Today, WeMade Entertainment announced that they will no longer be operating their progaming team, FOX, at August 31st.
WeMade expanded into e-Sports in 2007, when they had expanded their operations as they added other operations. However, at the end of last year, the company had decided to concentrate on their original goal of developing games.
While they had tried to find solutions, including the possible sale of the team, but as selling the team had become difficult, they had to make the difficult decision of ceasing operation of the WeMade Fox Progaming Team.
This decision applies to all the teams operated by WeMade, not just BW, but SC2/WC3 also.
Addendum: DES reports that the WeMade has asked KeSPA to manage the Brood War team. This means either find a new sponsor for the team, or to do what they had done with ESTRO last year -- meaning, have them be drafted into other teams through a bidding war.
Addendum 2: DES further reports that it is still not clear where Lyn, Moon, and Soccer would go, and WeMade will be meeting with them on the 23rd to discuss their future plans.
This extends to all gaming teams I would believe, oh Milkis edited the op oh well Midas, Baby, Mind, TT Where is Rock going to go when he comes back from ACE? D= Wait, what if a sponsor swoops in and saves the day?

i think that was short term only anyways as thorzain was planning to go home atleast, and im guessing fenix aswell.
Lame. First MBCgame, now WMF. Maybe the two teams can join together like Sparkyz and Entus did? There has to be some company that would sponsor a team with Baby, Sea and Mind.
Moon to OGS please!! >_< They need more good zergs (outside of Zenio), and an old school progamer like him should fit in the 'old generations' culture imo~
ugh..This is so depressing.. First MBC, now this.. MBC still isn't confirmed but I think most people have to assume it will be soon.. ㅜㅜ... This is not good for starcraft 2, so before everyone says that, and destroys this thread, please take the time to read. This is not good for eSports, bw and sc2 alike... This has been rumored for a month or two now that wemadefox was in it's final stages.. It's so sad to see it actually happen.
I know about this for some time now, but wasn`t allowed to tell anyone. Money is tight and so they had to fire the Teamorga WMF.Paul some month ago and at that point it already was unsure if the esports division would survive. Sadly it didn`t work out. Where might the players end?
Ugh, my heart just sank hard after reading this news. Quite depressing, especially after hearing about how well the Proleague finals did on TV. Coupled with the troubles over at MBCGame, the recent news about the Korean BW scene is depressing, especially considering how many great players and fans the scene has. Although I believe that it will take many more disasters over many more years to fully demolish the Korean BW scene, n like this is always sad.
However, I'm highly interested to see where the players will go after the disbanding. F. United will probably operate until they're done with GSTL, as they always seemed to be a short-term, scrappy coalition of foreigners and WC3 hybrids. I expect most of their BW players to be drafted onto other BW teams, similar to what happened with Estro's players. There is a likely possibility that a few may switch to SC2, but it'll take some time for them to acclimate themselves before making an impact in competitions.
Alas, it is sad to see the team of Nada, Moon, and BaBy finally close its doors. I wonder what will happen to their very nice team house, as it would be a shame if it were to also shut its doors for good.
On August 22 2011 11:31 Ciryandor wrote: Also, BaBy, herO[jOin], Major, Midas, Mind, Pure, RorO, Shine, and Wooki all without teams. D:
Thats not really a problem. The ones that don't want to retire/transition will surely get offers. Its more about being down to 9 teams now from 12 2 years ago.
Really sad WeMade had great teams in a great environment...too bad they succumbed.
I want Midas/Baby and ZerO in Oz somehow though. A solid ZvPer would be awesome and those Ts will make sure nobody ever loses in the early/midgame ever again in Oz lols.
NOOOOOOO!!! I've spent years supporting them despite their mediocre performances in Proleague. When Mind won the MSL over Bisu, I felt such a sense of accomplishment and have felt the same hope for players like Shine, Pure, Roro, and Baby. Such a shame that they have to disband now :o(.
It just feels like the teams are going to start disbanding one after the other... there's been only a couple so far, or was there another besides Fox and eSTRO? I hope this doesn't become a trend.
This was leaked a few days ago wasn't it? Someone made mention that the SC2/WC3 squad were being let go, although I can't remember it mentioning BW. This isn't a sign BW is dying.. their whole organisation is pulling out of every E-Sport. Someone will likely pick the squad up.
Btw, does anyone have any info about how WeMade the company is doing atm? I have a gut feeling that perhaps a contributor to the recent troubles in BW may be due to recent global recessions, though I'm not familiar enough with the global economy to provide an accurate commentary.

