I'm not a die hard BroodWar fan. My experience is not as good as yours, but I wanna give some hype for this Season. Because so many bad things have happened for broodwar..
I haven't watched every match from last season, but I know every players in bw, and their capacity.
I love all the players in this team, and I feel like they are gonna dominate this season. This season, all the teams has strong roster, but this team in particular is giving me another feeling!
My Reasons why Team KeSPA will win 2011-2012 Proleague!
Hunger: All the players from this team pretty much have done nothing in the previous season. This new team give amazing opportunity for winning proleague. Especially when you have hungry&strong players like Sea&Jaedong. Also the young bloods of this team has been amazing motivation for winning this season!
The Aces
Jaedong Lee Jae Dong is one of the TBLS member, and the best zerg player in the world. You cannot deny this. Okay i agree, last season Jaedong ZvZ was shaky, but he is still most well-rounded player in this team. Last season Jaedong played 2x semi final at individual leagues. Sadly losing 3-2 to Hydra in PDPOP MSL and to ZerO 3-1 in ABCMart MSL. Also out of OSL in group stages, because of his shaky ZvZ. But Jaedong never give up and kept tearing up WL&Proleague instead of individual leagues. Jaedong finished in #3 place in the Proleague rankings with 48-22 wins and losses(68.6%) stats. Also this team gives amazing practice partners for Jaedong's ZvP and ZvT. Jaedong is already practicing ZvZ with Killer. His ZvP partners was pretty bad in the old team(PerfectMan,sHy,Dear). But in team KeSPA, Jaedong have MBC protosses Jaehoon and Tyson. At least they are known as decent protoss players! For ZvT Jaedong is getting Sea and BaBy instead of HiyA/Bee. Both better than HiyA/Bee and has pretty amazing ZvT.
Overall this team better for Jaedong. Flash better be afraid because of Jaedong's new practice partners.
The Tyrant will rise again with this team. in Jaedong We Trust!
Sea was ace player of the MBCGame Heroes. Sea is a well-rounded player and totally a Proleague hero. His individual league results is not impressive, but every season he is in top 10 in Proleague rankings. In this Season, Sea finished rank #6 with 42-30 (58.3%) stats. He is the trump card for this team. I mean every opponent in this league will be expecting Jaedong for ace and will try to snipe him, then Coach Ju Hoon activate his trump card Sea and BAM!
I hope this team will help Sea for individual tournaments, this guy deserve a starleague title..
BaBy was ace/trump card of WeMadeFOX. BaBy knowns for his amazing ZvT and multitask skills. Also in the past BaBy have amazing matches with his new teammate Jaedong. He has pretty decent TvT and TvP, but like i said TvZ is BaBy's best match up. BaBy finished in #10 place in the Proleague season with 35-26 (57.4%) stats. Maybe Coach Ju Hoon will use BaBy as a TvZ ace, who know...
Killer was #2 zerg of Hwaseung OZ! The Mini-Dong finished the last Proleague season with 33 wins - 27 losses (54.24%) stats. Also played quarter final at OSL. Last Season Killer improved so much, especially his ZvZ becomes pretty sick, also Killer has decent ZvP..Maybe Coach Ju Hoon will use Killer for ZvZ sniping, who know...
The captain of MBCGame Heroes! He improved so much, soooooo much. Finished this Proleague season with 30 wins - 23 losses (56.6%) stats. I hope he will keep improving and becoming great captain for this team.
Well..Tyson is pretty decent protoss player. He showed impressive performance from last season, finishing the season with 29 wins - 24 losses (54.00%) stats. MBC protosses totally fitting this line up.
I hope that this team will give good opportunities for MBC protosses and they get better record for this Season.
Practice Bonjwas Speed is known as practice Bonjwa! You can see him in Jaedong interviews. Also Sang and Ryul2 must be another practice bonjwas, because KeSPA know their jobs!
I totally believe in this team, because all the players in this team are deserving of a Proleague title.
PROLEAGUE 2011-2012 TEAM KESPA IS COMING FOR THE GOLD!!!!!
Like i said, I have not followed BW all season. I feel like I'm missing a lot of details, feel free to send me PM with correct phrases. I'm sorry again for missing/wrong information.
Man Jaedong with practice partners such as Sea and Baby...his ZvT is gonna be so unreal o_O. Down side is we won't get to see Jaedong vs Baby in proleague anymore :< they had some fucking epic matches
I agree, they should have a great motivation. You really think this is going to help sea in individual titles ? Hah First hype post not for KT,SKT,CJ or ..... STX - what a strange thing.

