If SKT wins, I will write a short fiction (we'll say 2000 words+) about it, and how awesome SKT is. That's an interesting idea - sure, I'll go for this, same terms for me except about CJ. Deal, Zona. Expect a slavishly produced short story from Zona about the awesomeness of CJ Entus.

The CJ Entus pro-gaming team, known locally as the ‘The Greatest Source of Light and Peace and Justice in the World’, has once again made the playoff round of the Shinhan Bank Proleague. But this isn’t like last year. Or that other year. Or even that other year you remember. Because this year, it’s our year. Because this year, CJ is going all the way.
Five scientifically tested, strenuously fact-checked reasons why:
***
One: The Ace.
Pew Pew!
This year’s format isn’t the super-ace format that thrilled hearts, and killed the dreams of pretty much everyone. But that doesn’t mean that the series can’t go down to one game. When that time comes, you’d better know who you’ve got going for you. In other words, you’d best have an ace.
And CJ’s ace has a plane.
It’s no secret that the 2009-2010 season has been an up and down one for EffOrt. But for all of his mid-season struggles, the alien has re-emerged, and is better and stronger than ever before. The pristine management and sublime multi-task are still there. But the new EffOrt has the mind-games, a the micro and just such an overall badass quotient that he can do pretty much whatever the hell he wants to do, and still win.
Furthermore, (and let’s not forget), that the old EffOrt tore through opponents like a loosed Bengal tiger on a tourist in last year’s playoffs, until he met his match in Jaedong. So not only does EffOrt have a history of laying waste this time of year, but he’s also got something to prove. This kid ain’t losing. + Show Spoiler +
***
Two: The Sage.
The look of hopes and dreams triumphant. Expect this look to make a reprise.
CJ has the best coach in starcraft. Plain and simple. In terms of filling out the line-up card, in terms of tactics, in terms of getting the best out of his players, and in terms of caring for his players, Coach Cho is the best.
What this means is plain; CJ won’t get out-coached. When CJ comes into the studio for their match, you can bet that they’ll be focused, prepared, and determined to win. And furthermore, they’re likely to have a beneficial match-up due to the line-up genius of Coach Cho. And crucially, he can put his ego aside to win:
▲... but because it was such an important match, EffOrt would definitely be affected negatively if I started raging.
In otherwords, Coach Cho, a total genius, could go out there and win all the matches himself, but he’s also a saint, and so he prefers to give the chance to other people.
***
Three: The Depth.
What lurks below the water... will eat you.
Every year, the debate over the deepest team in proleague beings again. Once again, CJ is the first name mentioned, and deservedly so, given its history. But I submit that this year the gulf is even greater than before.
It’s the stuff of CJ folklore that players get their CJ faces in threes. And this year, when we saw the fall of one CJ generation, we witnessed the growth of another, and the rise of a third. When filling out the line-ups, CJ has an embarrassment of capable players. CJ is tied with SKT1 for the most starleague finalists of any play-off bound team. Movie and sKyHigh are solid proleague veterans by now, and have delivered many times in key moments for CJ in the past. Meanwhile, Snow and Hydra have both shown their potential to have manifested itself into actual skill in a series of impressive proleague appearances. And hey, there’s even BByong who displayed just enough testosterone to fend off Reach in CJ’s last match, with a cool calm and collected defense against dts.
Many of CJ’s players have often unfairly been labeled as ‘snipers’. But those who propagate this lazy description aren’t telling the whole story. Absurd strength in one match-up is hardly a weakness, and in fact all of CJ’s players have shown the ability to win decisively in their “weak match-ups”. And when they play their best match-ups, they’re unbeatable. In the playoffs, we’re bound to see some sick Movie PvZ (best sair/reaver in BW), some excellent sKyHigh TvT, and some abuse-tastic PvT from Snow. But we’re just as likely to see those players take home a match in their other match-ups. In sum, CJ might be a team of godly snipers who know their match-ups like the back of their hands, but they can hold their own in hand-to-hand combat too. + Show Spoiler +
***
Four: The General
I taught these guys everything they know.
Iris is an unlikely leader. Just one of three esteemed veterans on CJ last year, Iris is now the only member of his generation of Entusmen left. And in his older, more wise years, he’s become CJ’s rock. His legendary consistency in games has translated into a measured attitude, and a keen sense of his own abilities and how they work for his team. In his most recent winner’s interview, Iris said;
- Now you have to begin preparing for the playoffs, and your role will be very important to the team. ▲ Because of my experience, my most important role will be to commit myself to easing nervousness within the team.
I’m excited to see Iris play in the playoffs, and have confidence that he can deliver. His recent form has been pretty solid, and while he’s been good in all match-ups as usual, his TvT has looked extremely potent. But moreso than his games, look for Iris to be a positive influence on the play of sKyHigh, Bbyong, and anyone else facing a terran player. In the OSL, for example, Iris was instrumental:
EffOrt: ▲ Iris, who has previous final stage experiences, helped me so well so much. He told me not to be burdened by anything. Thanks to him, I was able to set my mind correctly.
With Iris leading by example, CJ is in great hands. + Show Spoiler +
***
Five: The Demons
Good riddance.
When the match--fixing scandal hit, everyone was affected. While CJ didn’t essentially lose their entire team, (Unlike poor Hite) they lost the spiritual heart of it, Ma Jae Yoon, the Dark Prince of Broodwar. But with the cancer purged from its system, CJ is resurgent. They rallied in the later part of the season to solidify their playoff spot, and they rallied behind EffOrt as he made his thrilling run to the OSL championship.
Whatever bad karma hindered us last time is gone, and CJ is unburdened to seek the championship. The curse of sAviOr has been thrown off for good.

