If I'm not wrong, this gymnasium is home to the Seoul SK Knights Basketball team.
Proleague Awards
At the Media Day event, which was attended by all teams who qualified for the play-offs, Kespa also presented several awards to Starcraft and Special Force coaches and players.
For Starcraft, STX Soul's Dear received the best rookie award for Season 1. Although his former Hwaseung Oz teammate, sHy won 1 more game than him during the season, Dear had a far better win-loss ratio.
Flash received two awards, one for having the most wins in the season and the second for being this season's MVP. This is the 3rd time that Flash has won both awards simultaneously, setting a new record. He was previously tied with Jaedong and Nal_rA, who have won both awards simultaneously on 2 occasions.
Lastly, Coach Park Yong Woon of T1 received the award for best coach, having led SKT to 4 consecutive Proleague finals.

nice face, january.
Another cost-cutting measure I suspect, since PL is sponsored by SK and Jamsil Stadium is home to one of their basketball teams.
Stork was saying something like "after not having qualified for the play-offs for some years and just reading about media day in the news, it's nice to be present on site", so January face-palmed.

Uh...Dear only played and won, one match-up and if he played the other mu's he lost. Shy played all mu's. I seriously don't understand where the logic lies in giving Dear the award. The only thing I could see was giving Flash his first loss.

Shy was way too inconsistent, especially in - as much as I hate this word - "clutch" situations.
I feel bad for Stats. Every team had their star players (Best/Fantasy/Bisu, Leta/Effort, Jangbi/Stork) and they wanted Reach for the picture instead of him.

Reach is the KT captain. Teams usually bring their captain and Ace player to these media day events. Coach Park just didn't bring s2.

That's how the team has been keeping their sponsor for so long ! I mean just thinking of this just makes me want to buy a Galaxy Tab.
I recently got a Samsung phone because of Stork, haha.
Me too BW is sers business.
I feel that Samsung should seriously consider their financial statements (for phones and electronics obviously) after they started sponsoring eSports to see if their advertisements are working.
They can probably only use 2/3 of the seats in the gymnasium, assuming that they aren't going to set up directly in the center.
There hasn't been a 360-degree wrap around for a while, as far as I know. Look at best vs july which seemed to be a bigger venue (granted that was OSL) and they only do a horsehoe around the main screen.
Oh wow, I was so focused on the venue that I didn't even see OP was saying April 8th. I booked my flight already too and I'm flying back on Sunday evening...but I should be able to change it if necessary.
Thanks a lot for noticing it. We indeed need a confirmation asap.

The calendar on DES has been updated. The PL finals don't appear anymore, neither on 7th nor 8th. Fomos still has it on 7th. wtf.
It's 8th April. The Fomos calendar is not updated and DES doesn't update April's events until we near the end of March. But the news report on Fomos says 8th April. Same as the DES news report.

Weird reschedule, especially if there is another finals the same day at the same venue... I assume the time is maintained ? Thanks a lot for the clarification !

Haha, I hope I get to attend a Proleague/OSL finals before they are gone... I'm still in college so it'd need to be another 3 years, and i have serious doubts Korea can hold me on with BW for that long...
It makes me sad really, I've watched SCBW since what, 9th grade? It's been a dream for me since to attend a finals...
Everyone understands that it's a max of 7500 assuming they're watching a basketball game. If you set up the stage as they normally would, you take out an entire wall of seats. Unless they set up a 4 sided jumbo screen in the middle or have everyone get neck cramps staring at the jumbo screen on the scoreboard, we're looking at around 6000 seats??
But hey, this will be the first time where the proleague finals will include a home team..
On March 15 2012 16:42 seRapH wrote: It can't be any worse than the NATE MSL, right? 7500 seats should be filled ezpz
The last GSL finals had a crowd of ~5,000 (albeit with free admission), and BW remains way way bigger than SC2, so there's no difficulty in filling the seats.
It's such a tiny venue, though, for a Proleague finals. Maybe they're going to raise prices?

That's true, too, though you can kind of make up for that by having seats in the court in front of the stage.
That is going to be an interesting set up wonder how they are going to do the stage/screens/casters etc. Excited for the finals hope to see a lot of people there.
Interesting that Bisu, despite having the worst record out of the three was the one to accept the trophy for Regular Season 1st place. I can understand Fantasy not accepting it because he is younger, but Best is the same age as Bisu. He should have accepted it because in my opinion, he showed a better performance throughout the regular season than Bisu.

I think Bisu is the most famous out of them. And Best did not showed better performance than Bisu. In my opinion they both sucked. But I can understand your point. Best had 12-7? That is somehow fine for him if you want and Bisu had 11-7 what is horrible for him, therefore you might think Best played better. But in fact there is not much of a difference between them this season (in results, and this is what matters).