A slumping Tyrant, two Terrans you can't quite list as "best Terrans", a wildly erratic (and adorable) Zerg and two okay Protoss all mashed together at the last second.
For some reason, I don't see them beating KT or SKT...
On the bright side, Killer's only weakness is KeSPA, and now that he's aligned forces with them, he will be completely and utterly unstoppable!

Eh? Have you seen JvT last season
His TvT(tyrant vs terran) last season reached height where no man, ahem zerg, had gone. He infested everyone there was to infest. No one escaped his brutal spree of terran annihilation, no one.
Team Kespa is looking really solid in terms of their front line, but lacking in practice partners. This is really going to hurt their ability to prep for specific matchups or playstyles, so they're going to have to rely on Jaedong and Sea being solid.

I don't consider Jaedong excelling in merely just one matchup to be him on form. I've much higher expectations than that.

but i don't really remember the last time Jaedong was godly in all 3 matchup.
there was a time when his zvz and zvp were godly but he struggled in zvt.
then suddenly last season, his zvt became godly while his zvz slumped hard, and his zvp level dropped a little too. that's why many people joked that Jaedong had sold his soul to the devil in return for zvt skills because at least in 2010, the only thing in his way to multiple titles was zvt s against flash.
ironically, in 2011, the main thing in his way to multiple titles was zvz since he lost both msl semi's to zvzs and also the osl group stages.

Team KeSPA will win it! Nice write up. The true form and power of BaBy shall emerge with a team that motivates each other to do better properly. This team will own and it will be awesome to witness.
I sure hope it isnt called "Team KESPA". I find it odd that they would have made this announcement without saying who the sponsor is....If they have decided on a sponsor, not advertising it sort of defeats the purpose in the eyes of the sponsor....if they don't have a sponsor, isn't this counting ones chickens before they have hatched. The only other thing I can think of is that Kespa decided to put together an awesome team hoping that that would convince a sponsor based on that fact.

Cant help but agree with this post, which has _truth_ written all over it.
I might decide to pray for your success at winning the 2nd place though.
If this new team wins the next proleague chamionship that could be the spark the industry needs to keep going for a number of years..... At least that's what I'm hoping anyway. As much as everybody hates KeSpa, it's awesome that they are doing this and I have no doubt that a sponsor will come forward to support this new team in the near future.
On November 05 2011 04:29 Condor Hero wrote: eh im not too worried about this. Bisu or Flash will still hard counter the whole lineup.
Except for the KeSPA part of the lineup where you can't send the same player out twice.
You have your zerg horsemen backwards. Killer should be pestilence and famine because his fail games will ruin everything. Then JD should be Death because he will pick up Killer's slack :D
TBH this team should steamroll through semi-mid season, and plow through last season. I think that the players won't be comfortable in their new living arrangements and will have a tough time gaining friendships and a team spirit at first, but once they get rolling they have nothing to lose. This team will be pretty much the most stable team in PL, they will have 4 really solid players (JD, Sea, Killer, Baby), and some good back up. I think they will be hungry to prove themselves, as they were just on the verge of being unemployed, they should be an amazing team. I expect great things once the season progresses.
I don't care what you say...if teams are still forced to put out one of each race every match, then they are guaranteed to lose at least one set every time. Jaehoon and Tyson are...Jaehoon and Tyson. Sigh.
Eh, I could see them doing it, but SKT and KT are the favorites BY FAR.
It's a nice line-up though, Sea is beyond solid in PL, Baby has a lot of talent and some really nice TvZ, Killer has been doing really well and is looking amazing in ZvZ, Jaehoon has been hyped a lot and is finally starting to deliver, and JD is... JD.
They definitely have a really nice roster at the very least.