Bonus Reason: The Camp Followers
(-_(-_(-_(-_(-_(-_(-_-)_-)_-)_-)_-)_-)_-)
So yesterday, to prepare myself for the playoffs, I went back and read the Live-Report for the second day of CJ v. Samsung Khan in last year’s playoffs. Needless to say, it was a fun afternoon. Reliving the epic comeback from EffOrt, Iris and Movie, and then the alien’s utter domination of Khan in two ace matches made me remember what it is to be a CJ fan. Being a CJ fan isn’t about tearing anyone down, or arguing bonjwas and slumps. Being a CJ fan is about being positive, about being supportive, and about always believing, no matter the situation. Against Oz in winners league, against Hite and Khan in the proleague playoffs, against Flash in the OSL, the faith of CJ fans has been rewarded. When CJ is playing, I expect the unexpected. I believe that CJ will give it everything they have, and I believe CJ will deliver in the end, and that wrong will be eclipsed by right. Being a CJ fan is not only hoping, but believing that CJ will win in the end. To that end, we cheer for out players throughout, and we never say never. With that kind of attitude, I believe we’re going all the way. Entusmen fighting!
Some Reading: A Team Named GO and a Coach Named Cho… Ready To Rumble Conquered Swarm Season The End… Or the Beginning?
Quoth Hot_Bid: Alas, it was not to be. But that does not mean this season was a failure. CJ Entus won two playoff matches, but more importantly, successfully transitioned to their next generation. Effort, Skyhigh, and Movie will all be here next season, with one more year of experience under their belts. Great run CJ. Keep fighting, and Watch the finals with hunger. Because next year, we're going all the way.

Phenomenal write-up! CJ going all the way this year! I'm actually really happy that MBC dropped to 4th. since taking out SKT1 in the first playoff round will be giving the team a huge confidence boost going into the rest of playoffs considering that SK's lineup is starting to get scary again.

You have a damn T1 banner. And no, I don't believe CJ will even make it out of the first round. Why? They're facing SKT, with a almost 100% Bisu who beat Jaedong two weeks ago.

Ah. (: It's good to see these coming back again XD They're so entertaining.
|
CJ vs KT seems like a good finals, no? :D
|
I think CJ is the biggest threat to SKT
They can get:
SkyHigh>Fantasy Snow>Bisu (current pvp) Hydra>Best Effort> hyuk, s2, etc.
But it can also go this way:
s2>skyhigh Bisu> effort(maybe)/hydra/iris Best>Iris/Snow/Skyhigh
|
|
Whoever wins out of CJ and SKT1 better crush Wemade/MBC's winner and then STX. It won't be a good finals otherwise.

CJ has a bit to prove to me before i can accept them again after mr. Ma, ik its not the entire teams mistake but i just cant stop thinking about it when i think of them hopefully they can prove me wrong so my conscience can rest easily with supporting CJ but atm with the return of bisu (minus PvP) im hoping for SKT to take it all again
also, imo whoever wins between skt and cj will win the whole thing

To be honest, I think CJ overachieves to get this far. It's really all to Coach's Cho's credit that they do well. CJ's pretty much the swiss army knife of pro-game teams, with a bunch of good specialists but not one amazing player. Coach Cho always seems to get the matchups he wants though, or at least enough of the time to rack up a good win rate. Seriously, a player like Skyhigh would find himself so poorly utilized on a team like OZ or MBCGame. On the other hand, an asset like Shine would become twice as useful in Coach Cho's hands.
I think Coach Cho will get CJ the matchups they need, and take their games 4-2, 4-3

I'm pretty confident that they won't beat SKT1, and the only team against whom they are favored would be MBC, who will probably lose their match. But hey, almost anything can happen I guess. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=129365 CJ is a pretty good team, but they really don't have what it takes to go so far. They have to snipe successfully. Megalisk was obviously.. not quite 100% serious, so I dont see any blind fanboyism. Posts like yours really annoy me though. Always this negativity against other Teamliquidians and other teams. Why cant you just root FOR your team instead of always rooting against others.

lol Hopefully. Although I hope STX or WeMade win the Proleauge Grand Final, I think Cho's boys have a better chance.
I think CJ has more active supporters on TL than any other team (including SKT1 )

For those people that said there is 100% of Bisu losing to Effort, you're indirectly saying that Jaedong, too, will lose 100% of the time to Effort. Bisu may not be completely back at his full strength yet, but it is pretty safe to say that he's atleast 90% back. Plus, he raped all the zergs he faced recently, so I was say Bisu is actually favored to win against Effort. And for those of you saying he can't PvP, he lost up front to Pusan because of army position, but even so, Pusan had a huge BO advantage because he contained Bisu a bit on this ramp. The other games, theres no way Bisu can overcome the BO advantage, such as 1 gate dt vs 3 gate goons...

