and thank you to my teammates who believed in me. The new Woongjin employees came to cheer for us today, and I hope that they keep coming to cheer for us and sign up for our fan site!