The Hite Sparkyz merged with CJ Entus to create Hite Enuts, which was recently renamed back to CJ Entus.
It seems that the Hite Sparkyz and Estro were victims in 2010, and FOX is now the latest victim in 2011. 12 teams to 9 is quite sad.
iG will in all likelihood pick up Moon; I don't see anyone outbidding them, and they've expressed an interest in Moon before. Dunno if they might try to grab Lyn and Soccer, though they really should. China's short on really good NEs, so Soccer would be nice, and Lyn is Lyn - one of the best Orcs around.
If iG does pick Moon up, I really hope they keep Moon playing WC3/SC2. He's got RTS in his blood, and him being contracted for DotA would make me a sad panda.
This isn't about F.United it will exist with another name but the big news about this is the BW impact. Hope they find new homes if they can't find a team to sponsor them. 12 to 9 just like that
I'm sure F. United will still compete for the rest of the Team League, just like "fOu," but after that, there really is no "F. United" team, there never was, so no, the BW players can't just switch to SC2 as F. United players.
Curious to know what they mean by requesting that KeSPA manage the BW team. Are they disbanding or are they going to be kept together in hopes of perhaps finding a new sponsor?

You think Moon is going to play DotA... He is going to stick with SC2/WC3
I think if fox actually generated more winning in tournaments this outcome wouldn't have happen well I guess that's just my take at this conclusion however I felt that the lost of seeing baby, bear ,mind, pure under we made logo is quite sad . But i think like any sponsoring sponsors would have pull out of the e sport business if their team isn't performing be it Real life sports or E sports.

And then there's MBCGame HERO, Who I don't think will survive past the 11-12 season. Next summer we'll be down to 8 unless new sponsors come to pick up the teams when old sponsors pull out.
New teams won't start up from scratch though, not anymore. Every year there's too much uncertainty about the following year, and starting a team from scratch (large pickups in rookie drafts, picking up mediocre a-teamers from other teams, etc) is a big gamble that would take at least a couple seasons to show results. At best we can hope for keeping the teams we have under new sponsors.
On August 22 2011 11:20 eton7410 wrote: GG for BW. It is starting.
No. If anything, it is GG for e-sports. You realize they shut down their SC2 division as well, right?
Their Sc2 division was not that strong but I see your point, though it's mostly going to affect bw I guess. Obviously they could have become a better Sc2 team but atm they were not.
That really sucks badly. I really liked WeMade. I hope they will manage to find another sponsor though... If not we will be left with only 9 teams and would really suck.
well in my opinion I don't want to prick on any nerves but team getting reduced to 9 team and distributing better players among weak team in certain deparment(not over all so don't flame me) , team like oz,woongjin, stx would have benefitted through transfer of the players from we madefox if there is no sponsor for we made fox . We madefox have serious terran firepower line up in their player list any one who manages to get them will definitely benefitted from it .

Looks like SaviOr, recession, Korean MMOs, and SC2 has taken its toll on the BW scene. (SC2 may not be as popular as BW, but I'm sure the sponsors think SC2 will eventually spell the doom of BW.)

You nailed it, I'm amazed I never thought of Flash killing everyone in 2011.
I know that it what I am about to say is going to make some angry (I'm sorry!). But I'm actually glad to see another team go down. (sorry!) I really think that the Proleague is keeping BW alive and I really want to see it die. I know that sounds horrible, but I really feel that we have seen most if not all BW has to offer, and I really want to see all of these top Koreans switch over to SC2. As was seen at the last MLG, Koreans like Boxer and MMA have soooo much to contribute to the SC2 scene. Boxer and MMA permanently changed SC2's TvZ in one tournament with that amazing hellion play.
The more teams that go down, the quicker the Proleague will die off, and the faster these players will switch to SC2. And yes I know there are SC2 players on the team too I'm getting there.

I have no doubt that they will be picked up at the rate the SC2 scene is expanding. At the very least Moon will be due to his notoriety. As a big WC3 fan, I don't exactly like the idea of losing pro players. But like with BW, the WC3 scene is dead and not coming back. Top WC3 players have moved on and time for us fans to do the same.
Again sorry for my ill wishes to a great BW team, but it is honestly how I feel.

First 3 sure. SC2? HAHA! Korean SC2 teams are having a hard enough time surviving themselves. TSL and Prime losing sponsors. Fou needing FXO, a foreign company to come in and save them. oGs and MVP can't afford to send their players overseas so they have to partner with SK and complexity. Zenex losing players and possibly disbanding themselves. Only IM and Slayers are truly safe, the latter only because of Boxer.