Wat. While I agree that Effort is not 100% to win against Bisu, even if he was it wouldn't mean Jaedong would lose to Effort 100% of the time--they're different matchups.
Anyways, I'm really excited for CJ vs SKT and I think they could potentially be some of the most exciting games of the playoffs. I especially want to see Fantasy vs Snow and Bisu vs Effort! I disagree that CJ is the deepest team in the Proleague, though. To me, Wemade is the deepest team by far.
|
CJ vs SKT is the finals. from there on, the winner of that will be crowned 09-10 PL champs CJ i believe! even with Bisu's epic comeback, he doesnt have a chance against EffOrt. Only Terrans can kill EffOrt

Having a team of one-matchup players is not depth. CJ just makes it look like it is because Coach Cho is the most badass coach in all of Starcraft.
I would say Effort v Fantasy is map dependent. Fantasy will fall apart if he's forced to play bio, but Effort plays relatively poorly against mech, so on a map where Fantasy can mech comfortably, it could work out in SKT's favor.

Still makes it a tie with SKT though (unless you count boxer/oov). But since this is about the match vs SKT you're kinda right ^^... also boxer is still a player so I guess he should count
Maybe he ignored that we don't have savior (or kwanro ^^) anymore

Haha I love these threads (they were so awesome last season)
CJ has been in decent form lately- they were playing like trash a couple weeks ago (when they lost to SKT) but it seems to me - as someone who isn't a huge fan of either team - that CJ has the depth to potentially beat SKT.

haha funny that you say that, I havent followed NHL in about...not sure, but probably over 10 years, back then I was a detroit red wings fan :D Even bought a Jersey/tricot (which word do you use?) Keep in mind this was a time without internet meaning there was no way to watch the actual games, all I did was check the results on the TV videotext.
Later I also became a Colorado Avalanche (?) though... I think because I thought the tricots were pretty ^^

Boxer is going to go out and nuke effort. GO EMPEROR

I don't want CJ to win against T1 but they are my choice to win proleague as well. They are the only team that have true weapons to take on Flash multiple times. Effort showed he can rape Flash if he tries to play his predictable macro setup. Effort already has the confidence to beat Flash on a large stage and seems to know the ins and outs of his recent TvZ. Snow has the strength if coach Cho gives him the right early game setup (ex: game on FS). Lastly is the TvT ace skyhigh who also showed he can beat Flash in a standard long macro game. He has led his team to victory in the winners league final last year so he is somewhat familiar with pressure situations. Flash has not been on point in TvT and CJ will obviously be looking to set this match up.

SKT is not as deep as their playoff performance shows. They won't do as well as SKT fangirls are expecting. Bisu -- You're overstating how snipe-able Bisu is in TvP, when his recent PvT shows otherwise. As for PvP, Movie's PvP record recently has been pretty lackluster as well. Snow would beat Bisu in PvP for sure, but why waste him there when he can snipe Fantasy?
Fantasy -- As I said in a previous post, Effort has shown some pretty bad decision-making against mech. Look at Effort vs Fantasy and Effort vs Flash. Not games I would expect from someone of his caliber. If Fantasy gets put against him on a map that's good for mech, this can reasonably work out in Fantasy's favor. He will lose to Snow, but probably not to Movie.
SKT Zergs -- They'll lose to Effort in ZvZ, but Effort can't play Bisu, Fantasy, and Hyuk all in the same match. At the same time, they're full capable of peeling wins off Skyhigh, Snow, Hydra, and Iris. How these factor into the matchups has largely to do with their placement in the lineup--and Coach Park has shown himself to be extremely good at deciding lineups.
I think more attention needs to be given to the coaches. Coach Park and Coach Cho have definitely shown themselves to be some of the best in the business, and if anything, this is a match between their abilities, and not just the players. It's no coincidence that both teams have lineups that would not have come this far were it not for their coaches' abilities.

hahah Paul!
CJ HWAITINGG!!!!
great write-up!!

Coach Cho is the bonjwa of getting the right match ups, so I'm very confident in CJ.
CJ FIGHTING!

CJ definitely hast the best team for the format. No contest. Also this time, Jaedong can't ace match them to death....soooo yeah. Expecting good things from them

Bisu lost to SeCret. Yeah that SeCret. There's a good chance he'll lose to third tier tosses from CJ. Any Toss from CJ is > 50% chance of win for CJ against Bisu.

I would not include Hydra in the calculations. He lost to Best. Seriously...Best...PvZ. His fluky individual league performances will end int he RO16...
Edit: lol @ people saying Bisu will get sniped easily. No he won't, he's really stepped up his performance. He's not 100% full strength yet but he's approaching that. 100% strength Bisu can take out Flash and Jaedong without difficulty, let alone...Effort. O_O

nice write up and since paul is predicting it, its a done deal.

Great article. However, something is nagging me and I have to get it off my chest: under point five, you have the word effected. It should be affected. Thanks. -_-

I think it's a mistake to say that CJ has much more depth than SKT. In fact thats just plain dumb.

