Hello everyone, during the last week i've been collecting around 2500 vods of OSL vods and putting them into a total amount of around 750 folders.
I've created a torrent with virtually all OSL vods ranging from Hanaro to Tving (I'd say it's about at 98-99% complete status for OSL vods)
Hanaro OSL only has the finals
But every other OSL in this torrent has what I would call "Complete" status, every vod in this torrent has atleast the quality of 360p and "most" of it is in perfect quality since alot of the OSLs are downloaded straight from OGN website.
I have also renamed every vod so that it represents the correct player names and what map the game was played on, including in what order the games were played.
For a couple of pictures on how everything is arranged look here:
The torrent is about 300gb large so for anyone downloading it, have patience. There may be some errors with names and order played but i've double checked most stuff.
For everyone downloading this torrent: Have fun, I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I will myself.
I will keep seeding this as long as there is people wanting to download it and I hope the ones that actually does download the whole thing will keep seeding aswell.
Lastly I want to thank moktira for helping me out so much with teaching me how to download from OGN for example, the renaming script and helping me out with finding vods and so on, without you this would probably never have been finished. You have my eternal gratitude for everything you've helped me out with. Also thanks for helping me post the torrent since it refused for me!
Also I want to thank everyone who manages TLPD + Liquidpedia without those 2 I would be totally lost.
Update: I just noticed that there is 5 vods that are incorrect, the first 2 games in Ever09 Finals, 2 first games in Korean Air Season 1 finals and the first one in Korean Air Season 2 finals. Those were pregame stuff instead of the actual games. Torrent link to the fix: http://www.teamliquid.net/vods/torrents/OSL Replacements.torrent
This is really great, thanks so much for doing this Thinasy. I was glad to be able to help even in the small amount that I did.
I always think that the best contributors are the ones who see something is missing and go about fixing it without asking if people think it's a good idea or how they'd go about doing it. They don't announce it to the world; they just do it.
This really is a fantastic achievement and a monumental piece of BW history. Great work, very inspirational.
This is a great idea. Reminiscent of Moktira's MSL vods' torrent if I recall correctly. My only concern is that the torrent is so big and require so much space that it'll take ages and I'll need another hd to even start downloading it lol. I guess the only recommendation I have is if you can put several seasons per torrent then you aren't forced to download the whole torrent to get a specific season. Would definitely make life easier Thanks!

Need to burn through all the MSL vods I downloaded before I can start to think about digging into this (3 whole MSL seasons to go). Thanks a bunch for making this available though!

hmm maybe not specifically for the OSL but I did want the Bisu games against Saviour(whole run) from the MSL vods torrent. Maybe I'll ask there lol

I should have those though in my MSL folder from moktiras torrent
This is really cool! As someone just starting to get into Brood War, this will make it a lot easier for me. I'll be sure to seed it as much as I'm able!
Wow ! You rule dude ! I'm downloading this ASAP. Funny thing is I thought about that not too long ago, that many oldchool vods might be lost if they were only stored on youtube. It would be a shame as the OSL is the most representative tournament of Broodwar professional scene.
Thx again !
edit :""most" of it is in perfect quality since alot of the OSLs are downloaded straight from OGN website. "
This is great. Will download ASAP and include it to Moktira MSL/Proleague, that i have downloaded some time ago Collection of Brood War almost complete now ... Many thanks!

You were my life line for a while when you uploaded the bw vods to youtube. I'm still very grateful for that.
Thank you so much I was never around for the early days of BW and found it hard to find VODS all in one place this is a great help to me thank you so much!
I've started downloading and seeding some of this I should be getting new internet soon with unlimited upload and download at night (1am to 7am I think it is) so I'll seed unlimited amounts then, but for now I'll seed what I can afford xD
Compile data from each series' LR thread (the recommended games polls) to rank each VOD in terms of interest. Give each OSL a composite score based on recommended games to determine which are highest rated.

