Winner: KHAN oOoOoOoOOOOOHHHHHHHH YEAH
JangBi: "High templar gave me new life."
Jangbi smiled wholeheartedly. On 12th of December, Jangbi smiled in his booth when he knew that victory was within his grasp. It looked like he finally overcame all his troubles in SPL Round 1.
Q & A:
Q: First thoughts on the victory? A: It was a comeback win, so I couldn't control my happiness and turn to the camera. This comeback win will definitely propel me forward.
Q: Why did you smile at the camera? A: I honestly thought I lost after my natural was destroyed. The ensuing epic templar drop prevented my hopes from completely drying out. After the next push succeeded, I knew that victory was within my grasp and couldn't help myself from smiling. Think of it as a shy ceremony (laughs). All my teammates were proud of me!
Q: Maybe you could have saved your natural? A: Right, I could have and should have saved it, but I didn't have observers so it crumbled easily. Again, I thought the game was lost as my natural got destroyed. I still considered myself at a disadvantage even after taking out my opponent's lair with dark templars... and then, high templars struck jackpot.
Q: I don't think you expected your high templars to hit such a huge jackpot. A: A lot of my nicknames are related to the high templar. Free's nicknames are also related to the high templar, but I won today so the nickname is mine for the time being. I really got help from above [T/N: help from God / heavens / the supernatural / Lady Luck / deities]. The intent was to reduce the drone count a little, but it ended up being like an epic lotto jackpot. I might have killed almost 2 control groups of drones. Usually they [T/N: see previous T/N] tend to abandon me, but today they gave me new life.
Q: Still, only 2 wins this season. You have a long way to go. A: If there were no Winner's Leagues, it would be a really long road ahead. However, because of WL, I should be able to catch up. I want to out-perform Light's performance in the WL last year. I know that things might not happen as I plan, so I don't want to think about it too much. I might get severely criticized (laughs).
Q: Next up is Hite, anybody you want to face on that team? A: I don't want to pick a particular player on these kinds of questions. Every player knows that you have to win no matter who you face. If the opponent plays poorly, that's good (laughs) and even if the opponent plays well, I have to win for my team.
Q: You (and your team) could use a winning streak right now. A: I'm always looking to put together a winning streak. I will revive as I keep gaining momentum. In practice, I'm fine, but the televised matches have been troublesome. When I fully recover my confidence, I will definitely go on a winning streak.
Q: Last words? A: The company promised to gift each player a Galaxy Tab [T/N: ZOMG]. My most sincere thanks to the company! I will play even better to repay their support. Stork said our team just might start performing dramatically better.

Grape: "I'm practising my micro like crazy."
On the 12th of December, Grape defeated Really and earned his 3rd win of the season. It was an unveiling moment of Grape's PvT capabilities, who has only played PvP this season prior to today's match. Proving what it means to be on the same team as PvT masters Stork and Jangbi, Grape played a swell management game.
Q & A:
Q: First thoughts on winning? A: I'm glad that I won but it was a bittersweet victory because my opponent was Really, who was a teammate last season. We all know that Really is a superb player, so I'm sure he'll play better in his next game.
Q: You survived the dangerous moments. A: My mind is kind of numb during the game so I didn't know whether I was ahead or behind. I still don't know, so I'll have to watch the VOD for that. Oh, but I felt the game wasn't exactly going my way when vulture harass came in and caused many damages.
Q: When did you know that you were definitely going to win? A: I was sure of my victory when I blew up his 12 o'clock command center. Actually, then I took that thought back when my attack was repelled at 11 o'clock. And then I realized I had more bases and unit production was going smoothly, so then I thought I still had a good chance.
Q: This was your first PvT this season. A: I'm happy about the win but I have lots to improve. In any match up, I feel that my unit control is lacking, while army production is easier because all you need to do is order (the warping/production of) the units. So, nowadays, I'm practising my micro like crazy. I'm really trying hard but somehow my units get all tangled up (laughs).
Q: What is your mindset going into the next match against Hite? A: Hite is a good team but our team is strong too, so we have a good chance at winning.
Q: Any last words? A: Thanks to all the Terran players for helping me practice, and I will show my improved player next game.
-----
Stork: "I want to play a Terran next time."
Stork successfully avenged his own loss against Neo.G_Soulkey in Round 1. He started with a very gutsy build and thoroughly dominated his opponent the entire game.
Q & A:
Q: First thoughts on winning? A: I'm happy about the win. It feels even better because I lost against him in the previous round, and now I have taken revenge.
Q: Your build seemed to be very risky. A: It was a build that took a long time to prepare. No matter who's playing Zerg, it's a build that would succeed (for the Protoss player) the first time around. Benzene is a map with a relatively long rush distance, which makes this build viable here. It's been tested thoroughly in practice so although it may have looked to be super-risky, I didn't worry too much. I shall proceed to test it out on other maps too.
Q: That build gave you a big advantage to start with. A: Normally, that build is enough to guarantee a win. Despite the disadvantage, Soulkey handled the situation very well and even managed to harass with a few lurkers. His gameplay was solid, but I already had an insurmountable advantage from the build.
Q: How does it feel to win with JangBi again? A: Not only did JangBi win today, but Great won as well. It's feels great to have the three of us, the older members, win on the same day. It's still early in Round 2, so we'll have to continue the good pace.
Q: Are you looking forward to the Winner's League? A: In the past two seasons of Winner's League, it's a tough one for Protoss players. Back then, the maps were quite unfavourable. The maps are better this season, so I'm starting to get my hopes up a bit. I have never acquired more than 10 wins in a Winner's League round so my first goal will be to overcome that, and then since there's two rounds (of Winner's League format), I want to get as many wins as possible.
Q: Anyone you're looking to play against in the upcoming match against Hite? A: I want to face a Terran. I haven't faced a Terran this season except for Flash. I think I've played PvP the most. Also, I have to play against Sea in OSL the day after the match against Hite, so I really want to face a Terran.
Q: Any last words? A: The gym trainer whom I used to be good friends with before our we moved our dormitory is getting married today. I was invited but couldn't attend due to the match today. My sincere apologies for not being able to attend. Congratulations on the marriage! Lastly, in preparation for this match, our team's Zergs had to practice against a build they simply couldn't beat [T/N: the build he used today]. I know practice has been stressful, so thanks so much for putting up with it.