Son, I am disappoint.
Anyway, CJ will take this easily, its kinda sad really, all the games will be one sided in CJ's favor as they yawn-rape their way to the finals.

SKT vs CJ, that is the true final to me. Whoever wins, the rest will just be a formality.

After reading this thread, I will reaffirm my support for 'anyone not named CJ or SKT'. Fans from both teams really know how to nurture anti-fans, that's for sure.
+ Show Spoiler +Still a huge fan of Iris and Movie, though.

CJ hasn't been a team with depth for seasons+ now. They don't even have a decent #2 or #3... CJ's post... is toast! T1 will dominate or lose to KT. Maybe Wemade brings the fiya... i dunno... that'd be pretty crazy and cool... but CJ and MBC are the weakest looking teams going into post season imo.

How is effort auto-win against any of the skt zergs? miracle scourge boy legitly beat both calm and jaedong recently, and his game against effort in the msl was hardly one-sided.
And hyuk may be on a 4 loss streak in proleague right now, but he's known as a zvz sniper for a reason. I wouldn't say he's favoured against effort, but to say the guy who beat jaedong in last year's final on the highest stage has zero chance is ridiculous.
Soo is terrible, yeah. He could probably cheesy all-in one of the tosses, though.
(Nevermind, my SKT banner probably invalidates all my arguments.)

Honestly, I think it's more likely that SKT will field Canata instead of Soo. After all, they game him the MVP and he actually won a game so he might be able to help a bit more than Soo, who has been failing his latest games.

If I recall correctly, Bisu started playing again vs much. He was still not confident then. Pusan had a BO advantage against Bisu as he contained Bisu for a bit. But, Bisu played like crap that game. The game against Tempest was a pure BO loss--> 3 gate goons vs 1 gate DT expand. Bisu's ability to overcome BO before was godly, but you can't overcome DTs with dragoons without observers or cannons. Plus, those two games, Bisu was not confident at all. As I recall, during the MSl group selection, he was scared of a strong group and cared about who he played. But after beating Jaedongin proleague and Calm in the MSL to advance to RO16, he said in his interview that he's got no preference of who to play anymore. That shows that he's in much better shape now than he is when he first finished his "special training", meaning his PvP record is going to improve. Afterall, only a confident Bisu is strong, and he's really confident right now.

That record is NOT a good indication of Bisu's current PvP form. The losses prior to Bisu v.s. Pusan occurred during the period of Bisu's slump.
And Bisu v.s. Tempest serves as a horrible example. Tempest had the biggest BO advantage possible over Bisu. Not to mention that it was likely that Bisu was sent on the fourth set to fight against Flash, not Tempest.
Although Bisu's loss to Pusan is inexcusable as Pusan simply outplayed Bisu at that time, let us keep in mind that Pusan was on a four PL game streak against Free, Movie, Really and Bisu. So Pusan is not horrible. In addition, Best showed an absolutely beautiful PvP game this week against Kal and Best claimed he is 50/50 against Bisu in practice.