Sigh...How can you say that.
Jaehoon - 30 win 23 lose 56.6%
Tyson - 29 win 24 lose 54%
They played pretty decent in 10-11 season. Now,they are in better team and has better practice partners.
Okay, they are not Stork,Bisu or JangBi but still decent players.Last season Tyson managed to beat Flash in ace match.Thats great achivement for a decent player.
Jaedong - baby - sea should do very well, and then throw in a coin flip player in there and you have a post season recipe. Don't know how much depth hey have though. Btw, is the new PL season still Bo7s?
You guys should stop bashing Jaehoon, he's a very interesting player lol. He provides hilarious noob mistakes but still manages to win the game lol. I remember one PvZ where the zerg attacked his base and he brought whole army to completely destroy the zerg army except... one zergling lol. The zergling was attacking the Nexus (still have many hit points), Jaehoon left some zealots to defend the base but they never kill the zergling, so 1 minutes later the Nexus was down and the ling sitting there right next to the zealots I laugh so hard but despite that Jaehoon still won lol.

Clearly you didnt pay attention to bw last season. Jd's tvz is god tier currently and he dominated flash last season. Jd's pvz used to be god tier and he can that back whenever he decides to practice it.

What's scary about this team is JD no longer have to do everything. He actually has a very, VERY good supporting team members that can win on there own. That's why this is so scary. We have always wondered what will happen if JD has a team he can rely on. This is it.
They have an ex SKT Head Coach that won titles not to mention. This team is dead scary.
Oz disbanding may have come as a shock but for several months, Fox and MBC players knew about the possibility of their teams disbanding. Hopefully with a more positive training environment, not to mention higher salaries and better living conditions (for the MBC guys), they will perform even better in the upcoming season.
On November 05 2011 09:01 dRaW wrote: good team but still cj is strongest on paper by far. I think at least with this new team jaedong can get into the playoffs for a change
I would agree CJ has the best all around team from top to bottom. None of that matters in PL because its ace match setup rewards teams with a true #1 ace player with solid supporting cast. Look at the two best PL teams in recent history skt and kt. Both have true ace players with great supporting cast. Even Oz a few years back nearly won PL because of JD alone. Its a star player driven league and its also why stx tried pretty hard to get JD back when he was FA even though they arguably had a stacked team with a solid zerg lineup.
I would rank it skt, kt, team 8 in that order for this upcoming season. Team 8 has a very good chance to win it this year if JD can fix his zvz.
@Ryo hey where is that place ,seriously I wish I can got to korea , everything at there sounds more optimistic that the situation , I am having here in malaysia .
I think this team has a serious chance.. Jaedong always needed some pressure off his shoulders; now he has a chance to be more effectively used in Proleague (like how Bisu is) rather than being totally predictable. Here's a little bit of thought as to how it will affect player choice;
I think Jaedong's ZvP is probably his best matchup like other Zergs, but the funny thing is he almost never plays it hence it always seems rusty. I think out of the players who play every game, his ZvP is probably one of the least played matchups... and when he does play it, you can see the other team usually intended for it (ie: it's either Bisu or someone with a planned build). Now imagine his PL stats if he can be positioned to face many weaker P's in the manner that Bisu get's so many PvZ's.. just for comparison Bisu played 21 of them, compared to Jaedong's only 10. The SKT1 coaches were smart enough to manage to get 21 games on his best matchup compared to only 10 each vT and vP.
If Jaedong's team manages to get him used like that he will be amazingly well. They now have BaBy and Sea to be able to discourage vZ snipers; previously, it didn't matter if teams sent out zergs to try and ZvZ because Oz didn't have anyone else dangerous if they guessed the wrong map. Now they got the ability to be a vZ powerhouse, and use the strengths of each player to their best; Sea/BaBy are very versatile and JD can be used to try and target a weak playe; JD will no longer be the targeted player he will be used to target, it's a scary prospect.
It's going to be very interesting how this plays out.
This won't happen. I have a feeling, that because of this Kespa messing around, Guys didn't practice at all. So don't expect much even from a quite solid lineup. In fact I think they won't perform well at all for some time.