great: "I wish a speedy recovery to my grandpa."
On December 12th, Great finished off Free and stamped the win for his team. The Zerg player (Great) who lost miserably against Kal in an ace match last week was nowhere to be found. Along with Great, Stork and Jangbi won as well, collectively boosting the team's atmosphere.
Q & A:
Q: First thoughts on winning? A: I'm very happy about the win today. I was really sorry to my teammates for losing the ace match last match, so it feels good to have somewhat compensated for that today.
Q: To what degree did you predict and prepare for your opponent? A: During practice, we observed that Woongjin likes to field a Zerg player on Grand Line SE so I honestly didn't expect to play against a Protoss. I practiced mainly against Terran and Zerg. When I was faced with a Protoss opponent, it felt like they underestimated our Zerg line. I felt insulted. This only augmented my desire to win.
Q: Mutalisks harass scored you a lot of points. A: Recently, the trend in PvZ is to collect a good number of corsairs to dominate the air. This makes it hard for Zergs to use mutalisks effectively. Instead of trying to take down the corsairs with mutalisks, I aimed to attack weak and unprepared spots. This worked pretty well, I think.
Q: The two preceding sets were both PvZ, did you take anything from those sets? A: Both our Protoss players played aggressively in their games. I thought my opponent would play similarly, so I was extra careful.
Q: You brought your win rate this season back up to .500. A: I finally feel like I'm worth my own salary. Really, that's what came to mind first. I'll take today as a new starting point and go for a better win rate, especially that Winner's League is coming up.
Q: Next opponent is Hite. A: The core of our team's power is Protoss so we were worried for today's match against the Zerg-heavy Woongjin. We won today despite our worries, so I think the match against Hite will be easier. We will win. One loss and I'm back below .500 so I really need to win.
Q: Any last words? A: My grandpa was recently hospitalized, and he remains in a severe condition. I wish him a speedy recovery. He always watches my matches, so I hope today's win will give him strength to become healthy soon. [T/N: Awww I wish your grandpa a speedy recovery too! Great's grandpa, get healthy soon!]

That Jangbi game was so awesome! I haven't watched Brood War in a while, much less tuned in to a live Proleague stream, so it was definitely a nice "welcome back" present.
However, why ZerO stuck to 5 hatch hydra against zealot/templar is a different story. I thought for sure he won after he took out Jangbi's natural.

I think Jangbi vs Zero, combined with Anytime vs hero[join] from earlier this week, prove conclusively that effective use of templar is much more critical than most players think.

lol stop censoring Jangbi's words. If you're an atheist it doesn't mean he has to be. If you are gonna twist his words every time, and then put little translator notes all over the place, why not just translate his words accurately so you don't have to give your translation a running political commentary?
its not religion-neutral. You are judging Jangbi's words as inappropriate and worthy of censorship and it's kinda silly. No one here is going to get offended.

No one here is going to get offended. actually, it's the other way around If OpticalShot had translated Jangbi's words as "I got help from God," that could be misconstruing Jangbi / slander. We don't know what religion Jangbi follows (if any at all), so it's better to use religion-neutral language.
On December 12 2010 17:53 Pyrrhuloxia wrote: No one here is going to get offended. right
One last thing. In East Asian languages (at least Chinese, but I think Korean is similar enough), saying you got help from a deity doesn't actually imply religious belief. However, if you try to translate it literally, then it does imply you have religious belief. So it's good that OP was careful about it.

Show nested quote +On December 12 2010 17:53 Pyrrhuloxia wrote: No one here is going to get offended. right well then his translation note seems confusing to me. Just because Jangbi mentions God doesn't mean he's not mentioning God other than as a figure of speech, especially if the translation is accurate that he first uses God as singular and than in plural. And when no deity is named, I'm not sure why we would jump to thinking Jangbi was religious, much less a follower of a particular religion, if the literal translation was used. It seems weird to say "they" rather than "the gods" when the pronoun "they" doesn't refer back to anything. Seems like it would be more efficient to write "the gods" and then there is no need for a translation note.
EDIT: I dunno I don't really know Korean. I interpreted the translation note of "I wish to remain religion-neutral" to mean that Jangbi said something in Korean meaning "God" but Optical Shot doesn't like to say God so he didn't. But if Jangbi wasn't saying anything that necessarily referred to god/gods than I suppose that there are language issues I just would have no clue about.

The literal translation would be "I got help from the sky" with the sky implying God/deity/supernatural/Lady Luck. Kind of weird to say you get help from the sky, and I can't really nail a "God" to it because in Korean, "getting help from the sky" includes everything I said above + luck. The term 'sky' used in this context is used more as a collective term rather than a singular object.

This new PvZ build was pretty baller. I've seen 1 gateway expands with zealots to force zerglings and kill drones, then sealing with cannons - but I have never seen a 1 gate 1 core expand without a forge. Sure, it only works on certain maps, but it's still baller. ICCUP HERE I COME!!!'