+ Show Spoiler +This is my stomping of the vastly uneducated opinions of others in the following threads: Blind CJ Fanboyism Blind STX FanboyismJust kidding. I just thought this format was rather cool, and decided to make one before anyone else (hopefully?) about the King of Kings, the Emperor's Palace, SK Telecom T1. Rape Imminent That's right, S-K-mother-fucking-T-One. Ever seen a great game played by Rainbow? Canata? Midas? Best? Fantasy? Bisu? Oov? Boxer? Oh, you have? Well then SKT1 is in your head, subliminally telling you the truth everyone should know by now: SKT1 is the best team in the history of StarCraft. And this is why they will win this year's Proleague. [1] GluttonyHello welcome to our trophy cabinet, we have gold-plated casts of anuses belonging to inferior teams. I meant medals. Everyone is talking about hungry this, want to win that, yadda yadda eye of the tiger bullshit. This is not a Disney movie, this is not Mighty Ducks 5 or Rocky 6. This is real fucking life. Where I come from there is a very appropriate expression about real life: "Fortune shines upon those best prepared." Tell me, how much preparation goes into a Proleague play-off match, a set, a season? How much preparation will the current #1 team go through for the final match? How much did they have to go through to post such dominant results that they had the exclusive luxury of throwing their fans a bone from the throne by fielding aging and amateur players against their long-time rivals, KT(F)? Answer: A fucking lot. Now realize that previous to this finals, they have the most proleague gold medals and the most individual league medals. These people clearly know how to prepare and clutch a finals win. These people are GOOD at what they do, which is WINNING. Like I said, this is real life competition, even if it is battled in a virtual world. The strong succeed, the weak fail and falter and get shat on. And SKT1 has been downing Big Macs and laxatives so that as soon as whichever pathetic excuse for a team steps up to the challenge of facing SKT1 in the finals, they can unleash a shitstorm of rape and horror. That is assuming the opposing team doesn't realize their obvious pipedream and forfeits. Note how it doesn't matter which team is in question here. NEWS FLASH! In a conventional hierarchy, they would be the jester (Sparkyz), dunce (Soul), fat and injured guard (Khan) and hopeless pretenderspaupers (CJ) in the Court of King SKT1. Suckas gonna get their asses beat. [2] Roster of Champions"I drop bombs like Hiroshima, bitch suck on my wiener." I touched upon this earlier, but it needs to be made more evident how retarded strong SKT1's line-up is. Here we go: *1.*---BISU---Multitask. Harass. Micro. Macro. Cockiness. Balls. Handsomeness. Sex. Sex. Sex. Yea. Everyone knows there are 3 Kings in the pro scene right now. Those 3 Kings are none other than Flash, Jaedong, and Bisu. I'm not going to go into why Bisu is better than both of them. Well okay, I will: + Show Spoiler +That last statement aside, Bisu's record tends to go unnoticed when it comes to comparison between the three of them. He only sports a measly 64.26%, compared to Jaedong's 68.64% and Flash's 67.02%. What people don't seem to remember is the fact that Bisu won 2 MSLs before Jaedong had his OSL win and before Flash had pubic hair. What people don't seem to remember is that he was just a guy doing his noobie attempt at a dark horse run, up until the moment when he came all over that Thai hooker's face and realized "Wait, I'm fucking Bisu." That's when the last bonjwa of BW fell. And he fell at Bisu's knees. Although he has been eliminated from the OSL by some spectacular Queen play, sealing his status as officially cursed by the OSL Gods, he is still an indisputably impenetrable force. #1 ELO Peak anyone? 1 win short of being in a three-way tie for most wins this season, he has a much better winning percentage, and was only denied that title because SKT1 decided to send the kids and the Emperor out to play against KT. Bisu has been the BEST player in this Proleague, hands down. What will he have to bring to the table in the finals? 1 Win, 2 if SKT1 decides to play a prank by making it seem like they can lose by dropping a few games for it to come down to ace match, so that Bisu can laugh in the face of whatever pathetic opponent stands before him as he attacks him on 5 fronts. Let's see what his chances are by MU: PvP: No contest. PvZ: Jaedong, otherwise no contest (Queens included). PvT: No contest, except Flash or Fantasy, both of which he will not be facing. 1-0 SKT1-ChoboTeam. *2.*---FANTASY---Che Guevara reincarnated and trained to own bitches in StarCraft. Fantasy is the next hot thing. His TvP is the best. His TvZ was revolutionary. His TvT is... not as good as Flash's but definitely top-tier. Fantasy, fresh off of 2 OSL silvers, this kid has been a consistently dominating force everywhere in the pro scene. This kid, like Bisu and Boxer in his prime, is not just results - it's about the flair. Have you seen his game vs. Stork? His games vs. Bisu? His games vs. Jaedong? This kid is a fucking monster when it comes to dropship harass and multitask. In the game vs. Stork, the epic match of dropships between a PvT specialist (even if he is slumping, tell me that game was not high-calibre) and a TvP annihilation machine, he displayed his stellar control, and had the macro to back it up. I don't see any Protoss except Bisu, maaaybe Jangbi (if he stops slumping), taking him down. And you know he will probably be playing TvP in the finals. Yea, chalk that one up for SKT1. 2-0. *3.*---BEST---I should just put a picture of a tank steamrolling over the galaxy or some shit. EDIT: OH.. OH GOD.. OOOH SHIIIIIIII-
Best... Oooh Best... OSL silver medalist to JulyZerg, a ZvP guru, Best is a mixed bag of ridiculously strong skills and a few glaring deficiencies. His PvZ... Let's not go there. Oh wait, it doesn't matter anyway, since no one is stupid enough to send him out for PvZ. His PvP is what the fuck is there even need to talk about his PvP? Yea. His PvT is also stellar, which is why I made that steamrolling comment there. You think the game is going normally and Best might even be behind at points because he generally doesn't do flashy micro like Stork has at times and Bisu does almost daily, then the camera flashes up to the rally point outside his natural and all you hear is surprised Korean "OOOH"s going off from crowd and commentators alike because the screen is just a block of zealots and goons. It's like this kid was locked in the SKT1 basement for a few months, with his face chained to a TV playing Reach vs. Oov on Mercury over, and over, and over again. Best then proceeds to stream, no, tsunami the units into the Terran base, often directly and without arbiter assistance. Yea, it's like that. So once again, who can beat him? PvP: Stork and Jangbi. Oh wait, they are probably alcoholics and going through anti-depressants like kids through PEZ dispensers. Kal? Maybe. Maybe on that day your predictions will stop sucking, too. Not likely though. PvZ: Anyone including your D- friend who compstomps. Too bad he won't be playing that. PvT: Can you think of a Terran in the remaining teams that can reasonably take him down? You can make a case for SkyHigh, and it would be a good one if the PL finals happened a few months ago. 3-0. The other wins should be easy to gather after that, even with a relatively stale remainder of the team. Not saying that they are bad - just not as good as these 3. Except TheZerg. TheZerg sucks. [3] RevolutionismI know you didn't expect to see this here. SKT1 has Boxer (the first true progamer in existence), Oov, Fantasy, Bisu, Midas to a lesser degree... What do all of these have in common? Revolutionism. I know it's not a word. It is now. Because this article is about SKT1. And SKT1 has Revolutionism in full flare. The ability to change the face of the game to extent that these 5 players have is unrivaled, individually (IMcompletelyfactualO) and especially in unison. What does this represent? Intelligence. I don't think I need to go into why intelligence is a winning aspect of this game, do I? Just consider the fact that this factors into EVERYTHING - the tailoring of the games, the whole set, the pre-existing abilities and concepts, the depth of their game knowledge, the depth of their ability to prepare counter-strategies before and on the day of the match... [4] History-- Silence as all of you share a moment of reverence, fear and respect for the Emperor -- This kind of ties together all of my previous points - it's the essence of the team, the connotation of the mere name of SKT1 in the pro scene, the "culture" and the ki and the chakra and the whatever the fuck. It's just what they're made of. They are like the ominous presence in the deep darkness. They are the people who radiate confidence when they enter a room, putting everyone's ego and resolve in the drain. With the Emperor and the Bonjwa Oov undoubtedly at the helm of the SKT1 flagship as master and apprentice, coach and player, the power of the team is undeniable in both pride and support. What I mean by pride is not the hubris which would come naturally to being on this team, I mean the necessity to maintain an image and to perform. You are willing to surrender more for a legacy than you would be if you knew that a loss would be "just another loss." SKT1 does not have those. SKT1 wins. And SKT1 will win this PL finals. --- P.S.: I don't mean to offend anyone; it's late, I'm high, and I wanted to spice things up a bit. I'm just fanboyin', yo.

