Yeah If that doesnt work well Blizzard can always slip a few benjamins into his pocket I think Jaedong gets huge enough crowds when he reaches an OSL/MSL/PL finals, and I doubt any team is able to pay him over 200k a year Im pretty sure Blizzard has alot of money. They shud make their own team :D. But Jaedong alrdy said he wanted to switch to SC2 cause he wants other people then just Koreans see his games. HE wants to play SC2 because its Global.
Yes but he also said his dream is to reach the playoffs with Ace. One of these things will not happen

If jaedong ever switches to sc2, my life is complete

Public apology from blizzard for trying to sue them out of a career perhaps.

Awesome they're flying them out to the states :D

It would be funny if Bisu, Jaedong, Jangbi, and Fantasy went to Blizzcon but played no public matches at all, neither BW nor SC2. It would be even more hilarious if it turns out that they were invited for Diablo 3, publicly showcasing the best 4-player multiplayer team ever assembled for Diablo.
Jokes aside, perhaps they will be testing out the HotS multiplayer at Blizzcon, with Blizzard getting feedback from them. Seeing how the Korean BW scene is in a lull right now before the start of the next OSL and Proleague season, I'm not surprised that their coaches (minus Jaedong's; RIP Oz) would let them loose for Blizzcon weekend.
I just hope they all stay away from swimming pools.

Nothing seems wrong with fooling around a bit with SC2 by these top-class players to me. It probably will happen anyway that they will be playing some SC2, but most likely BW showmatches as well. Too bad I will probably be missing most of Blizzcon 2011, as I will not be able to watch it continuously, if at all. Blizzard inviting such high caliber BW players to Blizzcon is certainly a good move from their part, and I cannot wait to see what addition they will bring to the event.

The only source is an interview that Jaedong gave at the very beginning of SC2's tenure (may have been during the beta, I forget and I'm too lazy to look it up, but it's in a thread in the SC2 forum) and it's been brought up an incredible amount of times whenever there's anything said about Jaedong.
Personally, I believe he only gave those answers to appease the hungry SC2 fans out there that desperately want a top BW progamer to make the switch, hence, why so many people frequently cite that interview.

Damn, I want to meet Bisu! Stupid living across the country preventing me from going to blizzcon.

Yup...no Flash to save them this time O.o

Blizzard putting them on a plane so they can blow it out of the sky and end BW forever? How evil

I agree 100%....
But its stupid arguing like this that makes me think the word"e-sports" is a bunch of shit. All people seem to care about is SC:BW or SC2 etc.. and fuck any other game (League of Legends, Street Fighter, Halo). It kinda makes me a little sad because i think e-sports has great potential but its this "my game is better then yours" attitude that people have that will make sure e-sports will never grow past what it is now.
Bisu, Jaedong, Jangbi and Fantasy going to Blizzcon is great news and im looking forward to seeing what ever it is they are going to do there, even if all they are doing is showing up. :D

I'm really jealous now that I can't go to Blizzcon. Like I play StarCraft 2 and don't even follow BW much, but seeing legends like that would be crazy. Fantasy has always been my favorite player to watch in BW, and seeing him play against players like that would be amazing (his finals vs JangBi were so good, even though he didn't win).

Man, Brood War fans are paranoid. Of course they're there to play Brood War, why would you get some of the greatest players alive to play a game they have no experience with? They might do it for fun, but that's not why they were invited. I'm glad they're bringing Brood War though, I was disappointed they couldn't hold one last year, what with KeSPA boycotting them and non-Korean players having switched over to StarCraft II.
Also, Blizzard doesn't benefit in any way from Brood War dying. People who love Brood War already know about StarCraft II, if they aren't playing it, then killing the game they do love will certainly not entice them to switch over. More likely it'll actually make them actively avoid it out of hatred. Meanwhile, living Brood War's popularity can bring more buyers to Blizzard's games.
I just hope they don't pout Bisu and Jangbi on the same side of the bracket, if a bracket is involved.

Okay...read some of the other comments. Surprised to see a lack of the word epic, also suprised to see a lot of the word rage.
It is good to note that Bw fans are just as silly as Sc2 fans when it comes to their idols. Who sees news like this and their first thought is "Blizzard is going to force them to play a different computer game against their will".
Because Brood War pros aren't allowed to play other computer games for fun? I agree with the people who suggest that they may play some show matches in both games because they might just like both. If you play Call of Duty for 11 years and then Battlefield comes out, I think you'd try that before some completely different other game.
Anyway I'll be looking for some blogs detailing blizzcon experiences, anyone up for it?

I know they'll be there to play Brood War, but the SC2 love in me hopes they get to witness how crazy they fans go for the Starcraft 2 gamers here in America. It'll be a nice glimpse into the future for them.

despite some mild concerns this thread is largely tame
don't understand where all of this "BW FANS ARE SCARED OF SC2" claims come from
let's read the first couple pages of the thread shall we?

Blizzcon is gonna be amazzingg
