“You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.” — Albert Einstein
The Brood War renaissance is upon us! Brood War was proclaimed dead. KeSPA, and even God Young Ho himself left us all alone. But then from the darkness we, the SBWI emerged, as the angel of retribution. Oaths were taken and now has come the time for us to fulfill them! Donations came from foreign lands and we swore to be the Christmas gift that keeps on giving. And now we are here to do just that, giving you the most prestigious team league - of all time! Remember today, young zergling, for today life is good! In Korea, we have Bisu streaming, Sea talking, and Mong eating. Meanwhile in Hungary, the realm of demigods, for the first time in eons a young champion of humanity challenges the gods themselves. He does not eat, he does not talk and he does not stream. Our top foreign players take games off former progamers. Foreigners now hold ranks in the highest leagues in Korea!
We wish to promote this thriving scene, now and tomorrow, by welcoming you all to usher in the second age of Brood War.
- the official administration: Jaevlaterran, mEATshEILd and vOddy
Prize Pool
Prize pool will be $1,000 with the following distribution:
Casters
Hacklebeast
Hacklebeast, the Homecoming Veteran, is an American caster who needs no introduction! He is one of the most famous casters in the scene known for, among many tournaments, ISL, Gambit’s Cup and SBWI Nation Wars. His style is very versatile with both hard core analysis and humour. Hacklebeast writes his own statistics for players, matchups, games and has the ability to bring something new to every cast.
L_Master
L_Master, the Octopus; if Hacklebeast is the master of statistics, then L_Master is the king of strategy. Not only being extremely handsome, this beast of a man has casted both ISL and Gambit’s Cup. He is well known for his strategic build order commentaries, showcasing not only his casting but his deep understanding of all matchups. L_Master has been everywhere recently, casting more leagues than any other caster. His strong dedication to foreign Brood War can be seen all over the forums ranging from organizing tournaments to playing himself.
Map Pool
When picking maps for this tournament we considered a few very basic ideas. We wanted the maps to have variation in tilesets, expansion layouts, the amount of players it was made for, and the country of origin.
This map is a new map made by Freakling. It brings the heavy metal to the STL with inspiration from Match Point while still having the look of a Siege Tank junkyard.
A desert map with a unique look, bringing together the neutral sunken colony and rampless main, which open up possibilities for aggressive play. But at the same time greedy play is safer than on many maps since the natural entrance is through the main.
The expansion layout is most often what catches one’s eye when seeing this map for the first time. It has proven to favor the creative player and produce unorthodox games with high emphasis on air play.
Another foreign made map, by -NegativeZero-. We tried this map in the SBWI Summer Tour, and it was a success. The map is not only beautiful but also brings some interesting ramps that dictate the game flow of this map.
The classic winter map with perfect balance. It is a three player map with heavy emphasis on choke points and map division. However behind the macro facade lurks the evil that is cliff drops and blocked chokepoints.
The map of maps. No map is more famous and no map might deserve more to be in this tournament. It is perhaps most well known for its easily defended thirds, which tend to promote some greedy play, and the easily harassed naturals which give us aggression.
As our ace map we have chosen to go with good ole’ Desti. It is a map of legendary proportions within the foreign scene. It is the map where White-Ra beat Boxer and countless other epic foreign games . It offers great macro abilities along with some of the most innovative aggressive strategies.