Could anyone be so kind to tell me the top 3 OSLs before 2007? :D
Are VLC, Windows Media Player and GOM Media Player all able to play these files?
There is actually 3 different formats in these folders, they're: webm, flv and mp4.
I've only used VLC + MPCHC and both those eat all 3 formats without any problem, but Ì dont know about GOM or WMP
Also, there is a total of maybe 10-15 vods that are in lesser quality than 360p but that's mostly due to the fact that those particular files arent available on OGN website anymore.
Also thanks for all the kind comments guys!, also thanks for the spotlight

Thank you so much for all the work you've put into this collection! I'm downloading it right now and I'm going to seed it for quite a while from a dedicated machine. <3
Since we're on this topic, does anyone have an all-time collection for Proleague VODs? Specifically, I'm looking for 2004-2007, since 2008 on the games were consistently uploaded on Youtube and are much easier to find.

Arent those in the moktira proleague torrent? The quality is pretty bad though but I dont think there is any way to find better.
Wow, this is kickass, especially as a Broodwar historian like me. I plan on watching every video if I can download them... Is there any way that someone can break this into .rar chunks and upload for those of us on university internet/have already had run-ins with our ISP's?

You don't have to download the whole thing at once. If you are using utorrent, wait for the torrent information to be displayed before accepting the download and you can choose which folders to download. You can also do this after you start downloading by clicking on the files tab.

Doesn't it still use p2p sharing? That's my main problem. My university (and all the coffee shops in the area) ban it, and my ISP watches my network history like a hawk.

I can only find an "MBC Proleague" torrent, with 7 leechers and 0 seeders T_T

Oh my mistake I thought it was a size issue for you.
This is way bigger than it seems people, here you can watch things that were never put on youtube! (if i understood it correctly) And probably in better quality (generally OGN vods are crystal clear compared to MBC).
Definitely downloading. Maybe ill finally watch Stork vs Nada on 815 , only highlights were on youtube.
omg this is amazing. I'm going to download the entire thing, so many movies and albums are about to meet a quick demise @__@ Thank you btw! The amount of work you put into this is incredible.

Some of the vods were probably on youtube once atleast, but there is a lot of stuff thats atleast gone from TLPD.
Yeah all vods from even the earlier seasons @ OGN are in original quality from TV, i'd say there is about 10-15 vods that are kinda crappy but those werent even available on OGN anymore so yeah.. I took those vods from youtube just to try and make it as complete as possible, i'd say 60% is in excellent quality, 39% is in good quality (360p) and 1% TOPS is "bad" quality.
As someone who has never watched BW for real before, could I get some help here?
1. Do any of the vods have english commentary, to help me understand the game? 2. Can someone give me a brief rundown of the series-to-watch from the archive? Specifically looking for preface to SC2 history, paradigm changes and metagame revolutions.

I can really only answer your first question and that would be no unfortunately. There is alot of videos on youtube though with english commentary.

I suggest you go for some of Cholera's VODs on youtube; they're in English and are usually fairly well explained, although he generally assumes you know what the units are and the basic mechanics and so forth http://www.youtube.com/user/CholeraSC/videos
There are probably more "basic" commentaries around, but I don't really know what they'd be. Savior vs Bisu is one of the most revolutionary series that changed the matchup forever, definitely check it out.

Savior vs Bisu was in the MSL though not the OSL
Can I find the vod for that anywhere? I've heard of the series, and I'm intrigued of Savior since reading the article series about him on this site.

There's also a really nice Day[9] + Nony commentary on Savior vs Bisu, if you're going to watch the match I'd suggest that. Might not be super accessible if you've never watched any BW before, so maybe it'd be good to watch some pre-Bisu PvZ to get a feel for what it was like...
I had a massive BW collection from 2008-2011, mainly downloading the OSL/MSL tornaments from youtube via keepvid. But I lost it all when my dad randomly formatted my ext hard disk so that he could use it, QQ.
this would be a great thing just to have in your harddrive for an archive. To bad when i started downloading there was 91 leeches and 1 seeder. Don't think ill bother trying to download this for awhile.

I wish I could afford some kind of seedbox for it or something:/
It's too bad you can't put them up on some hosting website in smaller part. This would remove the seeder problem and members can get them faster however not sure what website will allow you to put 1+Tb of games rofl. Even a GB is pretty large for a lot of website but reasonable.