Rumors of Moon to iG have been floating around for forever ever since iG was formed. Mutual interest was expressed, and I guess all we can do is wait for the fall-out.
Slightly off-topic, but the SCBW rage regarding SC2 is kind of funny to read. (Not laugh-out-loud funny, but sort of a sad funny.) I'm a die-hard WC3 fan, and I think all of us are pretty much resigned to WC3 fading away in the next year or two. Having our players switch to SC2 isn't really seen as anything bad; it is what it is, and it's nice to know that after WC3's death, we'll still have players like ToD and Grubby and hopefully Soccer, Moon, and Lyn still playing SC2. I guess it's just weird to me to see so much hope and passion for such an old scene after I spent the last few years watching WC3 start to vanish, little by little.

haha you're going to get so much hate for this
i won't hate, i'll just tell you that you're not going to get your wish. bw > sc2 in korea by far, even the poorest bw teams have more money than the richest sc2 teams
this won't ever change, as the korean sc2 scene will die out long before the korean bw scene due to the huge international tournaments. I think sc2 will end up like wc3 (but more popular than wc3 was) where pretty much everything was international.
and just to spite you, i hope you don't get to see baby bear play SC2. Go back to SKT baby bear
It makes sense that they'd be interested, they're clearly liking the whole BW sponsorship thing since they've sponsored Starleague 3 times. Weren't they already a sponsor of WMF? I think I remember seeing little Korean Air patches on their uniforms.
Hope they can get a deal done, I really don't want to see WMF go the way of eSTRO.

You think Moon is going to play DotA... He is going to stick with SC2/WC3
I saw the article but i can't translate it. But wouldn't he join as an SC2 player? I mean does Moon even know how to play DotA and who would invictus drop for moon? There is a language barrier too if Moon decided to play for Invictus as a DotA player

I think you misinterpret what he said. He doesn't seem to be happy that WC3 is dying; he is just accepting that WC3's demise is inevitable and accepting what is reality instead of acting angry about it. It seems that he is only happy that WC3's players will still be able to continue their legacy in a different game instead of fading into obscurity.
:\ I'm starting to distrust when Korean teams say "nothing is confirmed" or "it's just a rumor." Sucks, hope all the players find a home to keep them playing, whichever game it may be.

It basically says that WMF let go of Soccer, Moon, and Lyn and that iG expressed an interest in Moon and may pick him up as a DotA player. (It remains to be seen whether or not they were joking.) I think Moon would prefer to stick with WC3/SC2, but I guess it all depends on how much money he's offered.
Moon has probably dabbled in DotA. And I have no idea how they'd even deal with the language barrier. Combine that with the fact that iG's DotA team is strong enough, and I want to say that it's just a joke.

I have hope they'll be able to find a sponsor. Might have to cut some players but if they keep their core they can survive next season. Baby and Wooki are future stars (Baby is an ace-level player already). Roro, Shine, Mind, and Midas are good/decent A-teamers. If the new sponsor can get Best from free agency (if I were SKT I'd be willing to let him go so that Rain, Ssak and Paralyze could develop), they'd probably be contenders.
Not my favorite team, but I'm not happy to see them go like this. If I had three wishes, I would use one of them to remind people how awesome StarCraft is.
This is super upsetting D:. I hope they manage to find a new sponsor, cause with so little in terms of teams, I'm not sure how much longer BW can live on for D: ... I'm confident they will find the right solution though! Hopefully all the Terrans and Roro (and Shine I suppose ) will be able to play well without worries in the future!

A sad day for BW, SC2, WC3, and Counter-Strike. WeMade FOX was always a team I liked, if only for the cool name. Hopefully a new team springs up to take their place.
I wonder how this affects F United, and by extension the MLG/GSL league exchange, but this isn't the right forum for that :/
Flash wins WCG, BW removed from WCG Flash wins golden badge, MBC turns into kpop channel Flash's team wins Proleague 09-10, estro disbands Flash's team wins Proleague 10-11, wemade fox disbands
lucky osl could withstand the rampage of flash, or else that golden mouse would have been deadly
EDIT: damn ninjaed before I began, see bearbuddy's post on page 8
This isn't just about the BW pro-team disbanding, its all of Wemades teams disbanding, SC2 WC3 etc. So as far as I can understand it isn't a 'direct' hit on the broodwar scene... i.e. Wemade is not pulling out because BW has no future, but rather because they have another focus...
Had a feeling this was happening for a long time, was basically confirmed when they dropped the CS team.
WMF was my favorite CS team besides '09 fnatic. Not a huge fan of their BW roster but it's always sad to see a team leave, wish them the best in whatever they do.
I do wonder if lyn/moon will retire, stick with wc3, or go sc2 full time though. Also interested in seeing where BaBy goes.

So, in regards to the Brood War team, they lost their sponsor, and now they're asking KeSPA to be an "interim sponsor" while trying to find a new one, such as Korean Air (AirFOX? Air FOX Ace?)?
If that's the case then...that's not that that bad? It sounds like WMF is scrapping their SC2 team (fairly bad if that sinks F United. No big loss if it doesn't) and it's WC3 team (which is apparently really bad for WC3) as well as Counter-Strike (which I know nothing about), to try and keep their BW division afloat. Is that accurate? I suppose it's good for Brood War that they consider all the other games expendable like that, though I don't disagree with their decision.