Format
The format of the group stage will be 6 Bo 1 + ace match. Each teams play each other one time in the group stage. If two teams are on the same score before playoffs, number of losses will determine the winner.
After the group stage, the top four teams will advance for the playoffs. The winner of the group stage will face the fourth team, the runner-up will face the third team.
To generate a high level of participation in the tournament there will be 15% allowed W.O. sets per team in the tournament. This will be 15% of the total amount of games that each team play in the group stage. The exact number is therefore determined by how many teams sign up. This number will be rounded in standard arithmetic manner and presented when all teams have signed up. Out of these W.O:s, 2 will be allowed in the playoffs, the rest in the group stage. This will generate a reasonable amount of W.O. sets allowed for teams, independent on how many teams sign up. If we just put down a single amount of W.O. sets allowed, we could get into a bad situation where teams have unrealistic number of W.O:s.
TL;DR (8 teams = 5 W.O:s in group stage, 2 in playoffs, ) (9 teams = 6 W.O:s in group stage, 2 in playoffs, ) (10 teams = 7 W.O:s in group stage, 2 in playoffs, ) (11 teams = 9 W.O:s in group stage, 2 in playoffs, ) (12 teams = 10 W.O:s in group stage, 2 in playoffs, ) (13 teams = 12 W.O:s in group stage, 2 in playoffs, )
Before each match, the team captains will hand in a numbered list of players (six + ace player) and one joker player. The player names should be their official nicknames with clan tag and should stay identical throughout the tournament. If the nicknames given by the captain do not correspond to the nicknames being used, it will count as a smurf. No player may play more than once, except for the ace player.
If a player does not sign in after 15 minutes, the joker player must be ready to step in. The joker player can replace any player in any match according to captain decision. If no joker player is ready within 5 minutes after that, an automatic W.O. will take effect. The joker player is allowed to be an ace player, and can only replace one player. If a captain wants to send a joker, he whispers this to the referee before the actual set. The first three games are played simultaneously, the rest of the games played as they come unless captains wish otherwise.
Example list to be sent to swedish.brood.war.initiative@gmail.com: player1 player2 player3 player4 player5 player6 ace player (one of the above players) joker player
Example play: player1 vs joker on Oxide player2 vs player2 on Colosseum II player3 vs player3 on Outsider joker vs player4 on Overwatch player5 vs player5 on Tau Cross player6 vs player6 on Fighting Spirit ace player3 vs joker ace player on Destination
Rules
1) Rules Concerning Executive Decisions
Executive decisions will be made by a majority vote between Jaevlaterran and Meatsheild plus an independent randomly selected third party from SBWI. (Voddy is not allowed to participate in this vote, since he may be playing in the tournament.)
2) Rules Concerning Interactions between players
Any bad mannered behavior regarding someone’s race, skin color, nationality, ethnicity, religion, gender, culture or sexual orientation will not be tolerated.
Typing “gg” is not required at the end of a match
Bad manner behavior will be dealt with after a formal complaint unless of special circumstances.
3) Rules Concerning Server, Launcher, and Uniform
All games will be played on the ICCUP server unless arrangements are made with the administration. As we are guests playing on the ICCUP server we will respect all of their rules including blacklisted players not participating in the tournament (to see who is blacklisted, see this thread).
Teams will initially meet in the channel ‘op SBWI’.
If under special circumstances ICCUP is down for an extended period of time, an announcement will be made in the main thread about this. The announcement will be at the top of the thread and highlighted in red.
All games must be played using ICCUP antihack, with LAN latency plugin enabled, independently of the launcher used.
Players must play under their registered ID with clantag as specified under “format”.
4) Rules Concerning Replays
Replays must be sent to swedish.brood.war.initiative@gmail.com immediately after the completion of a set by both players.
If a match is not saved as a replay, the match will be played a second time., and the administration will not go hunting for replays, it is up to the players to send the correct replay. If the players don’t send the correct replay or it is broken, the game will be replayed.
All replays shall be renamed with clantags and game number in the following manner: “sasVSLRM1”, “repsVSLRM3” etc. so we know which order the games were played in and which teams played in it.
5) Rules Concerning Lag
If it is found that two players lag with each other, joker players from both teams will take their place. If a team has no joker player, the set will be considered a walk-over in favor of the team that has a joker player. If neither team has a joker player, the match will be a draw. A draw gives both teams 0 points. Then the match will end when one team reaches 3 wins.
If it is found that a player lags with everyone, there will be a mandatory replacement of the lagging player. If no joker player exists as a replacement, the set will be considered a walk-over in favor of the team without the lagger. The non-lagging player may also be swapped out at their respective team’s discretion for the joker player.
6) Rules Concerning Games Played Outside of the Designated Match Time
Postponed and pre-played games are forbidden unless the administration has made an executive decision to allow it.
Games played before the scheduled match time may only use the first four maps of a clan war; Oxide, Colosseum II, Outsider, and Overwatch.
Replays of pre-played or postponed games should be sent in as soon as the matches have finished.
7) Rules Concerning Walk-Overs
The first three players and one captain for each team must be present not later than 15 minutes after the first game’s scheduled starting time.
Players with technical issues are not exempt from any rules in this section.
Teams may choose not to take any granted walk-overs. However, the administration can force the acceptance of walk-overs to speed up the progress of the league.
8) Rules Concerning Abuse
Playing on an account that is not your own, lying to the administration, using rigged maps, and hacking etc will result in a league ban.
9) Rules Concerning Team Composition
Teams are limited to maximum 15 players and 2 captains, minimum 10 players and 1 captain.
Captains are permitted to play in clan wars.
Only captains are permitted to add and remove players.
Players that are newly added to a roster may not play in a clan war for 72 hours.
10) Rules Concerning Match Observers
Match observers are prohibited unless the administration and both players agree.
If, during the first minute of the game, a player or the administration asks an observer to leave, the observer must comply. If the observer doesn’t leave, the set will be replayed.
The set won’t be replayed if an observer caused troubles after the first minute of the game. (So players must be careful when they agree to play with an observer. Also remind observers not to change the latency setting of a game and don’t chat with players in a game.)
If an observer is present, players are required to activate ‘/dnd’ mode. If a player does not have ‘/dnd’ activated and does not activate it after a referee’s instruction, the other player will get a W.O.
11) Rules Concerning Proper Map Usage
If an incorrect map is used, the set must be played a second time.
The map order is determined by the most recent order under “Map Pool” in this thread. The map folder names are also numbered for players’ convenience.
12) Rules Concerning Spoilers
Players are forbidden from sharing, implicitly or explicitly, the results of a league match with anyone other than the administration, the players on their own team, and the players on the opposing team.
13) Rules Concerning Race
Players may play any race they wish, regardless of what is listed in the main thread. However, if a player plays a race other than what is listed in the main thread, it must be made clear to the opponent before the countdown begins.
If two race pickers cannot come to an agreement on what the matchup will be, both players are to privately message an administrator what their race will be and are forced to play that matchup.
14) Who can play?
A player who grew up in a location without a professional StarCraft scene; OR
The player currently residing in a location without a professional StarCraft scene and is not affiliated with a professional StarCraft team; AND
The player does not have connection lag that would significantly impact quality of play.
15) Play time
Games will be played on Saturdays 19 CEST and then after the time change, CET.
Finally a new legit team league for the foreign BW scene. This is desperately needed for top foreign players to stay active and keep practicing. Also, there's nothing like that feeling of preparing with your team and getting your spirit up during the clan war.
Here's to the first SBWI Team League out of hopefully many more that will come and be successful!

Yes i agree. Back when i played active my main motivation was my clan and clanleagues.

I agree, but it would be really player unfriendly to just throw in a bunch of maps that they probably don't have much experience on, but if Oxide and Overwatch are proven to be as awesome as they look and once the players get accustomed to them I personally think that rotating in even more well made foreigner maps is a good idea.
Amazing! Pretty nice map pool pulling out some older maps and some foreigner maps I'm still waiting for the day when one big league retires fighting spirit...excited for this and to see the teams will there be liquibets?
Great map poll, maybe besides Colloseum and Destination Good too see Hackle back too ! Will casters stream togheter ? It's always better then solo casts ^^

$50 per team it might be like $5 per player, so imo almsot everyone can afford it
Huge props to Jaevlaterran & co! I <3 every single one of you! Hopefully I'll be available to shoulder some of the workload as the league progresses + Show Spoiler +

Awesome hype vid as well, although it could've used some more of hacklebeast's screaming Also, the graphics are dope as hell, and our logo looks sweeeeeet!
tl;dr EVERYTHING IS AWESOME HOLY SHIT HYPEHYPEHYPE
I have to commend the tournament organizers on their excellent map-pool choices, especially the fourth one.
But seriously, it's great to see Oxide finally getting the tournament exposure that it has deserved for a while - in fact, you could probably just use 7 random Freakling maps and the map pool would be an improvement on what it currently is, lol.
On October 03 2013 10:01 Sero wrote: Cool, but there's no time for new teams to form, and $50 is a lot if you're not expecting to win. Is it meant to be for A ranks only?
Minimum 10 players, makes this $5 a person. If you have a bigger roster it is even cheaper. SBWI has seen this as a reasonable amount for the highest ranked team league outside of Korea.

I dont know why i am in a special cases. I dont care. But wtf organizers ?!?!? All-kill format for play-off ??? u kidding ???? i wont even waste my 50$.... playing whole league... wasting my energy and time to face Sziky in final. This is really stupid.
Some way u change ur mind about playoff ? This is like free win for sas. Its already hard to win they like team play to just play the bonjwa of foreign scene... Maybe korean team league it works but here where sziky is just 70% better than everyone. Results talk to him . Im with zerggboy in that we also paying for free win lol.

Don't worry I have a plan, then you will change your mind and say free win for Stealth Bunnies
hah .. when i said sziky is far best foreign, some of u were like "no, tech trutacz eon only little worse .. " or sth, and now ppl complain he too good haha ..
Well if some teams really scared to play, dont make winners league style and all happy
If Sziky could make it through a gambit like TechnicS, trutaCz, Bakuryu, Kolll, dOTY, etc. then I think it's time to give curves. Send Sziky first vs LRM) please.

