pretty sure the gameitoss account hasn't been used in a couple of years, plus he was A+ during tsl2 (or was that only idra and morrow? i think ra also hit a+ not 100% sure), b+ was nothing for him. also he says that this was an old game he found on his computer

Couple other guys like Morrow got A. There were afair number of A-, but as it was a ladder qualifier there was a tendency for many players to farm B+ foreigners. IdrA's A+ was notable because he got that playing almost exclusively Korean players.

Well the account "Gameitoss" was last logged in on iCCup on November 7th, so this game is a bit older than the date posted above.

Anything but some casual Brood War playing isn't possible while he's being a high level pro SC2 player

I am pretty sure Morrow has had A+ on his TSL2 Account, as I remember that he got his last few points to get to A+ by playing a D+ player (what he got blamed for). So he at least hit A+ for sure, afair.

In later seasons of ICCup when a lot of koreans played it, almost no foreigner was able to hit A+ legitimately (without selecting your opponents and avoiding koreans) besides Idra and MAYBE Nony (and that's during TSL2). Even Morrow and Mana's A's were achieved through selecting weaker foreigners, whereas White-ra never dodged anyone on ladder, his game list was always full of koreans. Here are the ladder standings for TSLs http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/2008_Razer_TSL_(Ladderstage) http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/2009_PokerStrategy_TSL_(Ladderstage) It's true that a few more foreigners like MistrZZZ and Snowman (ToT's shared account) hit A+ in early ICCup seasons (MIStrZZZ won one of those seasons) but you can't really compare that to IdrA's A+.

I think BW is only more popular than SC2 in Korea, because the establishment is already there (no paying $60 per copy, many pros are used to BW and continue to play it), and because everyone over there plays League of Legends anyway In Europe and North America SC2 dwarfs the first in tournaments/viewers. Still hasn't helped us any against the remaining Koreans though xD

For finals of SSL9, I remember hearing there were at least 34k on the Korean stream which doesn't include any chinese or TL streams (several thousand here). We were looking at least 40k minimum I would say and BW is really popular in China (after WCIII I think). There's supposed to be another Chinese BW tournament coming up according to Scan as well (last one was popular I believe). You're probably right in terms of players in EU/NA but I think in KR and probably china, I think there's likely more. Amount of tournaments, BW is getting quite a bit lately. I mean, we've seen SRT, SSL, BW heat, Love's tourney, PL for a while (not keeping up with this) etc... Quite a bit though they aren't all at once so ya, I think SCII still has the edge there

lets see whether sc2 can still even retain its popularity after another 11 years before you can even compare it with bw. bw is still in top 10-20 of pcbang rankings with sc2 nowhere in sight. the fact that bw is still played and streamed on korea and by other foreign players after so long proves its legacy as a fine superior rts game. if lotv is as shitty as usual sc2 would disappear within a few years flat.

I also like how the battles aren't over in 5 seconds, and how micro and consistent tending to a battle takes a while but also has small but cumulative rewards unlike sc2..