While some may think Coach Cho is some master strategist, I don't think he'll necessarily be able to gain that kind of advantage against SKT. Looking back at this season, SKT is 4-1 (15-6 by individual sets) vs CJ, and a look at the lineups in the games involved show that CJ was actually getting unfavorable matchups most of the time.
+ Show Spoiler +Plus this is going to be the shortest-lived Team Hype thread as CJ's gonna get knocked out this weekend.

CJ was stronger last season. I don't expect much from them. It is obviously possible for them to win against SKT bu I think it is rather unlikely. Especially that Bisu is back

I remember last year's game vs Khan, It was so good, also the game against hite, Movie vs Leta on Colosseum is one of the best games I have ever watched.

pffft. SKT WILL CRUSH CJ.

Well then, let's look at the string of PvP victories he's had since finally breaking out of his age-long slump! Including OSL prelims... well, Tyson is sometimes played instead of Jaehoon, I guess. And Jaehoon is sometimes MBC's ace!
And Bisu v.s. Tempest serves as a horrible example. Tempest had the biggest BO advantage possible over Bisu. Not to mention that it was likely that Bisu was sent on the fourth set to fight against Flash, not Tempest.
It's a good thing things like luck in mirror matchups aren't part of the matchups themselves and have no effect on players' winrates that in turn do not determine whether someone is slumping or not!
In addition, Best showed an absolutely beautiful PvP game this week against Kal and Best claimed he is 50/50 against Bisu in practice.
It's too bad maGma went to the army and retired or else he'd probably be bonjwa right now...
+ Show Spoiler +I am not actually arguing that Bisu would be unfavoured versus CJ's tosses, just stirring up some trashtalk Seriously though his PvP is not the most stable thing in the world right now. The only reason he's favoured is because Snow and Movie are even more inconsistent :|
|
with a little bit of luck, i think cj will do quite well. and by luck, i mean skyhigh not getting a tvz or tvp, snow not getting a pvz or pvp, movie not getting sent out on anything except fortress
nah all jokes, i think they have some quality players and underrated players that can pick up some slack

this is my favorite line:
But with the cancer purged from its system, CJ is resurgent.

I kind of want to make one of these for KT but I have no idea how to scrounge up the pictures. Here's hoping someone does something as similarly hyping for the other teams.

that octopus ! aha ~ anyways ..
im not sure about CJ chances imo. it was a nice writeup but lets look at this.
Iris is very on and off as a player. as a motivating presence i guess he could be important Effort is far and away CJ's best player. Will he bring his A-game? depends on how bad he wants it Skyhigh/Movie are both slumping imo. Neither are playing to their potential which is huge, Snow is the ace card imo. All teams are expecting effort to play his best and will send their big guns against him. But snow.. dear snow. this kid is amazing
look foward to him making a big splash. but besides that.. im not sure SKT has more "depth" imo SKT has more "in form" players (bisu coming back, canata and best winning games) and SKT has been there before. no doubt they want it again

I have to root for CJ this season. I mean, nobody else can hold a candle to their depth. KTFlash is falling apart and STX has apparently all been learning to play with the toes or something. So it's gotta be CJ.

SK Telecom T1 winning against CJ Entus would be counter-productive to the development of E-Sports.