I don't know about how far above others you guys believe that Sziky is, but I can really see him getting taken out by a top 4 teams including the following players.
Scan Fengzi Marwin Technics Doty
but even still, this is under discussion in the organizing group.

Marwin is no more, can we have fengzi? in this case no problem man go winners league.
now seriously, why not a normal bo7, no ace shit no winners shit, so everybody feel concerned...
Walkovers in the playoffs are pretty depressing and probably shouldn't be happening..What about losing a % of the prize pool based on playoff forfeits if a team finishes in the money?
Is Scan allowed to participate? From your own rules Fengzi would probably not be allowed to participate due to lag from China or is that wrong? Marwin MIA,
Technics probably has good chances if active, but Sziky isn't going to be out of shape for this either.
There can be WL format in some round, but I don't think it's that good for the playoffs. The reason being that it's team league and should result on the performance of your team at the end. Even doing a Bo9 in the finals team vs team is far better imho.
This seems a bit ridiculous though. The idea that we should change the format in order to limit the participation of a fantastic player, doesn't really seem in the spirit of excellent competition.

I think the idea is people don't want to risk seeing only sziky games...sziky definitely is beatable but I just feel like all kill gives more emphasis to having top players instead of a top team :/

Maybe not, but in the spirit of actually having competition it's probably necessary.
Yes, there are a few players who can beat Sziky, but it doesn't happen often, especially in competition (as opposed to practice games, as I've heard of both draw and technics doing very well there). Most likely Sziky is going to either just all-kill or get several kills, and then you still have to battle through the rest of an extremely strong sas lineup.
Then there is the issue of why have a regular season being regular Bo7, with a sudden switch to all-kill format for the PO? The other thing I like about Bo7 standard is that it allows for greater player participation, and more importantly allows for players to prepare builds, giving a "lesser" player who takes his time to figure out something good a better chance of taking games off the top name guys.
These team leagues are just promoting narcissists that do messed up things in society later on. No one that has any compassion or understands what other people are feeling would be willing to take more than one game from another team. You've won once, now you want more? Seriously how sick are some people
He cheated in every team league thus far (let's not talk about individual leagues... jesus). BWCL, iCCupCL, Gambit's Cup. Not only that, but you're honoring iCCup's blacklist because you're a guest on their server for this tournament. Why are you not honoring TL's blacklist? (of which Scan is near the very top).
Wow, first Nations League and now Team League. It's pretty hard to believe that this all came out of 2 drunk guys chatting like "wouldn't it be nice to do this shit?". A year and a lot of work behind this and now 2 drunk guys turned into 2 tournaments. Good job. Very good job.

This is something that's come up at pretty much every meeting SBWI has had. It's also probably the only issue where we haven't reached a 100% consensus.
What we did all agree on was that, barring exceptional circumstances, everyone in the BW community should have a clean slate with regards to participating in our events. Obviously, should a player with Scan's history sign up for one of our events, we'd be keeping an extra eye on him/her... In general, banning players from participating is not something we want to do.
just for clarification: does the joker player has to play 1 of the 6 sets in order to be able to play ace match? or is it possible to use 7 players total? (6 players for the 6 sets and joker only for ace match)

Seriously contradictory.
Somewhat, yes. It's far from a great solution, in my opinion anyway. Unfortunately, the alternatives aren't any better. However, if this proves to be a bad choice and harmful to this league -- or any other part of the BW-community for that matter -- our policy will change.
EDIT: about the banning part, just to clarify: we're not gonna go easy on anyone abusing or hacking in this league. They will get banned, in accordance with the rules. What I meant to say was that prohibiting players to participate based on actions/rumors from years ago, is not something we want to do.

Scan cheated in 2012. There have been no real big leagues since Nation Wars, which was the only league he hadn't cheated in for almost 5 years straight. You're minimalizing his actions for PR purposes or you're not educated to his abuses. Either way, there is no better candidate for a banned player than Scan.

sas just signed up! So far we have sas and iwl (and E&F with incomplete roster). We might need to give the teams some more time to organize their teams as many of them haven't stayed organized for some time (last GC).

So did you.
Prove it.
We are allowing you to manage LRM if you want to. We can not be held responsible for ICCUP's actions when it says in our statutes that we will promote and support foreign BW, including servers, tournaments and players. That means that we, until birdserver is out, have one foreign server to run these things on. Now, you happen to be banned there: take it up with them, not in this thread. Like I said you may still manage your team. And also, please keep all your vendettas(gecko, scan and others) out of this thread as I would like this thread filled with happy feelings, instead of negativity. I have wanted to organize something like this for almost a year now, please don't ruin this for me or anyone else.
About Scan: Scan is now playing in Korea, in SRT. He is one of the first players, playing in the highest leagues of the world, who didn't grow up in a country with a professional Starcraft scene. Although his actions in the past might have been childish and immature, if Sonic who has basically saved most of our esport allows him to participate, so could we. Scan has shown good behavior in both the Chinese scene as well as the Korean, all of this attributing to our decision to give him a second chance. We will watch him closely and see this as a trial for his sake. I personally think that he will raise the level of the foreign scene together with Sziky and Fengzi, and I hope most of you will enjoy his participation together with me.
We're allowing professional SC players to play now? Sweet!
Edit: This isn't about negativity. I'm not even talking to Gecko, Gecko spoke. So please, don't blame something on me that had absolutely nothing to do with me. And by please I mean be professional. I'm simply pointing out one of the most famous cheaters in foreign BW being a cheater and addressing that issue. By one of the most famous I mean only the most famous recently. I'm not saying that you have to change how you run your league, but don't try to suppress opinions that conflict with yours if they have legitimate claims.

Although I like the thought, It wouldn't fit our statutes, since they are about promoting foreign bw, and this server is not the prime center of foreign bw right now, nor aiming to be as far as I know.
Lrm)game is biggest abuser and cheater in the whole BW community. Running LRM and winning iccupcl with 1000 cheats and admin power abuses. Now this guy trying to talk here. Its obvious he has friends in admin section of this site. Otherwise he would be instantly ban for all the shitty things he did to bw community.

