When people say 'dont let the opinions of the vocal minority reflect the views of everyone', they are talking about you especially since the most successful of each game (flash and Zergbong) made roughly equal amounts of money this past year, (zergbong making almost half a million) I think it's important to differentiate between prize winnings, and a high salary, the latter being more reliable of course.
But that doesn't take away that the original comment was pretty bizzare, and misguided. Of course SC2 progamers are genuine pros.
The argument throughout this thread has gone on waaaay too long 0.o I'm just awaiting further news on what they're gonna be doing out at blizzcon. I have to say, I think the only way to please both SC2 and BW fans at this stage is to have BW showmatches. I think even people who aren't fans of the game could really enjoy that.

When people say 'dont let the opinions of the vocal minority reflect the views of everyone', they are talking about you Well, is there? Because I'd be happy to know there are payed professional gamers in SC2 that has the support of companies and is being showed and accepted in and by the public as professionals. Look at how Korea is so proud about Flash in that video about exceptional korean citizens. I am merely stating the difference between them. But hey, these are opinions, like the rest of the people here who post about their far-fetched ideas and theories like how JD will be joining EG. Could EG even support the current salary of JD which is over atleast 150k? Are you serious? He's right, this is the kind of elitist bullshit people are talking about. And yes, EG could, and does, have six figure players. They have very serious sponsors. I've read this entire thread, and a LARGE majority of the hateful, elitist, snarky comments have come from BW fans. Most of the SC2 people I've seen in here have been reasonably respectful. Sure there's been some flamebait, but a majority of the hostility has been crap like this from BW fans. Also, I'm not quite sure which thread you're reading. Not wishing to be offensive, but really. You also have to consider the statistics. For every horrible "I hope BW dies" comment, you will get 15 or so responses saying what an arse they are (which is true). It creates a visible unbalance, which can be solved with closer examination.

That is why I'm asking .. You can call it whatever you want. You may find this 'elitist' but I'm far from it. I just want to know if these theories are either baseless or does carry some weight because people from SC2 fanbase have been posting it since the thread started and many of us here are like 'What?".
Also, I may have a reason why you think BW fans are defensive about this.
Because it's in the BW section and SC2 people are rampaging posting stuff some of us couldn't care less.
If this was in the SC2 thread, you would have less BW fans spewing what you call "crap".

Go to a warcraft forum and make comments about how their best players should switch to sc2. It's entirely off topic and irritating as shit for people trying to discuss warcraft. It's equally irritating for BW players/fans trying to discuss BW( especially considering how illogical and improbable the switch is). If we wanted to talk about sc2 we would post in the designated subforum.
Also, pretty mindblowing how the majority of posts in here are from BW fans? Crazy, one might even surmise that Jaedong, Bisu, and Fantasy are BW related or something..naturally there is going to be an unbalanced amount of posters. Of course both 'sides' should chill out, though I think it's fair to say everyone who plays BW has played SC2 at some point and has probably played RTS games for much longer and I seriously doubt that goes both ways.

people are already hostile and raging in this thread for no other reason than these players attending blizzcon. imagine what will happen with this thread if they so much as look at the login screen of sc2.
seriously people, just be happy these guys are going to blizzcon and will hopefully put on a good show regardless of game.

Until teams start releasing the details of players' contracts I don't see how you can claim any player on EG, let alone multiple, make "six figures." All I have heard on the subject is Huk is making close to the top of any SC2 progamer? What does that even mean when teams withhold the information of these contracts? Absolutely nothing.
BW fans have every reason to be angry when sc2fan121 comes in to a thread about BW PLAYERS that mean EVERYTHING to this game and says crap like "i hop theze playerz switch and this ugly old gam diez" ad nauseam. The reactions you seem to be so against are the same you would find on any other community. As passionate people what else do you expect?

Personally, I really want to see BW showmatches, although I wouldn't mind seeing them play a couple games of SC2 for our entertainment on the side.

i would also like to see a flash/jaedong/kal swimming showmatch.

Ad nauseam? I've seen it said maybe a handful of times in a 49 page thread, almost always as a troll response to "SC2 takes no skill herpa derpa" comments. Go look at the first page of the thread, it's full of "I hope they aren't going to play SC2, because that games is crap" type posts. 90% of the posts from SC2 people in here have been "I like both games, I'd love to see them play both" style stuff. Yet, you talk about how we're in here hoping BW dies "ad nauseam".
Half the trolls this thread gets are because of the explosive, volatile, reactions you guys give. Passionate is one thing, aggressively defensive whenever someone even breaths the name of your game of choices successor is another. Complete ignorance about the SC2 scene and then snarky comments about SC2 pros not really being pros is also pretty big troll bait.
If I didn't know better, I'd almost think you guys did it on purpose, because dog piling on the trolls gives you something to rally around as a BW community. If that's the case, so be it, but then don't sit and complain that the very trolls you're baiting are here, in a thread that has quite a bit of possible relevance to legitimate SC2 fans.

A word to SC2 fans, I am pretty sure that some of you people don't really understand the depth of the Brood War either in gameplay or the history behind it and only have the perception those 4 pwns at video game. You fans are probably anticipating that they will bring something new to the table and really wishes that they would switch. Those, I totally get it from your POVs. But you also have to understand that this news is originally from BW's general thread, it is sort of expected to get shit on if one come to another person's lair and spread BM that their passion is dying.
Truthfully, I want to build a time machine to go back to the time when I surfed on TL seeing everyone in harmony. I just hope that one day TL.net could come in term with each other and watch MLP <3

Very cool that blizzard is bringing these players in, I'll be happy to watch them no matter what game they play. I respect why bw posters are so passionate and defensive but it is very similar to listening to grandparents wonder why you want them to get an email account when the postal service delivers letters just fine.

You know what? Blizzard indeed should put SC2 showmatch and destroy Bisu and co. so bad that people no longer care what happens to BW pros. Most realpolitik solution ever.

I hope they play some showmatches in either BW or SC2. I think it would be really cool to mix players from both games, 1v1 bw vs sc2 pro in bw/sc2 or maybe a 2v2.
And yeah, I'd be very happy if any of these pros switch to SC2 because they're really good and that would be awesome for all SC2 fans.

Only the ones who think that SCII takes no skill would be affected by that. I mean seriously, it would be like making them play CS 1.6 against the best counter strike team in the world or something. Even people like JD and co. would need some acclimatization to play pro level SCII.
Playing for fun is a different matter, but would Blizzard ship them all that way just for that? I wouldn't know, never been filthy rich.

if i was a broodwar pro, there's no way i'd agree to a showmatch between SC2 players. who wants to fly across the world to get embarrassed like that?
they're bringing 4 players, which is enough to put on a decent BW event. hopefully it happens.