I'm just wondering, is there any specific reason why you would only practice with people in your team? They are going to practice with each other in a team, but will they do that all the time? Can't they practice with someone outside of their team?
For instance, I have seen both Memory and Nada pull off a fake fake double (which glass is the wine in, mr sicilian?) Hiding the 2nd factory, with the 1 tank+5 marines-> vult w/ mines looking like it's going to be a 1 fact expand, when in reality it is going to be more like a Joyo.
If you practiced a bunch with people who were also friends w/ the person you're going to be playing, you could be meta-gamed differently. It would be less like "Well, Nada likes to feign a move out and expand behind it" which made it a great play, or Memory proxying his 2nd factory vs Bisu at 12 oclock, and more like "he was practicing faking this in practice games". You don't want that.
the change in practice partners won't change much. I mean look at the evidence.
jaedong ALWAYS had shitty practice partners for all MUs, yet he has been the best zerg player around for 4 years now.
every time a big player trade happens, people always hype it up like "omg now action is on KT he will have the best zvt ever!" but it never actually changes much. you also got things like when FBH was on KHAN: He had the 2 best PvTers EVER to practice with but his TvP always sorta sucked (and then he went to ACE and his TvP got good WTF). the biggest change will probably just be in team atmosphere, as all 3 ace players (sea/baby/jaedong) no longer have such a huge burden on them to perform well in PL, which should lead to better results.

Itaewon, Yongsan.
Here's another picture taken by Tyson, this time of Coach Han. There's no doubt that these people get along well.
I like the players in the team, but it just seem so cheap for KeSPA to assemble a dream team on equal or higher tier than KT, CJ and SKT, while Khan, STX and Woongjin pretty much got shafted again. KeSPA wants the hype of a dream team, but they need to look at their competition and examine how sustainable it is when 5 team disbanded in the last five years, all of which were underperforming teams like ... Khan, STX and Woongjin (gasp).
Sorry guys, I fucking hate KeSPA (even though it doesn't matter since they control BW ~.~)
I hate to say this, but i think this new team really are the favorites for the proleague this time. even though they haven't been together for long, i think they will perform really well. but KT are the champs and they will be even stronger this time with the additions of mind and wooki. also CJ has effort returning from retirement. overall this could be the best and most exciting proleague season ever... can't wait for the games to begin.

You also have to think about this: In order to get a new sponsor for this team, it needs to be successful and attractive. Like you yourself asked, who would want to sponsor an underperforming team? They're just doing whatever they can to make sure an 8-team league can happen (which is something that benefits all the teams by maintaining interest in BW itself).
And nobody got shafted. It's not KeSPA's responsibility to make sure teams are balanced. It's not like they're going to go, "oh look, STX hasn't been doing well this year, let's give them Sea because we don't want them to disband." Teams get who they can afford. If any of the other teams were willing to dish out 200 grand a year for Jaedong, they could have done it in 09 when he was FA. All of the other players who weren't on reserve (and there were quite a few decent ones) were open to all the teams to bid on. This just means that those teams weren't willing to spend money on those players, and that has nothing to do with KeSPA as a whole, but only the sponsors individually.

idk, all 3 of those teams made play-offs last year and with the exception of possibly STX, none of them got any weaker. If you don't spend as much as SKT or KT surely your expectations aren't as high and so I wouldn't say they are underperforming.
The teams that disbanded all had their own reasons and not all of them were due to performance

you can practice players from different teams, but the real practice partners is your teammates. You need help from your teammates, they need help from you.Maybe you can play 5-10 games against player from another team, but when you practicing with your teammate, you can explain his mistakes, person to person practice is always better.

This team is basically Oz 2.0. Jaedong, Killer, sea and baby are upgraded lomo and hiya, and protoss players that you don't expect to win but will probably win more than PerfectMan
Team 8 is going to be damn scary, no matter what format PL will take. The other teams at most can boast perhaps three A-class players, but depending on how you look at things, Team 8 has five or six.
Team 8 has a good amount of strength distributed over all three races, so no matter what kind of bias the new maps introduce, they should be well equipped to handle them and will also be well-positioned to exploit any imbalanced maps that appear.
Not mentioned in the OP but the coach is legendary. And...he's returning to the scene after ignominiously being given the boot from SK telecom T1 some time ago. If my judgement of his character from his old interviews and behavior is accurate, he'll be hungry to prove himself and his expertise once again. He's also had time to reflect on his past mistakes and his successes, and I expect him to return even stronger.
If PL comes back in a Bo7 format and I end up allowing myself to watch a match or two, I'll be watching this team's matches. Unlike other teams who have to field mediocre players for some of their sets, we'll see strength in the booth for every game.

What's wrong fielding your home grown(mediocre) players when your best players starts to leave your team and retire ?
From the team point of view nothing. From the spectator point of view mediocre players produce mediocre games.