Right, let's try to ignore all the things which will eventually only stir up drama and try to be 'professional'. Let's sum up why Scan is banned on TL:
- He smurfed in some of Game/Eywa Events (ISL 2 iirc, some other tours), because he was banned for "abuse" - he flamed the shit out of Sziky and others during ISL 1 (no ban issued, he still won it after all) - he used a smurf for Los Reyes Del Mambo Evolutions in BWCL and ICCCL (see JoeKim blogspot)
TL;DR: he was allowed to smurf by JoeKim and Game in BWCL and ICCCL, then forced to use smurf in other tours
His record on Defiler:
- trash talk - a lot of accusations revolving around Scan -> nothing out of the ordinary. If you'd punish for such a behaviour, players like Alfio (random example) should be out, too.
TL;DR:
- TL.net banned Scan for excessive flaming, which is ok, nobody probably read what he wrote. That was 2,5 years ago - Game banned Scan for smurfing after banning him for no apparent reason. This smells like a personal vendetta - Defiler/ICC: Scan did flame a little, but nothing out of the ordinary. Futhermore, no records for flame from Scan on ICC in the past two years
Hence, why not allow him to play? He is good, he adds quality to the league. Moreover, the guy changed, he showed good behaviour in the past two years.
Seriously, don't talk about 'professional organisation' Game. You didn't even write an official statement as to why Scan was banned, nor did you link any sources. All you did was accusing him of hacking - which he never did.
On October 07 2013 18:40 dsaqwe. wrote: Hmmm u guys really let scan play this ??
I'm honestly a bit surprised that the last 3~ or so pages have been about whether or not Scan should be allowed to participate. If Scan was participating I would've expected some drama, but at the moment there hasn't been anything indicating that he's even aware of this event.
That's not to say that your concern doesn't matter, it really does, but rather that it's kind of pointless to discuss/flame/etc a purely hypothetical scenario...

I'm not sure how you can expect to be taken seriously when your facts are wrong... Scan was only banned from Gambit's Cup after he abused in Gambit's Cup. Eywa- took the same approach as SBWI is taking despite pleads to refuse Scan initially.

Okay, I thought that is what you meant, but hard to tell.
China will be playing, at least Fengzi is likely to afaik. I think why Scan, but not other KR allowed is because Scan grew up outside Korea (no professional scene)
And yes, of course I know yo!. Always showin up on snipealot and killing whoever I am watching
A player who grew up in a location without a professional StarCraft scene; OR The player currently residing in a location without a professional StarCraft scene and is not affiliated with a professional StarCraft team; AND The player does not have connection lag that would significantly impact quality of play.
this might exclude chinese players, unless something about the great firewall of china has changed?
If Scan growing in the States is true then he would be eligible to play, however other Koreans abroad could make the same claim without there being much of a way to verify it.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd rather give the Chinese players every chance to join into events like this without assuming crippling lag. Everyone gains a lot by us giving them a fair chance.

While I agree @ letting chinese team play is good in theory for competition, I don't think it's wise. Look @ Fengzi's participation in SRT, he was forced to drop out due to lag issues. Further examples go back to almost every CHN vs Foreign events, there are ALWAYS lag issues.

May I make a suggestion? I think there should a maximum of 10-12 players per roster. This is for two reasons: first, I worry that many players will all flock to one or two teams that they think will win, so all the other teams will have very sparse rosters or very low-tier players, if say, one or two of the teams in the league have 20-30 of the top players. The second reason is related - since there hasn't been a serious team league on TL for some time, a lot of teams have disbanded, or have gone inactive, leaving a lot of people clanless. This means that someone could potentially try to cheat by "stacking" their team by grabbing all the good players and promising them money. For example, let's say there was a player I was worried about; I could just say to him "If you join my team, and we win, you will get 40 dollars, guaranteed, even if you don't play". That would take this one player out of the picture for all the other teams. I think that would be bad for the players, and bad for the league. I don't know, just kind of musing.

But there is already a maximum of 15 players for each team. This number cannot be changed without some evidence as to that teams will a) not leave too many WOs if it is lower b) they will not "hoard players"
However, next STL we will see if this was to be changed. Also, you did have my blessing to join in the organizing skype group for input, which would have been great before the rules were set as changing this rule would be too late. About player's getting unequal amounts of money, I am afraid I can't control that. I appreciate your input as always.

Sick pickup by LRM. They only had 7 zergs before. That means they all had to show up, or they would be forced to send in a lesser race (i.e. forfeit). Now they can afford to have one of them not show with out having to resorting to the unthinkable.

ICCup did not rule anything for the SBWI. ICCup put you on the blacklist, because you cheated in ICCCL with JoeKim. SBWI just accepted to follow the blacklist. No force, no pressure. Seeing how you act up and how you are the center of drama yet again, you should be grateful other people are able to see you as some minor addition to this event. For the sake of all that is good and holy, can't you, just for one time, not be who you are?

Your statement is conflicting not only in general, but to the entire point. In fact, it's the most basic form of an ad hominem. Please keep your slander to yourself. How did iCCup not rule anything for SBWI, and SBWI accept iCCup's blacklist but then both agreed to let me manage my team? Please, for the love of God make a useful post. Are you even participating in this league?
Since we have two teams not having signed up yet but trying to get their rosters together I want to warn that further delay is up ahead. Since GC disappeared the foreign teams have more or less all been inactive so I beg you all to be patient for the sake of a high quality team league.
A completely new tag looks to be forming and some high level players are also yet to be signed for any team. Deadline for rosters is this coming friday, but the newer teams might not be ready to play until the weekend after. For this reason games are moved to saturday the 26th of October. Cast will be on Sunday the 27th. A r&s thread will ofc be released with collected rosters and stream channel etc. until then i refer to our liquipedia page for roster and team information.

I don't think there is any reason to have a go at anyone really... I mean, people who would make claims and talk about how it's unfair and stuff probably come from fortunate locations where they wouldn't need such a thing. If I decide to help out Sziky with some of my luxuries for which I have had little to do with gaining myself, then so be it... If that makes me a bad person, I'd hate to see what you guys characterize as good character.

Money aside, you didn't just give the money to him, you paid him to play where you wanted him to play. If you'd care about him as person or player alone, you'd have sponsored him wherever he was. Hence the criticism. Also, you hate Brood War, don't you? So why still care?
I don't understand why people are acting like this effects them directly none of you are sziky eywa or game this in no way effects your day to day lives or your internet day to day lives if a man wants some money to play a game hes good at why not make some money on the side so what if he left sas to join lrm for this tour its his decision and all the extra comments about his decision are unnecessary since it is HIS decision to do what he wants.

