EDIT-
==NEW WORLD RECORDS on Single Player Twilight Struggle for all 3 races!== =(replays and screenshots included!)=
31:42 T Struggle Wave236
[replay corrupt at 17min because I paused it to answer the phone T_T]
49:28 Z Struggle Wave465
[This record MUST be beaten. I still don't know the best units to win with zerg. I'm thinking 24 hydras and 12 lurkers with some overlord and defiler support is the best assault force]
31:19 P Struggle Wave265
[replay corrupt at 10min, don't know why]
Since I don't have the internet. I got the new patch and noticed a few new maps: (2)Bottleneck , (2)Boxer , (2)Twilight Struggle , (8)Jungle Rumble , (8)River Runs Through it, (2)Breaking Point, (2)Isolation, (2)Twisted Fate, (6)Crash Sites, & (4)Nightmare Station, . They all suck except Twilight Struggle which is a UMS map made for 1 or 2 players where you have to kill 4 cerebrates meanwhile the zergs get stronger every wave of attacks (which are constant). Its kind of like a Defense Map except you have to mount offensives in order to win. Very High macro apm type map if you play it on single player.
So anyways I finally beat it (without cheat codes). It took me about 2 hours and i was up to wave 1145 or something. I probably could have beaten it faster but i was experimenting with different unit combos. The best combo was MnM ,Goliaths, turrets, and Vessels (few bunks) defending 24/7 and Ghosts for Nuking the outposts and finally the cerebrates.
I had about 6 factories and 8-10 barracks constant pumping units and I was using Command Centers lifted in the middle for supplies because they kill your depots so fast its rediculous.
So, Lets get a healthy competition going to see who can beat it the fastest. My time was 1172th wave 02:06:09 I know it can be surpassed.
Also I have modified the map and created a *Protoss version as well as a *Zerg version. I Haven't beaten those ones yet. Feel free to download and post times.
Protoss version-
http://www.panschk.de/mappage/(2)Twilight Struggle-P(n).scx
Zerg version-
http://www.panschk.de/mappage/(2)Twilight Struggle-Z(n).scx
PS - If you save the game you can't save replays so goodluck. ^_-
PS PS- Also If you kill the Kakaru it sets the Zergs to 'Harder' Mode
Terran version is in the scenario folder. it came with the new patch.
UPDATE - ===Terran===
***Terran 1172th wave 02:06:09 ***
Terran is by far the hardest to win this with because all the units are weaker and goliaths cost more and they build faster out of more buildings and you have to stim and micro and buildings dont regenerate health they burn down. you have to constantly repair and rebuild turrets. then make command centers and fly them to the middle so you have supplies because depots take up too much space and die too easily. plus shitty SCVs have to buzz around the buildings they make and they get picked off or worse they get in the way of other scv trying to build when you try to be organized with your structures.
===Zerg strat ===
I think the best way to win with zerg is to pump drones till 76 control and drop another hatch below for faster mining. then get lurkers and lings and tripple upgrade and tech up to guardians and mutas with spores, overlords, lurkers, hydras, and lings for main de. Once you got like 2-2 air and 3-3-3 ground move out with like 8-12 guards 24 muta , 12 hydra, and a few lords and slow crush push the cerebrates. watch out though cause it seems like when you kill a 'base' they attack hard for a few minutes.
***I beat it as zerg in 58:15 on the 670th wave***
using mostly mass 3-3 hydra with 4-5 lurkers on each corner of my base for defense. I had 4-5 hatches on each side of my base plus one on top and on bottom of the minerals. constant pump of hydras with like 50 or so drones mining.
===Protoss strat ===
***I beat it as protoss in 43:48 on the 435th wave***
using an arbiter, obs, high temps, and dragoons as main assualt. With dark templar and high templar and massive amounts of cannons on defense. I moved out with 3-3-3 units at about 20 minutes or around 100th wave to kill top left base then retreated leftover units rebuilt to 200 psi and used all the spare cash to mass cannons before trying another assualt 150 waves later, then rebuild and assualt 100 waves after that, and then finally 80 waves later to seal the deal.
After playing this map 15 times or so I realized that the best way to win is kill the orange and brown bases (bottom left and top right) first because those are the bases that produce the guardians. I think when you kill the greater spires they stop spawning. Its probably best to avoid the middle yellow outposts and sneak as close to the edge of the map as possible and fight your way in as compact as possible so that way you have to fight less static de when going for the cerebrates.
Zerg: 57:00 - Patriot.dlk , 58:15 - CharlieMurphy (replay) http://www.battlereports.com/viewreplays.php?replaynum=31681
Protoss: 36:00 - Patriot.dlk , 43:48 - CharlieMurphy (replay) http://www.battlereports.com/viewreplays.php?replaynum=31682
Terran: 38:23 - Patriot.dlk , 52:24 - CharlieMurphy , (replay) http://www.battlereports.com/viewreplays.php?replaynum=31769

I reached a stable state where I could wait and sit down my ass for an infinite time... I'm at wave 521... and I'm nuking thri bases... I use bunker walls backed by siege tanks and wraiths.

has anybody beaten his 2 hour record yet?