Moon's expensive. I only really see Chinese teams dishing out the money he'd want. (And keep in mind that Moon, in one of the articles I linked to, himself has expressed interest in joining iG.) Additionally, I don't know why EG would pick him up. His SC2 results haven't been amazing, and they killed their WC3 division a while ago; I don't see them going back to WC3 ever. Meanwhile, iG doesn't have a WC3 division as far as I can tell, but with them being a Chinese team, they're probably not averse to starting one. Also, seeing as how Moon is going to play WC3 for the WCG, I kind of expect him to join a Chinese team, whichever one that will be.
Note that I'm not saying Moon is going to DotA - I hope he doesn't, though if he does, I'll always be a fan and try to force myself to sit through his DotA games, no matter how boring I think DotA is to spectate - I'm just the messenger delivering the rumors.
(And yes, he is married.)
EDIT: Forgot to add that with iG flinging around money like there's no tomorrow - seriously, six million USD for CCM is fucking ridiculous - I wouldn't be surprised if they just bought WMF's WC3 division. I might even prefer it that way, to be honest.

As far as WC3 goes: all of the WMF warcraft3 players were mostly SC2 players these days anyway (Moon, Soccer, Lyn). And my understanding of competitive WC3 these days is that you either move to china or switch to sc2 anyway.
As much as I want to be greedy and have KT take Baby for ourselves, for the sake of parity in Brood War (because let's face it, sponsors are much more quick to pull the plug on underperforming teams) it would be best if this sort of situation played out (assuming WMF does indeed disband)
Baby -> STX Mind -> Oz Roro -> Khan Shine -> Khan Wooki -> Stars Midas -> Ace
Man with teams dying and the rest becoming bloated with strong players they will have to start playing bo9's or something, otherwise new blood will get 0 playtime.
Sigh... then again, FOX has always struggled to perform in SPL and SWL, especially since Baby's performance hasn't been so hot after his huge hype a while back. Understandable, but still =(
If WMF becomes completely dead then the SPL will become kinda a joke with only 7 competing teams. In fact, the elephant in the room is the fact that companies are pulling out of BW in Korea, and e.g. if MBC and STX disband in the future (it is possible, and may happen sooner rather than later), that only leaves 5 teams: KT, Khan, SKT, Oz and Ace (edit: forgot CJ D: ) . Also, I wonder which TV channel will even broadcast BW if things keep heading this way.
Honestly, I think that if WMF isn't saved, then it could be the tipping point into the death of BW in Korea.

I wouldn't count the fan-eating chickens before they've hatched.
I'm not sure about MBC, but I think STX isn't in danger of disbanding, especially not before they try out their "after" team (once the restructuring is done).

You forgot Woongjin too.
Woongjin has been a counterexample to all the teams disbanding. They're not one of the big 4 giant corporation teams, yet they actively spent money last season to try to improve their team (getting Really in the estro dissolution draft, buying Light from MBC)
I don't think STX is considering pulling out. The fact that they're trying to shake up their roster actually says to me that they're still very interested in the success of their BW team.
MBC is another story. They've never invested too much into improving their team, and have in fact sold all their valued players except for Sea. They also had the biggest exodus for SC2, with Coach Lee and a bunch of the B-teamers leaving. They're the only team that's really in danger now, I think.
Always sad to see a team fall. Hopefully they can find a new organization but if they don't hopefully they can all find new teams. With any luck this won't happen to any other teams.
So I'm wondering where Moon and Lyn are gonna go. They don't have any results in SC2 yet, but they had huge salaries while on Fox.
They are going to have to take a huge pay cut and join oGs and follow ex-Fox's NaDa or something. Or maybe teams with unlimited money will try to snatch them up. EG.Moon, FXO-Lyn? Maybe Sixjax is going to get their first korean? Or maybe they go to some Taiwan team like Sen.
Maybe one of the european teams will buy a korean. I'd love to see Millenium or Empire buy either one of those players.
BW proteams are dropping like flies :/ It was inevitable i guess, but it s strange how the teams "fall" first not the players leave, though understandable if you consider the money aspect
I'm surprised many of you guys are surprised though, Koreans already knew that the Fox vs Oz match at the STX master's cup was going to be last game before they disbanded; also, you could tell by baby's "fantasy gg timing" and his hardly-noticeable tears after the game that this was most likely the last match for him as a FOX member.

I've said this a few pages back, but iG (Invictus Gaming, which recently bought out CCM and LGD for six million USD) is apparently interested in picking up Moon and possibly starting a WC3 division. I honestly think that if they pick up Moon, they should buy Soccer and Lyn while they're at it for the full package. Both Moon and Lyn are practicing for the WCG so I don't think they'll have any big accomplishments in SC2 until after the WCG this year ends (hopefully with Moon taking the championship so he can complete his WC3 trophy case), and the WC3 scene is definitely still alive and thriving in China. They could even be signed up as hybrid players again, seeing as how iG has a pretty decent SC2 team, with XiGua leading the charge and xiaOt as the manager.
I dunno. This is all pretty depressing. We'll see what happens. In terms of SC2 teams, I'd like to see Moon go to oGs, actually, though it'd be absolutely hilarious if Grubby picks all the WMF WC3 folks up.