It does affect .sas just saying Personally this kind of "buying good players" is good in my opinion because then it somewhat resembles an actual proleague where a team would want to buy top players but wouldn't be able to afford all of them and thus decide whether each player was worth their cost... Ofc that does kinda disregard previous loyalties and the fact that these leagues we have aren't exactly super profitable
I doubt it is more than you would earn for a few hours of work anyway. If people are in it for the money they have chosen the wrong game to say the least.

real talk: I think LRM's recent acquisitions added parody. Sas was so fucking good before. Maybe IFU could get lucky, but sas was going to rofl stomp every week where enough of their cores showed up. Now look at the current teams:
LRM: beasts ifu: might even be better than lrm on paper. it's close. sas: went from "lolol ez life" to now actually needing to show up each week, but still have ridiculously strong players. (in second round of gambit cup they went 8-0 and only "needed" sziky in 2 of those games) sb/pain: wild card. that team is filled with a bunch of guys who have played at the top at one point or another... oh yea and fangzi. who the fuck knows how they are going to do. Peru: super mega wild card. iwl: ok, iwl is an underdog. But i will say this. Don't underestimate the combination of three things: 1. The highest dominance of zerg seen since vanilla. 2: An all-kill component 3: executer
in short, LRM's recent acquisitions might not have been the best thing possible, but I do think it actually helped. (and the biggest winner in all this is secretly IFU)

most of the people in sas didn't appreciate Ace's decision to leave, but we don't mind sziky's departure.
I think the difference for some people now just is, that sziky in LRM makes it all a bit more imbalanced, and that Game pays him almost half of the prize pool was just a move because Game was salty and wanted to give the middlefinger to this whole event.

well i don't know about you but there was some serious sas. hate for Ace 'cause he left for like $10 TWICE lol. sziky is kinda okay as it makes way more sense. it's just disappointing (for me).
what annoys me though is some LRM acting like it's no big deal and rationalizing how they totally didn't just fuck us over big time with the help of eywa. we lost our ace and a (somewhat unreliable) core player the week after the league was supposed to start (with registration fee already paid). really no need to add insult to injury. ^^ i don't care if you all get players like fengzi and scan but why you gotta take from us? cause i sure as hell didn't just tell them to leave. bizzy i can understand since he is playing for his old team, well kind of (although it would have been nice if he had told me beforehand.), but sziky has been in sas since forever.
so anyway i still think it's a dick move but what do i know? i do not live in a rich country, so my definition of entertainment is probably different from that of eywa's.

The big difference is that UED never participated in big money leagues, even though they had the chance to do though, in addition to them hosting a couple of smaller events and show matches. Granted, how they ended was not good, but until then, their manager and their roster did a lot of positive stuff.
Not saying most of the LRM Evolution players are bad, on the contrary, Bakuryu for example did a lot to help out beginners, work he rarely gets credit for. TrutaCz, TechnicS seem to be nice guys as well. However, Game's policy in leagues was always (aside from his severe cheating) in the grey area. He insists on rules, regardless of the outcome, because he seems to think "the community needs a strong, dominating team" - now compare that with different teams like reps, which members know each other real life. I'd trade the Russian's spirit and that of most other sas members against all other money driven motives any time. So yes, I found it awkward to see Ace leaving sas back then, however didn't find it as big deal, it did by no means hurt sas as much as the timing today, nor did it seem UED went over bodies to realize their goal.
It comes down to the eternal discussion if a clan should be a team of friends / long term allys or if a team should be formed out of money alone. At the moment it seems it's about money. That might be the downside of entry fees, a smaller community and some players asking for a lot of money rather than for tournaments to compete with each other.
I don't quite get Sziky's decision, but so be it, so far he never did anything to be seen negatively.

Sas have been somewhat overstacked for long time now. Sas was actually two teams into one like twice. Of course losing Sziky is always bad but remember that LRM played without trutacz, Pike etc. polish players in last team league (Gambit cup). We lost not just 1 player that was part of the team, but it felt like the team was cut in half. This is much worse than losing 1 top-notch player.

It was not flaming, it was standing a well-founded ground. Also (it feels to me) to say that a strong, well-established, with huge bw history community like the polish one decided to create their own league team just because certain european players once told something on TL or a forum, is the very least, imho, neglectful of the polish bw community. But all that doesn't matter. What matters is what actually happened. Losing several top players understacked is far worse than losing the best player when overstacked. Ofc losing Sziky is bad, but it's not that bad.
Although if indeed certain european players wake up so strongly polish bw community, I must rethink activating my Facebook again to start flaming Draco and get him back to bw . _ . ;

I agree LRM had a fairly weaker team last season, but if you look at the stats: trutacz, bonyth(who wasn't on LRM) and pike had a combined +6 whereas sziky alone had +8. I also agree that the Polish players are good, but Sziky is on another level than everyone else without dispute. Along with the loss of Cute and Bizzy, we'll just see how sas can manage in comparison to LRM of last season.
Yeah, I agree, Draw. LRM gets too much hate for particular reasons which, at least to me, is understandable.
Also last team season, not only were we weaker and sas much overstacked than LRM now, but we had even more monotonous and easier-to-play-against line up (mostly zergs) and, as far as I remember, at 2-3 CWs we didn't have enough players in order to play the regular games and were pretty close to give w.os if i'm not mistaken.

i don't understand the whole drama, simply decision made by Sziky, he want to develope and earn some money, the whole loyality you are talking about - nigga please, it's a computer game, the golden era of sc:bw past away many years ago, we are no longer kids for which this game is a big part of live and care about building atmosphere in team for next few years everyone grow up, have their own life and spends less time for this game, why the fuck he can't change team in computer game and earn some extra money ? stop measuring people and try to look at this decision from his side

This may be a strange request, but is it at all possible to switch outsider to outlier? I think that it goes better with the new maps, and for some reason we keep drifting back to old maps.

When picking maps for this tournament we considered a few very basic ideas. We wanted the maps to have variation in tilesets, expansion layouts, the amount of players it was made for, and the country of origin.
Lol I just read this part... Korea: 5 maps Germany: 1 map America: 1 map XD that diversity but it is better than basically any other tournament out there so good job (y) fneuwinar ugh this needs to start already looking forward to seeing awesome games

It didn't say it would have complete variation within each of the 4 variables. In that case we would have to include 5,6 and 7/8 player maps etc. to make it so. There is variation within at least one variable from map to map, not all 4. Also, introducing new maps may require some time;
overwatch was introduced in SBWI Summer Tour, and now we use it again. oxide was introduced in this tour, and next time we might use it again if it held our standards.
In next season we might therefore be able to have more foreign maps.
Also, was the purpose of your post to say "look! there are fewer foreign maps than korean XD" or is it just the way I see it?

edit: no
because its too late or you don't like the map?
First off, I only have one vote of 3 on each of these decisions, so I can't make decisions on my own. But the decisions for this league's starting maps have been made. So: maybe next season or for playoffs.

edit: joke aside, I've (subconsciously?) thought about this specific map switch before. Outlier > Outsider in so many ways imo. I think it's not a strange but rather pretty adequate request ^ . ^ ~

This smells bad. Bad like a good french cheese. Ill talk with administration asap.
I think Outsider is a great entertaining map and should not be removed in any case. We need more maps of this style where your third gas isn't easy to take and secure. Old maps are usually like this and we need more of them, bring back jungle story and neo blaze! for real men with big dicks like me.