I tried twice with toss.;; I killed one cerebrate then got overwhelmed by 2439057820493578 muta, desfiler, zergling, ultra, guardian -.-

I did it with a friend in 37 minutes. It was easy. After you get critical mass of MM/Tank/Vessel, you both roll out with 150 supply in units and kill everything that moves. After the Cerebrates die, units still spawn there, so that's pretty annoying. We both pretty much stopped caring about defense after we got our army out, so I was about half dead and my friend had two barracks, three depots and his cc left. Easy map.
|
try play it single player
|
its kind of fun, played it as zerg and after killing the first cerebrate with mass hydras i got trampled by an unstoppable wave of shit, money constantly <100 and i couldnt even defend it with pure hydra

I think with zerg if you just make a wall of spore/sunk/lurk.. nothing will happen.
|
this map is hard because ... you really shouldnt move out with less than 2-2 upgrades marines (for super kakamutas 3+3 armor) or less than a group of tanks (for torrasque 4+5 armor, 800hp), by then the swarm should be coming from all directions, they hit you everywhere sometimes you dont respond properly and they add up on that side, which may quickly evolves to the cause of defeat. Terran doesnt have any static anti-ground defense, you have to station troops all around your base while spare enough of them to make offense, 200/200 is not enough
|

lol i thought the point of the thread is to beat it as fast as you can alone X_X
haven't tried it yet but it's nice to see you made other versions

Fun Map, I can take out 1 cerebrate around wave 50 or so with MM, Tank, Vessel but after that all the Guards and plague just slaughter me.... o.o

How bout defenders of the galaxy?
thats a neat official ums
|
man i cant beat this map rofl
a tip for those who might try (who cares?), after a while most of the zerg forces are made of upgraded mutalisks
i managed to build an almost permanent defence with tanks and valkyries surrounding my base and even killed one cerebrate with a 10 tank and 6 valk army, but right then a massive amount of mutas started coming and simply walked over me (ok i had stopped making valk and switched to wraiths, that was silly )
with tank/valk this map can probably be won in under 45 min, possibly under 30, it just takes a shit-long time to build up 200-200 3-3 units, gets boring after a few tries
|
I start getting upgrades asap. You can get em pretty fast if you start out with 3 command centers and pump ass loads of scv at first.
Beware when building Air because there is triggers that make devourers spawn and they spawn faster the more air you have.
ps - is defenders of the galaxy even beatable at all? i think it just goes on forever.

I admit, I was feeling pretty good when I started this map. Things were actually going great when I rolled out at about the fiften minute mark with 5 groups of MnM with 2/2 upgrades, a group of Tanks, and a couple of Vessels... with troops to spare for defense (Bunkers and Turrets with SCVs to repair)... or so I thought...
I just got done sieging to attack my first Cerebrate when Torsque and Guardians came out and wiped my shit out. And what did I have to show for all of this? Two dead spore colonies... I'm no pro, but I'm no uber noob either. I microed/macroed/multi tasked/etc. It seems pretty much like if you try to leave your base, you won't have anything left to defend. Of course, this was only my first try, but from a strategic point of view.... it seems like teching to Battlecruisers and Vessels with DMatrix and Irradiate is the only true solution. But alas, since I only played it once, I don't know how the triggers work exactly and people have already been mentioning that 3/3 Devourers pop up so this could be a pretty stupid strategy too.
Don't get me wrong, I think this map is beatable... but the real challenge is the time...

Don't get me wrong, I think this map is beatable... but the real challenge is the time... nukes seem to be the only "easy" way to win, and im not even sure its easy since there are overlords dancing around, but still, getting a few nukes in would do massive damage so its a good solution
mass bc might work if you abuse irradiate, but BC alone would die to devourers, mutas, hydras and spores

38 min 23 sek, no joke this time (fu emyryian)

Hey, I did it singel, I completed them all on the first try even though zerg took 57 min

This is incredibly insanely hard to do. Wow, after I kill the first cerebrate, they just go nutzz and run me over!!!!!!! Patriot, I dl'd your replay, but it seems to be corrupted. Is there something special to watch replays of UMS?? UMS replays are always corrupt to me....
|
Uhhh man I must be dumb or something, I tried this on bnet and the pulldown menu for your race selection was greyed out and unselectable, so i HAD to play with terran. How the hell do you choose protoss or zerg??
Also, why not see who beats the map fastest with two players too?
Anyways, I did play this map with a friend of mine, and we were both terran. He kinda sucked so I had to tell him what to do all the time. I made a ring of bunkers and turrets shielded by depots and scv's on standy to repair. We exterminated the zerg presence on the sides, then moved down and eliminated two of the cerebrates. I was maxed out (200/200) and moving upwards when...we both dropped!! WTF GAY. Anyways, will try this again tomorrow.
Good, fun map.