Well, for sure it doesn't thrive in an age where free Korean MMOs are stealing potential talent and mindshare away. Since gaming is so pervasive in Korean culture already, it's a zero-sum game now IMO.
Note: Unlike BW players whose contracts already expired, players in FOX's WC3 division have some time left in their contract. (~6 month in Moon's case)
According to MT, there hasn't been a formal discussion regarding WC3 players' future. FOX will meet with Moon, Lyn and Soccer tomorrow (23rd) to discuss their future. If other teams show interest, FOX will pursue trading Moon or Lyn.

I wonder if Moon still gets his money. He signed a $200k+ per year contract when he joined Fox right? That means if he still has 6 months left there could be a fight over the last 100 grand.
This is what happens when you have 2 (maybe 3) imbalanced teams and the competition structured such as those 2 (maybe 3) teams are always disputing the title between themselves. How much time and money could small teams spend without ever being close to winning the Proleague?
An end of a truely amazing era for WeMadeFox such a great awesome team comes to an end I hope they all find teams quickly and wish the company good luck in creating games!
Makes me a sad panda. I've never really liked their BW team, but they are so old school it's sad to see them go. Furthermore the overall trend to see BW dying ever so slowly. Hope many make the sc2 switch and that the sc2 players find new teams.
Well, I hope this forces Moon and Lyn to focus on either WC3 or SC2, didn't really like how they focused on both and showed only lackluster results in SC2 at best. :-/

It would be brilliant if a new sponsor were to step in. I'm sure that would be good news for the entire progaming scene right now, and if there was ever a time when progaming will gain exposure for a company, it's now.

Actually, THAT is bad news.
When the scene is largely upheld by state-owned/sponsored companies like Korean Air and Shinhan, you know there is trouble. Because these companies dont have the strict adherence to the bottom line and money flow of private companies, they can spend without much precautions. But when you see that it is ONLY these kind of companies, or largely only them, who is spending the dough, it becomes apparent how pessimistic real private enterprise is about the utility of promoting esports.

Except that
A. Blizz lost that lawsuit, so it doesn't affect BW B. WeMadeFOX is a team, not a tournament organizer, so they aren't affected by SC2 broadcast rights.
And I'd hardly call BW "struggling" in an objective sense, seeing as they got 21% of males 16-19 watching the highest-rated TV show in the proleague finals. Maybe it's smaller than it was last year and having troubles as a result, but there's a bit of a step between that and a charity case.

Yeah, there were some rumours that Samsung was thinking about disbanding before Fox announced their decision, and this article coming out. I'm not sure how accurate and reliable it is though. You know what internet rumours are like.

Netizens are just guessing. The only teams not involved in such rumors are the two telecoms.

So, sad as it is, what are the genuine reasons at play here? They don't see a decent enough of a return of investment anymore with a BW team, or a team like WeMadeFox? But I wonder, even though SC2 exists now, I don't see how the bw scene has changed that much for the investments to be worth less? Surely this is an isolated problem for the company of WeMade Fox such that speculation on other companies is pointless; if the speculation proves true then we have to assume the BW scene has diminished to a point that it costs too much to run a team to be worth it and surely is the end of all things.

After 4-5 years of running a team, companies pulling sponsorship is not unexpected, especially if their new CEOs have little interest in esports, as is the case with Wemade and MBC. The true test will be whether Kespa can find new sponsors for either of these teams. If they can't, then you can probably say that esports (not just BW because it isn't just BW being affected here) in Korea is struggling.

Because they forced the BW industry to pay tribute to them. No doubt it is part of the reason for financial distress, as the financial difficulty cascades through the changing preference scales through transactions

"pay tribute" I was under the impression blizzard weren't after financial gain, rather recognition, at least according to the articles I read when this was a hot issue. I highly doubt this had anything to do with Fox's e-sports teams disbanding, I think you're just looking for any excuse to point the finger at blizzard.
I was really hoping these rumors weren't true, but it seems they are. This sucks so much, I really really hope that the team can find a new sponsor, otherwise the players will just be drafted by all the other teams and it will be just another step towards the end of BW (which hopefully isn't anytime soon).
I hope Kespa will find a new sponsor, we need to keep the Fox team for Proleague. At least, i'm glad BW has such a solid structure thanks to Kespa, it gives me a glimmer of hope about the future.
Bad news, but maybe some good can come of it. Hopefully WeMade's talent can be distributed amongst the struggling teams, which will give them the extra fire-power they need to be competitive with the top dogs (KT, SKT, CJ).

This means either find a new sponsor for the team, or to do what they had done with ESTRO last year.
Sad to say I'm not one bit shocked by this considering all the rumors floating around Moon, Lyn and Soccer. We knew this day was coming and they couldn't chime in on it. Really sucks, but it's a real challenge finding a buyer and sponsors for the leagues nowadays.