But anyhow, I have to disagree with you on this one, Pauline. I have nothing against Outsider, but I think there are just better maps out there. I really don't care for three-player maps, but I wouldn't exclude them, rather adding more modern maps, but still, maps like Tau Cross need to be slam-dunked into the garbage dumpster.

What do you call a modern map, coze really I don't know what people are talking about when they say that. For me modern map = easy third gas = can turtle my win out. So what is it for you dear? The advantage with Tau Cross is that your third is completely exposed and far from your main, there is no fuckin way I would remove it form the list

KeSpA time in bw or all the other non bw time included?

I'd like to re-launch a formal complaint against Scan.
1. Scan has only shown for one CW, and clearly joined to snipe LRM). 2. Scan didn't move to America (grew up with professional BW in Korea) until he was nearly a teenager. 3. Scan plays in professional Korean leagues. 4. Scan only speaks Korean on his stream. 5. Scan is the most famous cheater that still plays BW.

These are my points, as this is formal.
- LRM)Game
sounds like some epic spoilers... he was there vs sas too but we didn't get to ace match
I thought it's pretty obvious that Scan must not be allowed to play given the wording of the ruling, but eventually would have to play for entertainment reasons (not making the event too one-sided). The most meaningful result of the whole debate going on in regards whether a semi-pro korean should be playing, at least in my eyes, is the huge implicit insult to other teams, who are not being viewed as worthy contenders for the gold in the SBWI league and need such boost in order to get the competition going.
TL didn't allow Scan to play in the biggest league outside of Korea. He should totally be playing in the biggest team league. I also won't spoiler my text, it's a complaint, not a secret. I understand you don't want your organization looking bad, but that's kind of the entire problem that spawned the complaint.

This has nothing to do with SBWI looking bad or so, just that, as draw was hinting, you were spoiling results as well.

I think I got what your message meant. Thus, I counter with Hi iCCup admin and Scan MOD!
Ugh. To follow your, for the lack of a better word, scheme:
I'd launch a formal request. Ban LRM)Game. He's a convicted cheater. He still flames, tries to force his will over everyone who does not agree with him, gives his clan the worst possible reputation and furthermore, his pure presence is an insult to the people he cheated and scammed in the past two years - this includes his clan, members of the former SJ/Team Noobs, sas, the ICCup administration and other players who pariticipated in either BWCL or ICCupCL.
Call it racism, call it discrimination, call it whatever you will... The SBWI has lost all credibility with this. It's clear that skill isn't a factor in the decision to ban professional gamers anymore, but Nationality... The majority of the Korean population is worse than Scan if he's good enough to play in SOSPA events.
wowowow so sziky beat scan in ace match? sick! can't wait for the cast!
oh, wait... there wouldn't be a single new post here if that was the case.
today we managed to preplay fengzi's set for next week's psb vs sas. it's pretty cool. birdie had to stay up till like 3am and we needed someone who could play 10pm CN time on #Lperuleague but it all worked out : )))) yeah i know, he probably won't play ace match if needed, but our karma is infinitely better

Well, I hope this is not a rhetorical question, because I'm totally going to answer it. If you read the automated ban list, you'd see he was a previously banned user. As for his question, I'm sorry to say, it was not reasonable, because Scan, who is a Korean-American, can't post here to defend himself. Also, unfortunately, we don't live in a magical unicorn world where everyone just gets along. There are a lot of different personalities being brought in contact with each other because the internet is linking people around the world together, and the result can be messy a lot of times. I'm sure there have been times when someone has said or done something on iccup or in a forum that has pissed you off, and I don't fault you for that. It might seem strange, but I think it's okay to be pissed off and say something about it. I think we're going in the right direction as people because maybe 200 years ago, we'd kill each other in a pistol-duel over arguments.

(first paragraph is ridiculous, move to the second unless your name is ninazerg)
Isn't the point you're making just another reason Scan shouldn't be in the league... I mean, for SBWI to honor iCCup ban list and not TL's basically says nothing but bad things about their organization. They're obviously not banning users because they think it's warranted or because they want to do right by their predecessors and co-existing organizations... They just did it so that they can run their event on the server. Excuse me Mr. President, SBWI does negotiate with terrorists.
Oh and back to some less insane points, by the rules, I guess "TECHNICALLY" (given that they are poorly worded)... Rule 14 states that a player can be associated with pro gaming as long as he is not associated with a pro team... Now, basically that means, if just about any pro Korean player at the moment were to not be in Korea, they would be eligible because they don't have to be associated with a pro team in order to play in pro tournaments. The way I read it however, is that (how I think it was intended), players who are associated with the pro scene should not be eligible. As of now, Scan is part of the Korean pro scene... Given, the level has dropped, but not to a significant enough to close the gap with foreigners, not by a long shot.
Long story short, Scan is not excluded based on the current rule set as far as I know because it explicitly states that the player has to be associated with a PRO team, but that I think is outdated because previously you had to be on a pro team in order to play in a pro tournament, now you don't.

Streaming the games live while playing them is something we have chosen to allow. Simply writing results without adding a spoiler tag in a thread/stream chat where people who might not want to be spoiled hang out is more what is implied in the rules.
Example 1: trutacz streams his games in STL, this is fine; talking about results in that stream chat is also fine. Example 2: writing in the official STL thread is not ok, hence me asking you to use spoiler tags. Example 3: saying "Do we really need to watch my games I played so bad" in the official stream chat will result in a TO and a warning instantly (assuming a mod sees it, which is what I have had done once so far)
Good thing you strike down on those who spoil in the official stream chat. There have been several players who have spoken about their performance in such a way that you know the results prior to watching the game being casted.
Also, Game, there is no point in discussing Scan further. He is allowed to play, end of story. And by the way, I read your first posts and the result was obvious even though you claim otherwise. LRM still has 5 other sets you can win, perhaps you should focus on them instead.