Yeah I guess in terms of records, they aren't that far off but when I look back, I just remember Best's losses being easier to watch than Bisu's.. Maybe I'm wrong....
if we do plan a gathering. Then I think maybe it would be wise to meet super early and go for lunch first nearby the stadium then after go wait in line. That might be the most wise.
I don't want to make a seperate thread because I don't want people to assume I know anything about where to go and hwo to get there. so someone who knows what their doing should be able to make a thread about it.

Okay. Still no news about the time it starts ? I remember Ryo said that SF PL finals were also that day, at the same venue. In that case coming very early would be kind of silly if there is already an event in the stadium. We would not be able to get seats or even get inside the stadium. Queuing at the doors when the 7500 SF people will leave the stadium does not seem a wise idea either
I'm okay to have lunch and go there together. It will be a good occasion to prepare cheerful signs. Does anyone know if it's easy to get pictures/autographs after the games ? I guess it's much easier at smaller events.

SF finals might be AFTER the SC finals. Most likely to be the case, since they'll be hoping some of the SC fans stay around to catch the SF finals. In the 2009-2010 season, it was like that.
In the pictures posting there are no representatives from Airforce Ace, Woongjin or STX apart from Dear getting the rookie award. It seems unfair not to invite the rest of the teams when a ceremony like this is performed.

It's a post-season media day so only the teams that qualified for post-season attended the event. The other teams are probably on holiday now. And Dear wasn't alone since the STX SF2 team was there and they presented him with some flowers after he received the award.
Edit: The Proleague awards are not the same as the E-sports Awards ceremony held in Dec. There are no nominees for each category. It's just one player receiving an award for his performance across the regular PL season.

SF2 matches are short compared to BW, BW may still start at 5pm, end around 8-9pm and there would still be enough time for SF2.
Anyway, the actual time of the finals hasn't been released yet. They'll probably put up a news bulletin on the Kespa website when they've decided on it.

Dat Fantasy Face o.O hungry for that Proleague Trophy. Look at his face hahaha.
The finals venue not being on the beach is unfortunate but is probably due in light of the Finals cancellation last time in Shanghai due to weather. SKT as a team mentioned in interviews that the players had prepared extremely hard last year before the Shanghai FInals and felt the date cancellation threw them off their concentration. No excuses, its just as SK is both Proleague sponsor through SK Planet and the indoor, climate-controlled basketball stadium is also owned by the SK Group. So maybe SK is worried about volatile weather messing with the Finals date and therefore are not having the Finals as the traditional and historic Gwang An-Rhi beach.

Hi people, I will maybe be able to go to see the final too and I would defenitely like a TeamLiquid lunch meeting before the final
Is there any news about the time of the Final ? And will it really be on Sunday the 8th of April ? (I still need to change my flight ticket so a confirmation would reassure me)
Also, you are saying that there are no tickets and only 7 500 people will be able to intend, it means that for the 7 501st person, they will say "stop, no more seat, go home" ? (rude)
8th April is confirmed. Time has still yet to be released.
As for the seating capacity, 7500 is just the estimated number of seats in the stadium. I have no idea how many people they will let into the stadium. But it's advisable to go there a few hours in advance.

Hey, I had to change my flight too. Since no time was released and there are no late flights to my city, I decided to leave on Monday. That will also let you celebrate your team victory, or stay later at the venue to try to get autographs !
We can't know how many people we bet allowed in, 7500 is the estimated seating capacity of the basketball court, but I guess they will remove some bleachers to build the stage where players booths will be, while they will add extra seats on the basketball playground.
You should join us for lunch so we can prepare shootout and cheerful signs, then head to the stadium together.
SKT1 must win this one, sry KT fans but your short reigin will end soon. SKT fighting ^^, also com'on Khan fans cheer for SKT, we have sexy bisu and we didnt knock u guys out of the play offs ^^
I think we're gonna have to turn up pretty early for this one, based on the number of fans regularly attending PL matches and the sheer length of time since the last BW final, the crowd should be huge.
I wish so hard that there was some way I could make it to this. To those who can, you are all extremely fortunate. No way I'm going to budge from my computer when this starts. Thanks for the update and info!

Anyway, KT FIGHTING!
I'm sure the small venue is irrelevant- attendances are not down, interest has not waned. That is not the problem, at least. Besides, it's big enough to create some pretty insane atmosphere and the place being stuffed with more people unable to get in, should be another good demonstration of high demand. It's just a little bit of good publicity, looking on the bright side.
Yeah, even the KeSPA app says 18:00 on Sunday the 8th. SF finals are to be held on the 7th according to that.
Heading there myself with 3 or 4 Korean buddies. And definitely a head's up: Get there EARLY. Even if it means lining up several hours ahead. I was at the first Samsung vs KT game and I came to Yongsan 20 minutes before they opened the doors. I barely managed to get a seat. So expect it to be ridiculously crowded.