Agreed unfortunately.
ya, no worries, not your fault. Only other alternative is to put all those vods on an external and then send it to another TL member and he sends it to another etc... Would cost money to get by mail but if we do it by geography, then it shouldn't cost that much to do. Of course, this is one of those far out ideas lol.

Not in any way attempting to cast the shadow of doubt over this thread filled with love - but am I the only one experiencing extremely slow downloading speeds?

One thing to report, however, unless I'm missing something. 4. Coca-Cola\Ro8\Group B\4. Sync vs IntoTheRain @ Neo Jungle Story.flv seems incomplete at 4MB. It cuts off a little after the first minute.

With uTorrent (or any other torrent probably aswell) you can easily just deselect all in the save menu, and select the certain seasons you want to download. Your disk will probably say "not enough space", but you can just ignore this notion. You will be able to download and seed the specific files you do have!
This is great work OP! I never followed BW in the time, but I was always just curious to fully watch some vids. I think its really awesome when things like this happen though in any community!
I have 120mbit internet and too much diskspace, so just to support this cause i will seed and watch :D
I think I am going to cry tears of joy. I cannot thank you enough for this. Seriously, this may actually be better than Yakii's small VOD thread (which simply is the best thread on the internet. Ever. No need to argue).
I HAVE to download it and burn that stuff on DVDs to be able to watch all this awesomeness. Words cannot describe how I feel just thinking of re-watching Anytime's Royal Road, or Jaedong's titles (yes, I am an Oz fan...).

MSL's and Proleague I guess.
There's a pair of torrents that contain the MSL VODs and the proleague matches that were broadcast on MBC. Both of these are availiable on TL's VOD tracker. I'm currently seeding the MSL VODs and downloading the Proleague VODs (albeit very slowly and with no seeders, so that one may be cooked).
It's so cool! But hardly anyone seeds I don't think that I'll be able to download it this way 1.9 kb/s. Such a shame that only a few will be able to posses these glorious files.

Hopefully old Proleagues are still available in some form. I probably watched those way more than OSL. They were always on at the perfect time for me so I watched them almost every night. I would love to go through some of them again at some point.

There is only 1 full seeder at the moment. From my torrent it looks like theres about 20-30 people (probably more) on 91%. As soon as these people get to 100% and seed (please seed!) the torrent should be a hell of a lot faster. Saying that, im at 91% and downloading at 1.3MB/s so its not too bad at all.
Is there the same type of thing available somewhere, for "Proleague" seasons?
Edit: I checked the "MBC torrent" thread, and it seems like HALF of the pro-league games are contained in those torrents(those broadcasted by MBC, if I am not mistaken?), but is there a similar resource for the other half of the proleague games?

Yes that is correct, problem is that OGN only has 08 Season, 09-10, 10-11 and 11-12 Season on their website. the 08-09 redirects to WCS Korea S1 SC2 instead.
I will probably make a similar torrent though for those seasons, but that'll probably be in maybe 2 weeks. I have to download all of em and that will take some time and then rename of all em^^
This is great, thanks alot, i've downloaded it all and i'll be seeding as much as i can.
Having looked through some of the awesomeness, i noticed some missing sets of finals (and some files being misslabeled as sets when they're actually just introduction/interviews), specifically in Korean air Season 2 and Ever09. I apologize if this has already been mentioned, just scanned the thread through rather quick.
Sweet, done! Gonna seed for at least a month, but potentially a lot longer, I hope. Enjoying the beautiful video quality of old years, so much better than the scattered youtube sources. NaDa vs Dongrae @ Neo Arkanoid, lol, more than an hour long.

Correct, I updated that part in the OP, i'll upload a fix for that soon. Been doing some school work, I will also add a text file with what we needs replacement.