I honestly cant understand your troubles. It's really easy to do this shit and it's extremly easy with protoss.. Protoss is the god of these maps just becouse carriers are that good and nexus aswell.
Below follows a guide on how i did it:
Start with a new command center at the bottom, will help you get many scvs fast. Build all your supplys as block at the top of your base and later on you add a few bunkers.. Get marine range fast.
Wait a little to get many scvs and minerals before take gases etc.. When they say "hydra incoming" you shouldn't care to much.. Just be ready to repair and get that range going and get many scvs so you mine as fast as possible and still have a few to repair all the time (but don't have idle scvs there to repair until you have strong economy)
I added double engering-bay for upgrades becouse I wanted armor for my scvs and weapon for my bunkers...Dont know if it's better to have 4 medics at your minerals and skip armor (no big deal)
Anyway you should just maybe double the bunker amount at the bottom and top and go for a factory instead of more bunkers. Go for 3 starports and two armory asap.. Get like 5 valks as soon as possible and grade them directly. You should be fine against that first gard rush now!
Now you just add up 6 bunkers or so at the bottom and top and block them of with supply and barracks (not to tightly blocked, maybe that¨s when they attack the supplys) Don't use siege tanks or at least I didnt..
Always repair alot now and keep building new supplys and stuff to block.. Max out the upgrades for air and for marines... Have at least 8 starports and produce battle cruisers..
When you have 150 energy and 200/200 you attack with the bc and valks... Sneak in from the side and dont waste any yamatoguns... You should only need to kill like 4 spores before you can sniper out his cerebrate with targeting+yamato gun.. Sacrifice all the valks.
During this battle you need to multi-task to repair and rebuild in bcs... After you have 200/200 you repeat 3 times.
I needed two fleets for two of the bases becouse the defense was so strong.. But yamatogun with two forces in a row was enough.. Key is fast effective defense with supply+barrack block..
The sides need like 2 bunkers and later on the battlecruisers to protect...
Protoss was really really simple.
Use your force of zealots and dragoons to protect your probes and to reinforce the cannons at the top and bottom. Fast new nexus at the bottom of the minerals..
Do the exact same strategy only that you need like 4 cannons at the top and 4 at the bottom..
Then you make a wall of forge and nexus that's almost completly tight.. Nexus where it's alot of pressure and forge where it's little lesser.. Cannons behind the tightly wall.
make a ring around your entire base to block with pylon, forge and gates, all your tech buildings nexus etc and a ring of cannons behind eventually.
Max out in 3-3-3 carriers (remember to start upgrades for shield asap)
Also, just like you did valks against first push, make corsairs with protoss
|
I just wnana see the repay, I can't put that much time into trying again myself, it's gonna be a longterm goal ><
|
hehe took me 37 minutes =o
I dont know why the replay dont work.. if it dont then it don't.. sad etc

My reps worked for me on single player. I'm thinking the reason why patriot's rep don't work is either A) he played on slower game speed or B) he used a cheat code after a few minutes. No offense.

Not always. TMM replays usually don't screw up.

Updated my terran score to 52 minutes. Lets see someone beat it on single and submit a rep (that works).

lol. who would cheat on something like this? and 52 minutes is really bad.
I dare you to observ me doing it any time.. just say when. I mean, who would post a replay of himself cheating? And why would I possible want it to be slower? lol.
Read how I did it and you will realize it's all about boxing in with a cute defense and kill with yamato gun.. no need for lower speed at all.
Ums replays often screws up.

btw.. post your replay of your amazing record

I did its in the first post, btw none of my reps are screwed up. Why don't you beat them again and post some reps? If you don't I have all the right in the world to say you didn't do it, its nothing personal.

I've beaten it with a friend in 1.04.xx. Even though the last 10-15 mins was searching for a f-ing spore colony... We played zerg and terran. 12 hatch 14 hatch 15 hatch 16 pool ftw. Then we just massed hydras and mnm... We both suck so I guess you've done it a lot faster. Is there an official record?
|
I can't even get a good eco going. Im trying to do ti with terran and its very hard. You have to choose between an economy or units. Get the balance wrong and you'll either lose before round 50 or lose later on around round 100+. I gave up at round 111. I kept losing my wraths, defilers started plagueing everything, and 2 ultras attacked me from the north and south which I had 0 defence at.
You need a 3rd CC at the bottom Asap. Marine range and dmg upgrades. I got about 3 tanks at each side for ultras. However it was a bad idea becuase the bunkers + medic wall are enough to take down ultras and the tanks seem to do mroe damage to your own buildings than the zerg.
|
Just beat it with protoss and zerg in 25-27 minutes
|

I created those maps, They are on my hard drive at home. I'm at the library now I will try and upload them when I have the time/chance.

I can't even figure out how the Terran version is possible without nuking, since I have to keep 140 psi minimum at my base in defense and SCVs... which doesn't really leave much to attack with. ><

PS- Yes I have beaten it with every race.

Anybody have a working map for that?? Seen a youtube video of the TvZ version working in Remastered.