EffOrt is pretty much a guaranteed Win for CJ, unless Bisu's PvZ returns in full form. Although their record is currently 3-0, those matches were at a point in time where Bisu was playing extremely well and EffOrt was still a Rookie. Bisu's still recovering from his slump whereas EffOrt has been playing solidly (though moreso in the individual leagues than the proleague). Best, while a great player, will probably fall to EffOrt's monster ZvP.
Fantasy's TvZ is his weakest matchup, and his playstyle is what EffOrt excels the most against. While the EffOrt of 2009 struggled with mech play, his current multitasking and map domination ability will trounce mech play. If they do play each other, the game will go down like this: Fantasy will do a quirky build off of two base, possibly doing some econ damage in the process. EffOrt will curtail the damage and slowly work his way up to 4-5 base. Fantasy will try to expo but be unable to hold (depending on the map), and eventually settle for a massive 200 supply ball Push. EffOrt will either: overrun every expo of Fantasy with ling defiler or doop drop the main, and then send wave after wave of zerg to chip away and crush the terran ball of death.
Unfortunately, aside from EffOrt, the ability for other CJ players to score wins relies heavily on the coach placing them in matchups where they have the advantage. Ideal head-to-heads would probably be:
sKyHigh > Fantasy Snow = Bisu (likely to go either way) EffOrt > Best Movie > Zerg player (Hyuk/s2/n.Die_Soo) Iris > Zerg player (Hyuk/s2/n.Die_Soo)
Or, CJ could get totally boned and have to deal with
Movie < Fantasy Snow < Hyuk EffOrt < Bisu Iris < Best

IT'S THE GAMEPLAY.
Go watch Bisu v.s. Mind series and his game against Skyhigh. Bisu did not just win, BISU DOMINATED LIKE A BOSS! Say what you want about Skyhigh and Mind, they are still solid A-team. Being able to DOMINATE another A-team in today's scene is quite a feat in itself.

Agreed. KT is overrated jk jk
But CJ has to play sooo many more games that KT, and if they fight their way through SKT, and get that momentum rolling, I just don't them being stopped. In the playoffs momentum is such a huge part of the overall win. Also since CJ will have to play through SKT, Fox or MBC, and STX to get to KT, they are gonna be so fired up by comparison to KT, and that's why I think they'll win
Plus, Effort messes with Flash's head, and I think Effort can knock KT's Ace Best Player, out early. After that, it comes down how many players Effort takes out, but even if he only takes out Flash, I still think a fighting CJ will dominate KT.
|
I'm pretty sure CJ has this. They are confident enough not to dodge OSL ceremony for a few more hours of practice unlike SKT, then they get to rape the crappier side of the bracket. After that is STX which sucks now and KT. We all know what happens when CJ plays KT :D. Except this time it will be even easier because the format is way more suited for CJ's deep lineup.

Let's keep in mind that SKT has three players in the OSL, each of them the respective aces of their team's three races. SKT stand to lose the most if they go along with OGN's crappy schedule, as all three players will no doubt be fielded.
CJ, on the other hand, has only two players. Most importantly, one of them is Effort, the OSL champion. There is no possible way for them to back out without being killed by criticism. The other one is Hydra, who may or may not be fielded for all we know.
Not the mention that CJ coach sent official complaints to OGN as well.
Let's face it. NOBODY is 100% confident against SKT. This isn't some broken one man team like Hite or Oz. THIS IS MOTHER FRICKING SKT T1 !!!!!
Your point is invalid.

Well, like I said earlier whatever genius is attributed to Coach Cho in lineup selection hasn't really come into play against SKT - like I mentioned earlier, CJ is 1-4 vs SKT this proleague season, and a look at the games involved show that CJ didn't get the matchups it needed most of the time, and even when they did...things still didn't end well for them.

Why don't you SKT1 fans go make your own thread on why SKT1 will win.
Reasons why SKT1 will lose: Zerg. We all know how SKT1 zerg screwd the whole team over. saying Hyuk is good is just lying to yourself. SKT1Zerg is synonymous to sucks

Last time CJ and SKT1 played in ProLeague...
CJ got 3-0'd... with Hyuk taking a win off of Snow. None of the games were really close.
I'm hoping for CJ... but things will have to have drastically changed. To say "they got this easy" is pretty silly. If CJ can take 2 BO7 off this team, it will be a real accomplishment.

Sure, keep telling yourself Snow always loses to Hyuk, JD didn't get sniped by S2, and the three zergs all-killed several teams (ie. Khan) didn't happen at all. Sure, none of these didn't happen in R4 and R5. Because they're simply SKT1 zergs. They're worthless and are lower than any of CJ players.
But seriously, even if SKT1 zerg can't produce (which I doubt), we have Bisu, Best and Fantasy as well as Canata and BoxeR. Think they can't produce results?

SKT1 wins. SKT1Zerg is synonymous to sucks There is one: Show nested quote +On July 15 2010 10:26 Murderotica wrote:+ Show Spoiler +This is my stomping of the vastly uneducated opinions of others in the following threads: Blind CJ Fanboyism Blind STX FanboyismJust kidding.
CJ has Effort, Snow, Skyhigh, Movie, Iris and Hydra for BO7.
KT has Flash, Stats, ForGG, Violet, Tempest and Hoejja for BO7.
I don't know, man. It looks pretty even and I dare to say that Iris and Hydra > Tempest and Hoejja.
As for SKT
We have Bisu, Fantasy, Best, Hyuk, S2, Soo/Canata for BO7. That's a pretty sweet lineup too. And unlike the other two teams, we can claim that we have TWO high class players instead of one.