Glad you like it^^ about quality I actually used OGN mostly for vods that I were unable to find at all through TLPD but it ended up being quite a lot to be honest so yeah, there is a lot in really sweet quality atleast

Hopefully old Proleagues are still available in some form. I probably watched those way more than OSL. They were always on at the perfect time for me so I watched them almost every night. I would love to go through some of them again at some point.
I don't think it's fair to call it a barren wasteland, with the exception of some of the early OSLs here nevake still has most OGN stuff. We got two copyright strikes from MBC so I had to make all their VODs private so the channel doesn't get deleted but you can get all those games in the torrents I released a few years ago. That has all the MBC broadcasted Proleague and nevake still should have most of the OGN broadcasted Proleague (at least from when nevake started).
There is bound to be a few more incomplete vods so the best choice would be for you to just download those yourself via the Nevake account and if you cant find em on TLPD, just PM me and i'll see if I can get em through OGN for you

It's definitely not fair since I got atleast 60% of the vods straight from the nevake account, so for OSL's atleast it's still great, not counting all the hours spent on actually getting all the vods to the account feels like pure ignorance^^

Yes, you are correct. It isn't fair. I went there looking for Proleague stuff (mostly MBC. That is the channel I remember watching most of the Proleague stuff on.) and didn't see it and figured that the Korean broadcasters went after the account. I should have looked into things a bit more.
Either way I appreciate that everything is still available in one form or another. I was worried that it all was lost. I hadn't gone to the Nevake Youtube account in a couple years so after seeing a substantial chunk of the content missing on it I assumed the worst. Thankfully that isn't the case.
Just finished downloading and I will be seeding this for as long as I have the torrent. Thank you so much again for doing this, I will enjoy watching all of this soooo much. A great chance for people like me who weren't around for all of bw to catch up with all the stuff.
@The_Red_Viper: Nope it will restart from wherever you left off, and happy birthday btw.
yeah noticed this too after the night but ty for your answer. well if i would live in korea :D but ty anyway, hope i will have this osl collection anytime soon (right now at 10%^^)
Now I hate to be the guy asking for more, but is there anyone who did similar things for Warcraft 3 or any other games? Dota, CS, HoN, SC2 or whatever. I love competitive gaming in any form, and would love some of theese archived. I got a new 1tb HD when i found this thread, only to realise it wont get me so far

how are you uploading at 10mib/s? I get a max of 1 mib/s lol.
Hope people will keep seeding this for a while. Want to grab it but gotta make room first
Its a seedbox. If I were seeding that much on my home connection my ISP probably wouldn't be very happy.
There are some Canadian ISPs that offer those speeds though
oh I see. Ya, probably but I doubt it comes cheap lol.
Well I could get it for 50 euros where I live, funny thing is I had 100/10 before for like 45 euros (they changed the prices around at this point) but then I called and said I wanted to change ISP and they freaked out and told me they could give me 200/10 for 20 euros per month for as long as I want.

100/100 connection at the least, If only my connection was 200/200 instead of 200/10, 25mb/s upload would be delicious.
200/200? That would be nuts lol. My download is fine but my upload is really slow.

haha that's pretty funny actually. Wonder why they freaked out? Are they a smaller company or something? Those numbers are amazing though. My connection doesn't compare >.> It's still pretty good for what I use it for though so can't really complain

They arent, they are one of the biggest ISP's in Sweden rofl, I guess they value every costumer highly, it's really cutthroat to be fair in Sweden with ISP's.
You should get like the noble prize or something, awesome job! My friend just came to me and with an external HD and said he got all these games from this torrent. Oh the joy!

I don't think I've written anything here yet, so I will...
Thank you so much! This torrent took me maybe 100 hours to download and I couldn't do anything internet-related while not having it paused, but it was so worth it! :D For the last week I have been checking out a couple of games every day, and it's pretty exciting since I joined the StarCraft scene right before SC2's release. That means I have no idea about who participated and/or won the different tournaments. I jumped straight into the "Panasonic" one from 2002, and I'm finished watching Ro16 Group A-C. It's cool to see Nada, Boxer and Yellow so young. :D
I'm definitely gonna load this onto my external HDD so I can bring it with me on my year of foreign studies!
Yeah thank u so much for this, just finished the download, will keep seeding as long as possible ! I am just curious, is there something like that for proleague?
I started watching the first complete OSL (Freechal) and I noticed, that there are sometimes parts of the games skipped. Is there something wrong with the vods or is this how OGN uploaded them?
For example they skipped a lot in the ZvZ 5. ChRh vs FlyToTheSky @ Jungle Story. You basically never saw a fight and all of a sudden one player has 3 base mass hydra ling and the other is mined out.