We already knew this from before regarding MBC. Once the channel closes shop, so will the team. Samsung is new to me though and it's odd considering they are the main sponsor of WCG. In either case... -_-
WemadeFox was one of my favourite teams in BW, really liked the name... <.< Whenever I read it, I thought of the BW professionals hand making fox plushies in their team house.

It's possible they'll find a new sponsor, and if not should move on to new teams. Honestly, while the loss of any team is sad, given the huge differences in performance between teams this year, getting some of the talent on Fox to join Oz/Khan/STX/MBC would probably be good for the game as a whole.
In very short amount of time we saw fOu merging with FXO, WMF disbanding and rumors about ZENEX also ready do dissolve. That's 3 teams less in less than a month:|
I'm worried that BW is doomed, and SC2 is not getting better in Korea, and eventually both will die. It feels as if the scene would be better with only one of them, either BW or SC2.

Korean Air is one of their sponsors but whether they'll take over the operating rights of the team is the big question. I hope so anyway.
I'm getting seriously worried about the fate of pro BW. I hope the good ratings pulled in by PL finals will make some heads turn and Our Game is saved.

I wouldn't be surprised if next season, EG picks up the foreigner players for a run at the team league. I don't know how many of them are actually IN korea, but at least Inc/HuK/Idra... That, along with whoever the next set of ferigners to come over from MLG are should field a full team ezpz.
Personally I think this is a good thing, the team has been to small and they have shown no interest in recruiting more talent. There can be no such thing as a semi pro team at the top levels anymore.

You hope esports organizations keep falling? This is not an effort to get players to sc2. FOX already had sc2 players (who are also affected by this). "not pulling out of eports for good" well, that's exactly what WeMade FOX (or their sponsors rather) just did.

"IF", but the organization has already pulled out... + Show Spoiler +
Something Reach would never do
There's is no IF. One can only hope that some other organization some to the rescue with a sponsorship. And even if that happens I personally don't hope any of the players switch games against their will.
Edit: lol, I think I finally understood it right. So if this trend continues for organizations in the future, you would rather they go on to newer games instead of totally disbanding, right? Well, that doesn't sound as bad then.. I still partially disagree though; I don't want entire teams or even single players to switch to a different game against their will. (kinda like I already mentioned in the post below)
Your post is also flawed in the sense that FOX already had an sc2 team - and I don't think this in any way is game specific - bw is doing pretty damn well in South Korea.

Look bro both games are suffering 'cause of this. Its no time for fits and arguments between BW and SC2. Its time to stick together as brothers, because its tough times for both games, with the korean industry in trouble.

I think it's about time some big korean company to begin sponsoring a new team! SAMSUNG has a team so big korean companies just go! Do it! LG, KIA, HYUNDAI ... etc! ASAP!
MBC and FOX disbanding ... cannot bare any more really! Another sad day for BroodWar!
SC2 comments are just as bad here as they were in the MBC thread. We. Get. It.
Edit :
If Samsung disbands...I really hope it's just rumors...because JangBi and Stork need to be in my BW. I can't imagine only having Bisu to cheer for as a Protoss fan.
Edit 2: I didn't realize WeMades SC2 teams disbanded too. NVM then, SCII comments are relevant...still don't like the immediate assumption that BW ---> SC2 though...
Fuck.. that's horrible. I remember there was a thread where everyone dismissed it as a rumor, but I guess it's really true. I hope Soccer/Moon/Lyn all find good homes.

Uhh 16-19 year old koreans will go buy their automobiles? No. They spend their allowance on tech gadgets and cell phone bill like samsung, olleh, kt, skt... and on food and cool kids clothing like CJ and hwaseung and tubes. Where do STX and Woongjin fit in this? I have no fucking idea, surprised to see their management choose this path.

For the Brood War players, they will be put under KeSPA stewardship and be able to practice at the YongSong I-Park E-Sports stadium for a limited time while they try to find a different sponsor (usually for the duration of the SPL off-season). If this does not happen, the players will be drafted to different teams based on how much they're willing to pay for that player (and if two teams bid on a player, the one with the highest gets that player). If a player does not get picked up by a different team, then they will probably have to retire.
For WC3 and SC2, it's not known. The current head coach and/or WeMade staff will discuss and help with individual plans for those players. They will probably also join the BW players at the YongSong stadium for practice (though not sure if their computers are up-to-date for SC2).
Their best players like Mind and Moon will most definitely be picked up by different teams.