Snow/Skyhigh/Effort is a pretty damn good trio.
KT on the other hand has Violet, Stats, ForGG, Flash + Filler. Head on, I think CJ's 5/6 slots are better than the garbage KT can field. Hydra isn't half bad, and Iris/Movie aren't necessarily scrubs.
If we're talking depth, I think WeMade has the deepest team in the playoffs, MBC is the shallowest. Aside from Light/Sea, the rest of their lineup is rubbish. WeMade's ability to field 3-4 competent Terrans, a pretty good Protoss, and two solid zergs will serve them well if they get past MBC. Before Hwasin/Lux's departures, I would have given this to either KT or STX. But STX has been playing like lol as of late. Clam rofl.

Erh, us from KT shouldnt be too loud about our zerg lineup. Lol.
|
I think I need to defend my position a little.
I'm under the impression, that winning means more than doing well once you get to the playoffs. Everyone killed Flash when he "choked" up 2-0 to Effort in OSL. And everyone killed Jaedong when Flash beat him 3-0 in MSL. Now, Flash and Jaedong have proven in the past to be clutch players.
From my view, coaches need to be held to a high standard as well. Making the playoffs is nice, but wouldn't winning it be better? One can argue that CJ Entus had one of the deepest teams in this playoff format. A BO7 for Entus is an advantage over KT and STX.
I compare this to NBA/NFL in coaching. If the coach wins in the regular season and gets you into the playoffs but cannot get you any further, should you just be happy with that? I can guarantee that everyone in the SKT house is thinking PL championship or bust.
Why would you play BByong in the playoffs when you have Iris? Iris has been in the pressure cooker before.
And explain Snow? If they think Fantasy is being sent out, why not send out Effort? Fantasy's worst M/U is TvZ and Fantasy had lost to a zerg earlier that day (maybe confidence lower). What it shows me, is that the coach did not have confidence that his "star" player Effort could not beat Bisu/Best/Fantasy and tried to snipe the ace with a gamble on Snow.
Remember a week ago when OZ vs SKT happened? OZ sent out JD in ace match and SKT coach sent S2. Everyone went "wtf" and didn't understand it. (even though s2 pulled the upset)
So my stance on "fire the coach" is more of a playoff misstep. In my opinion, the CJ coach choked in this situation.
Edit: Added Iris part

Polaris Rhapsody isn't good for Zergs at all, sending Effort for ace would have been a huge mistake.
Cho realized he couldn't beat Bisu on a P-favored map, so he sent Snow hoping that Park would mess up and send fantasy.

But ZvP it's not too bad on that map. And I know Bisu got beat on that map by a zerg before.
This is what I think: Protoss favored map and you don't have a good PvP or TvP player, you have to send your best zerg. This would be like OZ sending out Backho instead of Jaedong to play Bisu. Or, sending Stats instead of Flash. (Although, Stats might be the better pick in this case )

tree.hugger, would you please at least change the order of the day by day results in the op? Preferably you should spoiler that picture of Day 3 too. I just wanted to read the article now (I remembered it was posted before today's games), but instead a sad dogface quite clearly spoiled me the results of today's games (well i was only planning to watch the highly recommended ace game, but still.) As it is, I didnt even have a chance to dodge it.

Because Iris played in the previous two days and wasn't any good? Because he knows more about how BByong and Iris compare than you and I do?
And about the Snow part: Fantasy got sent out the day before with a prepared build to snipe Effort. Fantasy is good at using prepared builds. Perhaps CJ's coach wanted to avoid that because Effort hasn't been that solid against terran this year

He's a very solid player, and has shown strong performances in all of his match-ups in the past. Was CJ expecting fantasy? Possibly, but I think it's more likely they were covering all their bases with a player who could take out SKT's ace (fanta) or their other choices (Bisu and BeSt). It's a P-favored map, so CJ sent out their best protoss. Not a terrible decision by any stretch. Just got outplayed, and not by much.
Makes sense. But I always believe, you play your best player no matter what.

KT only has to send 1 Zerg really. watch out for Hoejja's one hit wonder ZvP.

I would have rather seen Eff0rt as well. But I still think CJ played the best we could. Gl to SKT. We'll see you guys next time. Count on it!

Your stuff makes sense but it might also be that the CJ coach, having way better info than us and already having been pretty good at sniping throughout the series thought his gamble would pay off more often than his "obvious" picks.
Just like you think replacing him might pay off instead of just going the obvious route of letting him stay and say better luck next time since he's been good in the past.

When do I get to see that 2,000 word essay on how great SKT is and how they will repeat as PL champs! lol fireing coach cho would be the most insane move ever and GG.. got results spoiled by awtching the mbc wemade game lol but o wells T_T so sad aishhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lol CJ coach is good, he just got a bit unlucky having to face SKT.
If anything, the Hwaseung coach should be fired -_- and January maybe, or she's getting really unlucky with her players lol

Firing Cho is a dumb idea. That man is probably the best coach I've ever seen in terms of choosing matches for his swiss-knife army.

They sent out snow cause SNOW IS A BALLER, end of discussion, he just some-how lost. Probably cause he was nervous.