Your download might be corrupted. Some media players just skip the corrupted parts and jump to a readable point.
Keep the dream alive! Keep downloading and seeding! Spread the word. Gather your elders. Gather your younglings. Say no to Monday Night Football. Say hello to OSL!
Hi Thinsay, it looks like G2 of the Freechal OSL finals is incorrect. Its currently the earlier ro8 game on blaze between garimto and skelton instead of the one in the finals.
Not sure if im allowed to bump my own thread, but just wanted to let everyone know that my HDD crashed kinda early after I created this torrent so I was kinda bummed out about doing anything about it for some time, but I just wanted to bump this to let everyone know that im currently seeding it again now and I'll try to keep doing it for the forseeable future and I'm aware of some of the minor issues with vods aswell and I'll look into it next week or so.

Cheers, I've been uploading for a week or so now and i'll keep it chugging a long
Thank you for this ! I realize it's a long time after this was created but this is the first time I discovered it ! I downloaded the torrent and there are still seeders. Thank you so much !
I'm glad people are still seeding this, my only hard drive just died on me so will have to redownload my own torrent. Saw a good opportunity to bump it now since the MBC one also got bumped.
Okay so, i've put up a new torrent. Unfortunately I didnt keep track of everything that i've fixed. The torrent is a bit smaller but thats due to superior encoding on the files. I downloaded the entire OGN's youtube channel which had games related to OSL's and swapped all the files that I thought made sense.
So what you can expect is: More games (didnt have a few of em), fixed what I believe is every broken vod on the former torrent, ALOT of vods with improved audio quality (the video quality wasnt that much better), fixed order on games that were wrong. I believe this is as complete as OSL collections will get at this point.
No problem, i'm currently seeding both my through my own 500/500 connection and uploading it a seedbox aswell atm, so it's a good opportunity to get it atleast atm.
On April 07 2019 06:45 GTR wrote: btw if you dig through the ogn youtube playlists, all the games from the osl are uploaded (outside of those with match fixers in them, cause korea)
This is correct, this is where I took all the current files which I used to update the torrent where it was needed, it still includes all the match fixer vods that arent available on OGN, but ye. If you dont feel like having the games taking up a huge amount of space basically all vods are available on the OGN site.
Liquidpedia is amazing to find a specific vod you want to watch so huge shoutouts to everyone that has been updating it since the beginning.
Edit: One thing to note tho about OGN's youtube is that from what I saw there are a bunch of vods from TVing OSL missing, there isnt a playlist for it at all either. I realized that one of the Jangbi vs Fantasy vods were completely broken in the old torrent which I had to dig out from some korean youtube channel to find.
i believe the reason for the missing tving osl vods is because spotv/esportstv have the rights to that season on youtube and for some reason ogn hasn't bothered to fix it up yet.
That's a shame. Currently working on improving Moktira's MSL collection aswell with vods that has better quality from Nevake account and the GOM torrent he reuploaded a few months ago and well i'll probably end up putting atleast the majority of files in folders that makes sense when they were played without having to check dates. Also adding the missing vods from PDPOP MSL + the few games for TriGEM MSL
Also have completed a KSL collection and working towards a complete ASL collection but KSL is still up on Youtube and hopefully will stay that way. But ASL already has a few vods that arent up on Youtube and only exists on Afreeca so slowly working towards a complete collection of those vods aswell.
Also, whoever has episode 10 of Hyungjoon becomes a progamer, please PM me cause its blocked in every country on the planet it seems.
I also started seeding again, but my upload speed is kinda limited. Uploaded 6GB in the last couple of days but for a 300GB torrent, that’s almost nothing. If you have spare disk space and bandwith, please help with seeding or leeching. At the moment I’m setting up my raspberry pi to serve as a seeder 24/7.