well if you are watching a replay in desti means that the cw is already in the ace match and you were obviously complaining because u lost the cw if not i bet there wouldnt be any post from you, anyway i think stream should not be allowed but hey! i was just trying to stop spoilers in the future because is the thing i hate the most, but if its allowed i will just make sure i dont join the threads/streams untill the official cast is done the rest is that, just drama
You're right... It's only okay when SBWI staff spoil results for a game on stream. AM I RIGHT?
iFU vs LagFree had results spoiled by staff -> Watch the VOD if you don't believe it (Lucky they had a guy who had no other job than to put up overlays... AM I RIGHT?)
Otherwise, You're saying that we can privately messages EVERYONE the results to our games as long as they are not spoiled in the stream?
Another thing... Does it really matter if we spoil results on stream? Clearly, rules say it is forbidden, but the rules do not have any consequences included. So, basically the only other thing that applies is rule 1 claiming that SBWI rules with an iron fist... Meaning, if I were to spoil results of my games in stream chat, nothing would happen, however, you could choose to ban me because you simply don't like me... But you can choose to ban me because you don't like me regardless (as proven by the blacklisted players - Who didn't abuse in this event - Some not in any event - Though previous abusers are allowed to play). I mean, PRIORITIES right?
Oh, and one last thing, it is especially good that you keep a very detailed rule book which is nowhere to be found on teamliquid or anywhere else on the Internet, because you clearly just pulled those three rulings out of your ass... Or maybe out of iFU's playbook? I'm not sure if there is a difference to be honest. They're both up there for sure.

i knew from this screenshot what was the result of whole thing, isnt this a spoiler? are u complaining about another breaking rules while u do it ? sounds fair
Assume it is a spoiler, anyone could have posted that... If anyone could have posted it, it means anyone could have known about the results... What would be done if some random person and/or smurf not affiliated with any team posted that screen shot? Who is to blame, the guy who posted it (potentially having gotten spoiled himself), or the guy who spoiled it for him?

Hey guys, can we switch all these complaints to PMs? I think everyone would appreciate it, this thread should be about league games and possibly include links to vods. Regards

And to Eywa, you need to stop wasting time here, and get online and play me, bo9, I will get every single BroodWar caster to cast at once, stop dodging.

I feel like in NA and Europe, shooters are more mainstream than RTS, and I know there were some big tournaments for Halo, Counterstrike, CoD, Quake, Unreal, etc., so I can see where they're coming from. Right now, it seems like the only people who believe in BroodWar are the people who are still hanging on for dear life.

Well, let's be clear, it's not a showmatch this time. It's a grudgematch. We basically want nothing but the absolute worst for the other person in life, but in this case, he knows he can't touch me in BroodWar because in our last 10 matches, he's only won one game. That's pitiful, and now, he's scared that he'll get hit with the legendary Mighty-Mouse-Rape-Punch technique taught by the Shaolin Monks if he steps up and plays. It's his own fault that he's delusional about how much influence he has on the world around him, and he really thinks he can "kill" the SBWI Team League because, in his own words, "I can do anything I put my mind to." Well, put your mind to winning versus me, if you can.
i would like to propose being able to preplay any set (not just first 4 maps) if both teams agree to it. yes it would allow for 5-0, but it is not insanely likely, and even if it happens so what? is there any particular reason it should not be allowed?

If both teams agree and you tell me which sets are preplayed, this is of course ok.

It puts games 1-4 off since in theory you could postpone games 5-7 and win those, so you only need to win 1 game from games 1-4, putting less significance on drafting lineups for those games. I would however, like to see map order change week to week so that we don't always play oxide first (my team hates it, for that matter)
Perhaps not a relevant change mid-season but I can tell you that the SBWI map department is discussing a continuously updated map pack that will change more often during a season. What I can read it sounds kinda like the ICCUP MOTW system but with some differences ofc. However maps will most definitely be changed for playoffs, possibly before that if people really want to. Also, observe the difference in changing format (what you said) and changing the map pool.

PsB plays lagfree and iFU in the final 3 weeks of the season which makes for some very epic pre-playoff finish to the STL. I think lagfree's win over LRM guarantees them to qualify, where LRM almost must beat sas to qualify. (they can lose if PsB loses both CW)

Would be funny if LRM didnt qualify c:
don't know about funny but it would be surprising.
since there are no rules about this, i asked jaevla if it was possible for players to switch teams mid-season, and as such have teams already in the playoffs take on players from teams already out of / not likely to get into the playoffs. he told me that, since currently nothing prohibits it, such a thing would indeed be possible. after the sbwi admins discussing it for about 3 weeks, they have yet to make a final decision.
i am posting this here now to ask the opinions of everyone involved.

Theoretically you can just grab any top player when that team dies. Imagine LRM vs iFU and LRM loses, they can just grab Sziky technics etc for the final. In conclusion, I voted this is retarded.

I'll also go ahead and announce the release of the playoffs map pack: Download
New maps:
1. (3)Vårens Töväder (new map) 2. (2)Neo Overwatch 3. (4)Grand Line SE 4. (4)Gladiator 5. (2)Oxide (updated version) 6. (3)Neo Aztec ace map: (4)Circuit Breakers
The download contains a high resolution image, a melee and observer version as well as a fog-free, fixed spawn training version for each map. All maps are compressed for faster hosting.
Further details, map pictures and all the other fancy stuff will be released with the next writeup.

(3)Vårens Töväder (new map) This map is really cluttered, like the map maker was trying to do too many different things on one map... The tree doodad things make for weird vision, not liking it at all. Is it possible to have a captains vote on vetoing any maps?
The vision blocking is intended, just like on (2)Mist.
Actually, due to the immediate, rather negative reaction that my announcement caused (which is understandable, considering the short notice; we wanted to announce this earlier, but somehow people seem to not really get much going during the last few weeks...), I am just going ahead and suggest that we just keep the old map pack, only using the updated versions of Oxide and Overwatch and maybe mixing up the map order a bit.
However, as of now this is just my personal opinion, not a definite decision, I will try and get Jaevla or some one else from SBWI to make some official statement.

SBWI isn't proleague where the players are professional and can adapt in time. With that said, just because SPL did it does not make it right for SBWI to do it.