Doubt it. Maybe a few of the B-teamers who still wanna play games for a living but can't find a place to go. They might take it as the change they need to start their life in a more reliable career/education/etc. I don't think any of the A-teamers are planning on switching to SC2 tho, since they'll have the ability to play on other teams.
It's weird how many SC2 players think SC2 is the natural progression. For a lot of people, especially everyone who doesn't play it, it's really not that attractive. Maybe I shouldn't, but I do find it offensive when SC2 players see some trouble in the BW community and immediately pounce on it to say "HEY MAYBE EVERYONE WILL MOVE TO SC2 LOL." It's hard being a BW fan these days because of so many bad news =(... I really hope that WeMade is bought by another sponsor, but in event of a draft, I'll be pissed if KT and SKT picks up likes of Baby, Roro, Mind, etc., That will make the PL a 2 horse race and just about guarantee another SKT vs KT final (unless CJ pulls through) which will encourage more sponsors to leave BW. I hope instead of bidding war, Kespa give the team who finished last the first pick, second last the second pick, and so on to make the league more competitive.

Moon played the best out of the entire F.United team against SlayerS, actually. Lyn and Soccer were pretty horrible, though, but I guess not everyone can be game-juggling genies like Moon. That said, Lyn and Soccer clearly have the potential to do well in SC2; Lyn was in Code S up until a while ago and made it to the last round of the Code A qualifiers this past month while practicing for the WCG Korean qualifiers. Soccer has made it through the Code A qualifiers before as well, so he has talent and must have at least one good match-up.

Proleague final was not the highest rated show on television. It was the highest for a cable channel with 1.777% viewership. In comparision, popular dramas and shows aired on non-cable (i dunno what the correct term is in English) often average above 20%. I don't think how much Flash's contract is worth is the best indicator for how BW scene as a whole is doing. Professional BW, like many other industries, is a pyramid. Very few at the top make a lot of money, but there are a lot more B-teamers and practice partners at the bottom who make next to nothing. The total funding that BW receives has definitely dropped a lot over the last few years.

The desire is fine. It can become baiting depending where and how it is expressed.
I can see moon lyn and soccer making a deal with EG so they can stay and practice with EG in their new team house. But not officially be part of EG so they won't receive salaries from EG.

This really sucks for the RTS scene in general, but even if the rumors are true and two more teams are on the decline, the pro BW scene isn't going anywhere soon.
Flash re-signed with KT for what, 250k? And the most SPL finals pulled record viewership - and from a young generation as well.
My favorite team.. Since Toona S.G. to Pantech & Curitel to Pantech EX to WeMade Fox =[
I wonder what will happen to each of them And I wish I had a picture on this computer of the WeMade shirts on the wall behind the desktop, with my banner above them and WeMade Fox mousepad under my mouse. And I constantly wear my Fox bandana as well =[
That sucks! I hope Thorzain, Naniwa, and Fenix can find a permanent home next month! I hope the other Wemade players find a new home quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if a foreign team like FXO swoops them up.

If you are seriously bothered by people speculating whether certain BW pros will switch to SC2 even after their team has disbanded, then it's probably a personal problem. People have switched before, obviously, so it's legit speculation to wonder if it will happen again, given the circumstances.
Good players will soon be available in abundance and some teams might have enough money to pick up some of them. I'm curious whether those teams will pick up good players or rely on promising rookies and/or less-than-stellar veterans.
For example, Woongjin has hOn_sin (decent rookie), as well as GuemChi, free, and Really (under-performing veterans). I doubt they'll bench these guys for potential newcomers like BaBy and Shuttle. Woongjin has a large enough team already (the above four minus free are second-liners) and there's that loyalty between the coach and his current players.

I maintain that no Brood War player will switch to SC2 while still A-list in BW. It'll always only be B-listers looking to see if they do better in a different game, or former A-listers trying to regain lost glory in a new environment

Really retired, Free is in a perpetual slump, Sin didn't win a single playoff game, and Guemchi is pretty bad now. After Light transferred into Stars, he went directly into the lineup and stayed there. However, while I would love to have baby, mind, and Wooki aboard, I would rather have the former FOX find a new sponsor and keep all their players. There is no shortage of kids wanting to be progamers, and there will be talents to be discovered. If, however, we get less teams and the remaining teams absorb the current ones, there will be no demand for new blood and less cash to flow around.

to be fair, while they contracted two teams down, they also altered the proleague format to a best of 7, so in effect everyone gets the same amount of TV time as they did before
Wemadefox is such a great team Especially how professional they were all set up. That big ass teamhouse (from nal_ra's oldboy) looked like the best teamhouse I've ever seen TT

Most SC2 top pros were B-team members or A-team scrubs. Do you have any idea how much even Baby would smash the competition within 6 months of training?
Hate to step in here, but he's probably referring to the fact that he's not playing SC2 full time, and indeed just qualified for WC3 at WCG. It's a general line of thought that if moon actually gave SC2 his full attention, that he'd be noticably better than he already is.
You guys can't be serious if you think Moon is going to get paid as good, if paid at all, in any other team.. So, except for the logistics (he got a lifepartner?) there's no unrealistic teamchoice for him is there? Lyn would be more interesting considering he performed better in Korea and is terran, their meta-game is favorable in all m/u right now.. even TvT
WeMade have invested so much money into progaming and WeMade was always at the bottom of the proleague. They signed Nada a huge contract just as he stopped winning individual leagues.
This is the fault of the management, and also the players who had 10 times better conditions to practice than any other team and still they produced no results.

