Not quite. Due to internet issues, IPL is suffering extensive downtime. To fill time, the players start to play some exhibition matches on BW. Thank god for LAN!
|
Was hoping someone would post this, HuK vs BoxeR is going to be sickkkkk.
|
I hope they release some vods of boxer stomping people, because I can't watch this live.
|
I"m gonna be watching this and Gambit cup at the same time.
|
awww, they had it on bally's but took it off ((
|
Haha, awesome! :D
Lolol, Huk BMing Boxer. XD
|
|
|
I hope that bites him in the ass in the re-game.
Go Emperor!
|
|
There was actually 3 games of Huk vs TT1 if you wanna update the first post. They split the first 2 games.
|
I hope BoxeR crushes HuK after the BM =D
|
SC2 is nice and all, but I have to say this is way more exciting than the actual tournament games. :D

Nah I didn't recognize the maps but Huk took the first game as Protoss vs TT1 as Terran, then they switched races, Huk as Terran lost to TT1 as Protoss. Then the third game they went PvP and TT1 won.

Man, the stream always gets stuck.
And the idiots in the chat keep bashing on CaucasianAsian.

I don't think Huk every played BW competitively, but his dragoon micro's not bad.

Sticky stream is quite sticky. I had to switch to a different stream and back again and it's usually fine.

rofl how did huk beat boxer
|
I just arrived from a trip and came to see if there's anything going on, and there is HUK VS BOXER IN BROOD WAR CASTED BY RAELCUN?!?!?!?!?!?
I'm ready to spend my life travelling just to come home if that's what I'll get.
|
|
New development, SlayersJessica arrived and covered HuK's eyes for a bit. xD
|
why is huk beating boxer at bw
|
|
This game is really terrible compared to BW pros, but it's still good fun to watch.
Love to see Boxer literally winning a game with two dropships. :D Vintage Emperor right there.

he isn't but Boxer did have some bad positioning

Gotta love how it's actually possible to lose a big engagement and not end up insta-losing the game in BW.
Too bad it's over.
|
Recorded Game 2, should I upload it?
|
No Bo3. :[ Hopefully they'll be able to pick up the match at a later date. Though I think once Boxer warmed up, he could just steam roll him in the 3rd match.
|
as soon as I tune in, it goes off and is switching back to sc2. I'm mad. D:

Spoiler the results!
... it was kind of saddening to see how boxer almost got smashed even in game 2 though. </3

You forgot the results of the 3rd game

Oh wow korean netizens will have fun with that one

Someone should make a battle-report, or upload VODs if possible. I'll be very thankful for either.
I couldn't watch because I'm at school right now. I was very tempted to just screw it and start up the stream on one of the library computers, though. :p

Game 2 of Huk vs BoxeR was pretty awesome.
Huk getting his eyes covered by SlayerS_Jessica, then blindly going for a mid-game push that almost killed BoxeR. However, BoxeR managed to hold on, and did some classic Dropship harass that crippled Huk long enough for BoxeR to get an advantage that he rode into an end-game victory despite some Arbiter shenanigans. There was also a nice Spider Mine detonation on some Probes during BoxeR's comeback.

He lost a game. Apparently it was a hotkey issue and he didn't make a tank on time because the hotkey's weren't the same so Huk's 10/15 did a ton of damage.

Well, that and and he 12-15'd on longinus of all maps, and that's ridiculously strong on that map

Technically, this only happened because SC2 didn't have LAN. Technically, Blizzard's reluctance to add LAN to SC2 temporarily brought to light during one of the major SC2 tournaments of the years. And technically, all of this was only made possible because a truck hit the main internet line knocking out all Comcast service in Atlantic City.
Also, who hand Brood War on hand for an impromptu tournament? Do people walk around with BW on flash drives stuck into holsters for emergency LANs?

While I completely agree with you on the LAN issue, I don't think having LAN would have solved the specific problems IPL encountered today. The entire facilities' (and the surrounding area if I read it correctly) internet was down due to a freak accident; the IPL still would not have been able to broadcast the matches, even if they had been able to be played without an internet connection.

Well, there's always the possibility of playing the games and just rebroadcasting them at a later stage I guess. At least better than not letting the players play and just using random seeding (not saying that it was IPL's fault, they couldn't do anything about the situation and I think the way they handled it was pretty stellar).

No, they could broadcast due to some improvised internet connection (maybe over the mobile network?), but the latency was too high and it was not possible to play on battlenet. so if there were lan, then everything that would have happened is the stream quality going down due to that improvised way of streaming, nothing more.

That was after some sick defense from Boxer. The spontaneity of this happening and HuK's shit-talk made this event a lot of fun to witness.

Pretty fun event to watch haha
I was having my 10/15 imba qualms on longinus :D
I think this should be another pointer at Blizzard to make LAN available. However they want to keep their tight noose grip on everything in the scene, so I guess we'll have to wait until someone can emulate the entire server structure.

They never said they would allow LAN. For the reason that about 1 month after you give it to any tournament it will be spread to everyone. Perhaps 4 years after Legacy of the Void you might see LAN.