If a league run by a professional organization does it, it's professional, if an amateur league does it and shortly after withdraws it, it's justified to call them amateur and call them a disappointment. I can't say this doesn't follow a certain logic, but it doesn't make me like or respect you either, especially the words you chose to give feedback.
How does that not follow logic? Participating players in SPL play the game professionally; hence, they will have enough time to familiarize themselves with a map, which usually goes through a testing process. In the SBWI, players are all amateurs. They don't have the prep time, pure and simple. You're applying the same standard to two qualitatively different types of leagues. It's disappointing that SBWI would make such a decision. The fact that they released and then changed their own decision should be enough evidence that it was poorly thought out. I really can't fathom the logic to introduce a new map like this for the playoffs nor would I have ever considered doing the same back in the day. That you'd dislike or not respect me for expressing my opinion, such is life.
I compiled a new map pack update, containing the same maps as the group stages, only changing the map order as follows:
#1. (2)Neo Overwatch #2. (3)Tau Cross #3. (2)Destination #4. (4)Colosseum II #5. (2)Oxide #6. (3)Outsider SE ace map: (4)Fighting Spririt

change log: - main area increased for more late game macro space - 6/12 o'clock gas expansions are now high ground with two ramps leading to them - added turret spots to the low ground between natural and third - various adjustments to ramps and chokes - optimized resource formations for all expansions
change log: - the corner expansions are now wallable with 2 pylons per ramp - added more mineral patches to the mineral onlies, some of them with reduced yield - fixed an issue with the 9 o'clock geyser being tankable from the low ground - small adjustments to the area around the natural choke - added more building space to the areas around the mineral onlies and middle expansions - optimized bottom main minerals to avoid pathing issues with comsat

I certainly don't give a shit about your opinion as silent consumer if it comes along with nothing than turd package. You act up as this would destroy eSports, when it isn't. That you'd dislike or not respect me for expressing my opinion, such is life.
I didn't say I could not follow your point. However, you walz in like a braindead squirrel and make demands, most likely not even contributing to anything related to BW, other than watching it (which is no contribution at all). I certainly don't give a shit about your opinion as silent consumer if it comes along with nothing than turd package. You act up as this would destroy eSports, when it isn't. This really is a blow in the face of the few who try their best to deliver some form of BW you can actually take part in. For every single thank you and constructive form of feedback, there's at least three morons like you. The way people like you express their thanks is a statement about how bad a thing is (with no further explanation) followed up by a comparison to a fully developed monetary supported organization run by dozens of professionals. No wonder less and less people help out. Around this page it gets more difficult with every month to motivate anyone to do basic tasks on a regular basis. "Such is life". Stick that up your arse.
Uncalled for man. He expressed a different opinion, no need to get offensive.
Nah, it wasn't just him "expressing an opinion", Dknight decided to reply in a manner that was basically "I don't care what you just said, I'm still gonna be mad at SBWI, and if you can't understand that, then you're dumb."
As someone who has been on both sides, I have no clue why organizers get so defensive when people critique them. Just because you put out a product doesn't mean you're safe from criticism.
You hit the nail on the head. I've contributed a ton to Brood War back in the day. I'll take my 12+ seasons of running WGT-Clan League, our other special money leagues (eg., Titan Tour), the largest nation war cups in Brood War (World Cup, each with 40+ nations), experience with TLTour 2, getting sponsors involved in foreign tournaments, and a bunch of other events before 'eSports' in the foreign community ever took off.
I think if we stopped petty arguing and meaningless dick-measuring contests altogether, and actually spent that time discussing how we can improve the current state of the foreign BW scene, we'd be better off. But that's just me.
Too much cancerous whining in this thread, people with failed educations and miserable lives etc. How about perma-banning everyone single person who posted in this thread so we can restore BW to it's old glory? Yes, I'm kind of serious.
Because it's fucking obvious that quite a few people who "discuss" in this thread do it without any love for BW at all. or eachother. I stopped "discussing" BW on TL all together now. I know more "normal" people has chosen the same way.

Short of the first week of the league... I think we can agree that a lot of things bring a mutual sentiment about this organization. I think the playoffs should be postponed a week for obvious reasons.
I did not exactly randomize them but shuffled them around to give the maps that weren't used much so far more games while maintaining a good distribution (not having all the two player maps togeter etc.). Out of the given map pool FS was the obvious choice as new ace map, even though it was already in the 6th slot before and therefore hasn't had many games.

We've already seen both FS and Destination played hundreds of times in the past 4 years, if it were up to me I'd just remove them and replace them with either SOSPA maps(Mist)/Unused KESPA maps (Athena, Triathlon, a myriad of other maps)/New foreigner made maps.

By overused I mean everything from Aztec, Tau Cross, Heartbreak Ridge to Jade and Electric Circuit.
I know that these maps are considered fairly balanced, but it's not like there aren't any alternatives (BTW isn't Aztec broken for Zerg, why does it get used so much following that logic)
Replace Electric Circuit with Medusa Replace Aztec with Othello Replace Outsider with Triathlon Replace Destination with Mist Replace Fighting Spirit with that inverted version of Fighting Spirit since we are so in love with this map. Nature Wing

This wasn't directly meant for STL since they've been very liberal with their use of Foreigner maps, but the fact that even the STL is still using Fighting Spirit and Destination, arguably the two most overplayed maps in the history of BW...

People pick Aztec a lot cause the other options for 3p maps are all pretty bad. The asymmetricalness can really fuck up mirrors too. That's also why you see Tau so much too cause some see it as a lesser evil compared to some other maps.
Also, dunno why you suggest Medusa and then complain about Zerg imba on Medusa when at least Protoss can actually get a third gas on Aztec compared to Medusa. (That is another issue with 3p maps where zergs can generally just take 2/3 of the map starving out their opponents.)

As long as leagues stop using FS and Destination, I'll be happy.
IMO polls are useless unless you get like 100 votes. FS and destination are pretty much the best maps, they could integrate circuit breakers more and I like Byzantium personally but not many others do. I also agree that most 3p maps are imbalanced, but Medusa is more fun to play on than Aztec.

It's a nice change though to be able to split a map as zerg and starve out the other race instead.

IMO we should definitely integrate the new SOSPA maps, but unused KESPA maps are unused for a reason, a lot of them are heavily imbalanced. New foreigner made maps are great too, id really like to see both the new SOSPA and foreigner maps integrated into the iccup map pack and MOTW so people can practice on them more easily

But why not mix it up and use Nature wing instead of Fighting spirit for instance.

Just throwing it out there so it's not forgotten since the league is over.
This is my fault entirely, same goes for the irregular and late Liquipedia Edits (up to some point). My motivation to contribute to the active BW scene (covering, adding results, organizing, w/e) is on some sort of extreme low - without accusing anyone now. Actually, a small "accusation", more like a BIG suggestion to every organizer ever: please do not change a player's nick twice per week. This is so upsetting if there is no understandable history of the changes. I actually thought about updating TLPD yesterday and then let it go. It's horribly bugged and I have no idea which player is who now (glow -> Dewalt aha, DienMax is who now? Gundan? Who is Hope? Is Hope Hope or Talent, or what, and what the heck about Widowkiller or whoever it is who turned out to be some sort of Modesty and what not).
The rosters on liquipedia got changed all the time, I can't really understand if those were transfers or just nick changes. Hence, no idea who's who - and that's info I'd need to complete the TLPD / Statistics page. As for the statistics page, I'd probably have to re-make it and change back the player's old akas, before I can do anything. Just so much work for the few who're interested >_>