Most SC2 top pros were B-team members or A-team scrubs. Do you have any idea how much even Baby would smash the competition within 6 months of training?
BW skills don't transfer to SC2 1-to-1 like that. Iron was way better than Zergbong, but MC is second banana to Nestea. Losira and MMA never played televised games, but they totally outclass, say, Sangho. Thorzain was a War3 player, and beat MC in a bo5 with macro games. Huk is consistently in Code S (and reportedly making six figures), and he never played a game competitively before. Obviously, being a former BW pro give advantages, but being a good BW pro no longer automatically makes you better at SC2 than a good SC2 pro.
Anyway, no A-team player will ever switch to SC2, unless they have personal reasons (like they want to go overseas, where BW isn't an option). The biggest name to switch in the last 6 months is friggen Tossgirl. No one who switches will be anyone a normal BW fan will have heard of.
I don't know if she perm switched but she is playing in an SC2 tourney in china host by LG. OGN will be casting =]
I was under the impression that if a BW player played SC2 in view of a Korean person, KeSPA got severely pissed, and would revoke the player's license. I don't know if they're more chill about this now, though.
This sucks.. unfortunately at least to my knowledge no one on the we made fox team has won any major championships.. that could have been incentive to keep them around instead of being dropped..
-On a lighter note tho i hope that all the players can find new teams and continue to play in E-SPorts
A new WeMade + MBC team would be pretty good. They would have the 1-2 punch of Sea and Baby (like old MBC's Sea and Light) plus strong backups in Jaehoon, Mind, and Roro.

Edit: Still sad that they disband
I was about to support this notion if WeMade had to disband, but then I remembered Oov was leaving.. I always think about how amazing Baby would've been under Oov's tutelage.

Actually I believe that only one of their current players won something, and that was Mind's MSL.
At least in 2 days we get proper news, with some proper resolution/further action, and we're not stuck in this awful limbo any more, like at the end of every season...

A Fomos article mentioned that Kespa has the month of September to find a solution for these teams so we might not hear anything on 1st September.
It is not crazy to think that bw pros have tried SC2 in one form or the other. They are on the computer all day long and curiosity/boredom will set in and they will give it a whirl, if nothing to check out the storyline ! lol
Im sure that the progamers have tried SC2 one way or another. In Old Boy, they were joking about SC2 and Flash said something like "Ah, that game sucks." (not being offensive here but that's what my memories told me)

I don't remember that at all. Can you tell me what episode this was in?

It was when Nal_ra and Flash met. And they were playing against each other.

He was probably just unhappy that playing all that SCII caused him to lose that first game. :p

Pretty sure that was someone else. I doubt Flash said anything like that because I remember reading at a later point, that he hasn't even tried SC2.

That never happened, SC2 was not released when Old Boy occurred, especially the Nal Ra vs Flash games

Umm...beta?
Even then, I watched Old Boy recently and there was literally no mention of SC2
There was mention of Kang Min loving his ducks and confusing a heron but no mention of SC2

you're right, episode 12
Yeah. Nal_ra was complaining about repair and how Protoss should have something similar lol.

There's still SKT, KT, Woongjin, ACE, Khan, STX, and CJ. No idea what's happening to Fox/Oz/MBC at this point. Does anyone have any updates regarding what's going on with the players at this point?

Realizing that none of them were close to making the semis makes it even sadder -.-
There has to be at least 8 teams by the end of september. Suppose that the best players of fox, hero, and oz combine - then there should be at least one sponsor that's willing to sponsor such a powerhouse.
The way I see it, the only way for BW to survive is to downsize and go back to its pioneering days. This also means the top guys and everyone else will have to take a pay cut. I know it won't happen but Flash, Jaedong, Bisu and all the superstars should do for all of BW what Xellos did for CJ otherwise there won't be anyone left for them to compete against very soon. I could see Khan and STX disbanding too if their sponsors get tired of the fact that their teams can't compete with T1 and KT and don't have a sense of owner's pride.
Don't get me wrong, competitive BW will be played for a long time yet. I just hope its broadcasted.

Sucks to be clueless, eh?
And you you are a random internet tough guy. :p
Anyway. I'm surprised there hasn't been an update on the situation... :[

Killer was two typed letters or one sunken away from the semis ._.

The additional irony being that if he HAD made it to semis, there would have been a chance that the company reconsider...

Pretty much the same situation as for spanish football league la liga. But im pretty sure nothing will change as there are always people who dont want to loose some of their power even if its needed
